Can you tell me about and show me your black cats please?

My beautiful part bengal died about 4 months ago and we’re getting another kitten in January. We chose a lovely little black kitten. My partner was drawn to him and I know black cats often are the hardest to re home.

Are they as loving as I hear? Mine will probably be an indoor cat (no debates please) will he be tolerable of that?

Thanks!

I have two and they are amazingly affectionate, especially the boy cat.
I don't understand why people like black cats less 🐈‍⬛

I had two black Persian sisters. They were/ are the best. I got to tell them apart fairly quickly. But occasionally couldn't decide who was who. Also had a gorgeous black moggy as a teenager. He was lovely.

I bloody love a black cat. Have had two absolute dreamboats over the years. Current cat is an arsey mackerel tabby Grin

Toddlerteaplease · 20/12/2021 23:03

They are a nightmare to get good pictures of. Especially as they are so flat faced.

Theunamedcat · 20/12/2021 23:06

We refer to them as voids because you cant get a decent picture of them if they blink it looks like there head is on backwards Grin

ElfCalavicci · 20/12/2021 23:09

I have a black and white cat , his black bits are just as affections and playful as his white bits Grin🤣🤣

QueenFool · 20/12/2021 23:11

I've owned many cats and my favourite was a black cat!

She would fuss, cuddle, purr and nuzzle my ears so much, she'd drool all over me because she was purring so much. I was so allergic to her, but she was worth it.

Biscuitandacuppa · 20/12/2021 23:11

I have 3 cats, 2 are black and white and 1 completely black.

She’s my favourite, she’s tiny (born prem), very chatty, and a completely adores people. She cuddles up in bed with my dd, spends hours on my knee. Even my mum who isn’t a cat person adored her. Can’t get a decent photo though as she’s so black!

I have two fully black and one tuxedo and they are all lovely and affectionate in different ways. One is like jelly he is so flexible and will sleep in funny positions on my lap and sits on the kitchen counter mewing pitifully demanding treats like he's never been fed. One purrs like a little engine and has the cutest little legs and the softest fur. The tuxie was previously shy and then figured out he loves a fuss and will demand he gets all the attention especially when the others are getting fuss. He doesn't meow but sings at a high pitched tone when he is looking for me or his siblings. Often they all sleep together in a big pile of purry warmth ❤

Camembear · 20/12/2021 23:25

Mine is friendly, calm and patient. Also follows me out on walks.

kirinm · 21/12/2021 07:08

@nancybotwinbloom

He's a brother of my black and white cat.

Totally different personality to his brother.

Will not go outside. No reason for this.

Removes himself from everything on Sundays. We have tracked this. He disappears Sunday morning and hides. Does not like to be found or disturbed it's like this is his day to recoup the week.

Hates the dog will not tolerate him at all. His brother loves him.

Won't eat wet food. Only dry.

He's like a monk, living a basic life in every aspect but will rub his head against you for strokes but will not sit on your knee or sleep with us. His brother Sleeps on my head.

He's not aggressive he is literally like a shadow.

But if the dreamies come out he's there.

So sweet. Do you know how old he is?
kirinm · 21/12/2021 07:16

I had 2 black cats (well, one had white paws) and they were both extremely affectionate. The younger one definitely got more affectionate as she got older until she because super needy and like Velcro. Sadly they've both gone now and we can't get another cat at the moment 😭

TalkedTooMuchStayedTooLong · 21/12/2021 07:37

I've always had a black cat I'm the mix for as long as I've had cats (over 40 years), sometime alone, sometimes with litter mates, currently with two unrelated friends. Here's my current madam.

Oh, yes! Both my black cats have been extremely loving. My present boy is mega intelligent too. I love everything about black cats - their appearance, their nature - they are wonderful!

Eggnoggoanngoanngoann · 22/12/2021 18:41

This is my permanent evening position. Under my own black furry bundle of love. Most affectionate cat in the world. Actually stands on two feet on the bed in the mornings with arms outstretched and meows to be lifted on to my shoulder. Lets everyone in the house grab poke and generally annoy him. Loves to roll over so we can all rub our faces into his belly and blow in his fur hahaha. Loves my son (in his 20s) to pretend to eat his ears or face. Favorite pass time at mo is to sit in the bath and play with trickles of water. Enjoy your new furbaby

We have two rescues cats - one black and one black and white. The black one I’m guessing due to her past history was very timid and nervous but now the most loving cat ever. Before our home she was an indoor cat, we do let them put but they dont go out of our garden. They could but choose not to. we had to keep the litter box as they don’t go put much.
At the rehome centre when asked what type/colour cats we were intrested in, she was shocked when we said any two that need a home. Black cats are apparently difficult to rehome as they not good at being Instagram/Facebook photos-which was bizarre! But we love our two fur balls.

Karmagoat · 22/12/2021 19:00

This is my Luna we adopted her from a rescue just over a year ago, she loves a snuggle and is a friendly girl. Sometimes she acts more like a dog than a cat. She does love to explore outside though.

@Coookiee

My beautiful girl. She's the loveliest cat in the world and so affectionate. Although, tbf we've had loads of cats over the years, of differing colours, and most have been very friendly and affectionate. I love cats so much.
What a stunning coat she has, so shiny!
Plump82 · 22/12/2021 19:58

My girl is so friendly. And very, very clever. She has different chirps and meows for different things she wants and just loves to play fetch. It's her favourite thing. She loves cuddles but she will only lie in your arms not on your knee. She's the tiniest wee thing ever but had the loudest meow and she'll stand outside the bathroom wailing till you come out as she misses you so much! She also adores boxes, the smaller the better and sitting on top of doors!

When I adopted my two there had been plenty of interest in my ginger kitten, but people didn't want my handsome two year old black cat and they came as a pair. Meant I got two beautiful loving cats though ❤.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 22/12/2021 20:01

Can't post a picture as the phone app is rubbish. But my black cat is my best mate. He's 13 now but he is the most loving cat. He doesn't do cuddles unless he wants one but he likes to curl up round your head at night time and purr like a freight train

userxx · 22/12/2021 20:03

Black is the best colour in cats and dogs. Black greyhounds are also harder to rehome, no idea why as their fur is the softest.

scarpa · 22/12/2021 20:04

We've got an ex-feral black cat. He's enormous because he eats like he's still a street cat (including out of any bins he finds), hasn't got two brain cells to rub together, has the loudest and most annoying meow I've ever heard, and is the tiny love of my life - an affectionate, kissy snuggly boy who would sleep tucked under my arm every night if I let him.
