My cat might be pregnant! 😃

So happy!!! She is 18 months old. Vet checked her out today because she was due her injections, I reminded him that she was not spayed yet as I wanted her to have a litter and he examined her and believes she is pregnant! That means she cannot have her injections for a few weeks more until after she gives birth. Due approx April 11th - 17th.

My grown up children are more than excited, so am I. I have a list of family members who would like a kitten if possible and I am going to keep one for myself and her. Grin Grin

My children bought me her as a present one Christmas during Covid and she has been the best companion ever. I had previously lost my little dog and other cat due to old age. I will get her spayed after this litter though as the intention was to only let her deliberately have one litter.

I hope all goes well and I am just so excited! Grin

This probably isn’t going to go down how you expected it to.

polkadotpixie · 04/03/2022 20:52

I'm assuming this is a wind up given your username but if not, you're going to get your arse handed to you on a plate 🤦‍♀️

Babadook76 · 04/03/2022 20:55

Oh dear op. Didn’t you know it’s illegal to mention breeding dogs and cats on mn? Nothing less than acquiring some unwanted mongrel with a dodgy history from a rescue is acceptable Grin

JustMeAndThee · 04/03/2022 20:55

🍿

MrsElm · 04/03/2022 20:55

Is your cat a desirable breed, or just a moggy. And what breed is the tom cat?

Yarnivore · 04/03/2022 20:55

April fools is next month.

Susu49 · 04/03/2022 20:56

I'm pleased for you op :)

But as a pp said, "you going to get your arse handed to you"

Buckle up.

I don't care. Each to their own. And yes, I have had several cats over the years from Cat Rescue but do you know what, I wanted my cat to have kittens.

My cat is a moggy. The tom is a moggy. Both black. (If it is the one I think it is...)

So long as you get what you want eh? Never mind the hundreds of unwanted cats needing homes already.
Some are even kittens.

blublub · 04/03/2022 21:04

Awww congratulations! It sounds like your kittens have homes waiting. I don’t know why people aren’t allowed to let their cats have kittens. It’s easier to adopt a child than a cat! We ended up buying one for the princely sum of £100 and plan on doing what you are doing as we want three cats. It’s adored and well cared for as will be her children. There is actually a shortage of kittens to be had right now.

SheAndHerAreWomen · 04/03/2022 21:05

Oh blimey leave the OP alone you meanies! I would be very excited to be a kitten granny Grin Hope mummy cat has a smooth pregnancy 🐱

nettytree · 04/03/2022 21:06

I hope you are prepared to pay £££ if your cat has to have an emergency c section. Totally irresponsible.

Georgeskitchen · 04/03/2022 21:06

Please make sure you get your cat spayed after and make sure the kittens new owners spay them. I'm not trying to hand your arse to you on a plate, just that I support a few local cat rescues and they see first hand the misery caused by un-neutered cats who keep breeding
That is all. Good luck and I hope the pregnancy goes well xx

MrsElm · 04/03/2022 21:15

OP the only way you can redeem yourself is to promise to bring us photos of the little kitties when they arrive ☺

Happenchance · 04/03/2022 21:15

Has the vet tested your cat to check if she's caught FIV?

I hope you have the time and money for a cesarean and to hand rear the kittens if she rejects them.

vipersnest1 · 04/03/2022 21:16

How lovely! After you have made your money selling the kittens that have buyers, I sincerely hope you are prepared to look after any remaining ones....
if you haven't worked it out by now, it's totally irresponsible to allow a cat to have kittens just because you want them to.
If you really care about the welfare of cats, you would have neutered yours, and considered adopting another (neutered) cat. BiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuitBiscuit
I'm giving you more than one in case you've missed the meaning.

violetbunny · 04/03/2022 21:22

I suggest volunteering for a rescue and seeing first-hand not only the volume of unwanted cats, but also the heartbreaking state many of them are in when they arrive. I can't believe anyone would purposely get their cat pregnant having seen this with their own eyes.

Unreasonabubble · 04/03/2022 21:23

The vet checked the cat today. She is very healthy. I have enough money if she has to have any additional assistance through her pregnancy and YES if I had to I jolly well would rear her kittens single handed including every 2 hours throughout the night.

I am NOT selling the kittens.

Sorry but none of you are going to bring me down on this. It is not against the law.

And thank you to all those who have been pleasant about all this and most definitely I will post photos.

Ah that's lovely, OP. My cat had her one and only litter of kittens last year and they were gorgeous! She had 4, we kept one and the other 3 went to family members. I hope she has a smooth pregnancy. Give her a Dreamie and a tummy rub from me Smile

BuddhaForMary · 04/03/2022 21:25

But these won't be unwanted, have you not read the OP?? Christ.
Flippy87 · 04/03/2022 21:26

How irresponsible. Oh well, so long as you get what you want I suppose. Poor, poor cat.

SanFranBear · 04/03/2022 21:34

Sex for girl cats is horrendous, pregnancy isn't much fun, I can't imagine childbirth will be a bundle of laughs for her and then she has most of her babies removed a couple of months in... I know you're happy but at any point did you think of your actual cat - your pet that you profess to love?

MyBottleOfRibena · 04/03/2022 21:34

@BuddhaForMary

I’m sure none of the 1000s of cats and kitten in rescue centres were unwanted at some point in their life, and yet there they are, in a rescue centre

cas66 · 04/03/2022 21:38

Genuinely wonder why you would put your cat, who has been the best companion ever so presumably given you so much already, through the discomfort/pain of pregnancy and birth. Do you think she will enjoy it?

Ncwinc · 04/03/2022 21:43

One litter, so maybe 4 kittens. So if each of the owners you have ready to take on kittens have your attitude, that’s 4 kittens that in 18 months will be the parents of 4 kittens each, so 16 plus the original 4 =20. So 18 months on from that each of the 16 kittens will be the parents of one litter each, so 64 kittens plus the 16 plus the original 4 = 84.

In 3 years, the ‘only one litter’ attitude would mean 84 cats.
