Vomiting

Woke up this morning to some sick in the hallway which we put down to him being in the garden and eating grass or something. But DD got home from school to little puddles of sick (looks like spit). When we got home he was sick another 4 times, we had a panic that he'd had a slug pellet as there was a little blue spec in the spit. Then he threw up a little piece of a blue and yellow flip flop so we realised it wasn't poison and took him to the emergency vet. They've checked him said he's healthy and gave us something to help clear his stomach out. Now we've got home, he's been sick again and he's just sitting in random corners of the room not looking at anything.

Do I need to worry? Do I leave him he just needs to recover from the sick, I think he's barely slept today. Should I give him the medicine the dr gave us? Or let him have a rest and have it in the morning?

So we're giving up on medicine. He's been doing so well with eating, using the litter tray. And as soon as I try and put medicine in his food he tastes it and goes on top of the cupboards.

This morning I realised he's going up there so me and DH can't get to him. But when we're sat on the sofa chilling he lays with us. And when DD is home alone he goes and lays on her bed, he's usually in our room every night and hasn't been since he got home. So I think we've got to gain his trust back, he seems fine showing no signs of infection or pain.

Oh bless him, yeah he’s looks perfectly content there.
We used to hide my late cat’s thyroid pills in a couple of spoonfuls of the Encore cat tinned food, think it was the chicken and cheesy one.

He looks really happy there.
I wouldn't worry about the medicine.
Just let him be.
I love that picture of him!

Just got in bed and look who's followed us! 💙 we're getting there. Just need to break it to him he can't sleep here incase his belly gets knocked in the night

Aw.
Hi Rocco.
You're home at last, where they love you.
Sleep comfy on their bed tonight.

hartof · 26/05/2023 23:53

Well Mr Rocco woke us at 1am for cuddles and attention and again at 4am. He was wiping his little wet nose all over me for cuddles. Apart from his usual morning lik e lix which he's still refusing. I think we're back to normal 🤞 I can't believe this time a week ago we thought we'd lost him.

I'm so happy to read your Rocco updates.
I also thought he wasn't going to make it last week.

TheShellBeach · 31/05/2023 16:40

I hope Rocco is continuing to make good progress, OP.

Also that you've managed not to pay the first vet's bill.

He's doing better. Very very picky with food, will only drink water from the tap and won't eat any of the foods we tried to get him to eat when he was poorly. But he's eating new stuff, DH is away on a stag do so he's been a bit confused this week. His incision has healed and stitches dissolved.

We haven't heard from the first vet yet but we do have the bill from the second vet after the insurance algarve paid them what was left in the policy.

Thank you so much for asking you've been a great support 💗

Oh and where the glue was on his head, he has pulled the fur out so he has a bald strip there too!

Aww he’s not eating the other foods because of the bad association, bless him. Glad he’s made a good recovery.
Hopefully you don’t hear from the first vet. Ever again 😆

Well I need to because the insurance paid them out. I filled in the claims form when I picked him up that day not knowing he wasn't right and in the chaos I didn't get to email them to say stop the claim we're disputing it. So I need to try and get it back or at least some of it

Oh dear, yes. Hopefully you can get some of it back then 🤞

TheShellBeach · 02/07/2023 12:25

@hartof I know it's been a while since you posted but I hope you've managed to get the insurance sorted out, and that Rocco is okay now.

Thanks for checking in. He is 100% back to normal and has even started eating the flavour of lik e lix that he had gone off. We currently owe the second vet £1600 as Tesco insurance paid out the first vet. We've put a complaint in but we're not getting far with it.

Hope you keep on at the insurers though.
It's a lot of money!
