What times do you feed your cats?

My neutered male is 7 months old so he is still having three meals a day at the moment at 7am ish, 3pm and 8:30pm (approx).

I'm not sure he will be too happy if this eventually changes to once a day, but I'm hoping to cut out the afternoon meal before he's a year old.

How often do you feed your babies?

My cat has biscuits down all day that she grazes on. She will come and bug me if she there is a slightest dent in them.

She has her wet food at 3.30pm.

She’s 6

bellac11 · 22/09/2022 20:38

Too often

When she thinks she is deserving of a feed, which is most of the time.

EnlightenedSlug · 22/09/2022 20:39

At about 7am I put wet and dry food out. Then in the evening I put another pouch of wet food out if she asks for it and there's no food left in her bowl.

inappropriateraspberry · 22/09/2022 20:39

Ours have dried food available all day, thankfully they're not overwaters! They get some meat as a treat in the evening every so often, but not every day. They're good mousers (and rabbiters!) and we are rural. The vet said we don't need to feed them meat as they can get their own!

Bookaholic73 · 22/09/2022 20:40

My 17 year old cat gets wet food twice a day (8am & 5pm) and has biscuits down all day.

teraculum29 · 22/09/2022 20:41

my 7year old cat is having 2-3 pouches a day, depending on her appetite and how fussy she is.
She also have a few treats throghout the day.
And she was sterelised and she is mostly indoor cat.

Loveatortie · 22/09/2022 20:41

Three times a day when ever they decide they are hungry, always have a bowl of dried biscuits available 🐯

Sparklingbrook · 22/09/2022 20:43

She has dried food out all the time and gets a pouch of Felix on demand which is probably about 4 a day.

Arwen7 · 22/09/2022 20:43

I have two and just feed them when I wake up and then around dinner (9pm for us). The boy is bigger due to his breed so if he comes in the afternoon asking for more I give him an extra meal.

Yarnosaur · 22/09/2022 20:44

Mine has wet food for breakfast from whoever is first up (7-8ish) which she doesn't really eat or even like much but insists on having it. She has dry available freely from 3 bowls around the house as she won't eat without a human nearby.

EmmaC78 · 22/09/2022 20:45

Dried food out all the time and then a pouch when I wake up and another before bed.

whirlyhead · 22/09/2022 20:45

breakfast, lunch and dinner for the whole lot of them. Each meal starts with an amuse bouche, then entrees, mains and dessert. What this means is the little bastards get fed about 12 times a day. We’ve given up arguing with them.

Pixiedust1234 · 22/09/2022 20:45

Most get fed twice a day. Thats 12 hours a part, domt forget they only have small stomachs. Why would you only feed once in 24 hours?

7.30am and 7.30pm

dustofneptune · 22/09/2022 20:47

Our cats get fed wet food 5x daily through Cat Mate timed feeders. I think they're timed at 4am 10am 2pm 6pm and 10pm.

We have to do lots of small meals, otherwise our male cat wolfs everything down then throws it back up again. This way, they get to eat smaller meals without us needing to be the ones giving all five.

wetpebbles · 22/09/2022 20:48

Mine has 2 pouches at breakfast as been out all night then sleeps all day and has 1 pouch at 4ish, biscuits out all day as well

Beefilm · 22/09/2022 20:53

7.30 am and 4 pm. The 2 younger ones sometimes get a few biscuits at lunchtime still. They are a year old and haven't realised yet that adult cats don't need lunch! All of them have a little treat or snack at about 10 pm. I can't leave food out all the time because one cat is severely overweight and every day is a struggle to prevent the others becoming so. I envy people with cats who manage to self regulate their feeding.

Isaidnoalready · 22/09/2022 20:55

Three small meat meals occasionally scattered biscuits they are on diets

TwoOwlSocks · 22/09/2022 20:55

Half a pouch of wet food twice a day at sometime between 7-9am and then at
5pm. Dry biscuits throughout the day when she mithers us and we make sure she has some in her bowl before we go to bed. Supplemented with many a self-caught mouse and shrew!
Female mog about 5 years old and very active.

StrikeandRobin · 22/09/2022 20:56

Boxofsockss · 22/09/2022 20:58

Biscuits available all day and half a pouch of wet food in the morning and the other half in the evening.

isitfridayyet22 · 22/09/2022 20:58

When they tell me to, I am their slave after all 🤷🏻‍♀️

inappropriateraspberry · 22/09/2022 21:02

And if they're being extra cuddly and lovely, (or I have to flea treat them) they get some Dreamies or similar!

Athenajm80 · 22/09/2022 21:04

I've just read this out to one of my male cats. He is unimpressed by most posts. He insists on at least 4 meals a day and if he doesn't get them then he shouts at me and stares. The others are generally ok with twice a day, although enjoy the extra meals that their brother gets them.

When I worked out of home, they got fed once in the morning, once when I got home and occasionally just before I went to bed. Dry food is freely available all day.

Lonecatwithkitten · 22/09/2022 21:07

The Siberian princess has breakfast as 7.08 am after her morning stroll, she eats dinner at 6.05pm after her afternoon stroll.
The cheeky monkeys (kittens) have breakfast at 6.35am, lunch at 2.40pm and dinner at 6.15pm.
The timings may seem bizarrely precise, but are dictated by the rigid schedule of the stupid dogs who get up at 6.30 am and eat their evening meal at 6pm.
