Ridiculous things you do for or because of your cat?

I’m always cold and my office is freezing so I dress as if I’m living & working in Arctic conditions. That’s fine in the morning but coming home I usually do a bit of shopping so I have heavy bags, a laptop, books and a couple flights of stairs up to my flat. I’m hot and sweaty when I get to the door and desperately needing to get my layers off.

The Cat always acts as if she’s been abandoned for days and as soon as I’m inside will lay there like a pathetic pile of fur needing at least 5 minutes of love and attention. If I try to walk she gets in my way, tripping me. So what have I been doing for the past few winters?? Dump all my stuff on the floor, strip until I’m in my bra & trousers or tights and sit down cuddling her. Semi naked with her long fur sticking on my sweaty skin because I don’t want her waiting an extra couple minutes. I am so bloody ridiculous 🙈

Doesn't she just!

She is magnificent! Looks perfect for squeezing huggingGrin

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/10/2021 14:15

That’s a death stare to be proud of.

ppeatfruit · 30/10/2021 13:30

onlymyself Ours MUST have freshly run tap water. Maybe yours is waiting for a fresh refill! Annoyingly she will happily drink from the bowls we leave out on the terrace for any passing creature that's thirsty! Sometimes it has rainwater and leaves in it!

Toddlerteaplease · 30/10/2021 15:56

@Silkieschickens thank god I'm not the only one who sent their cats to the cattery for the first time with written instructions. They must have though I was insane! In my defence magic and Maia were identical to strangers and I really didn't want magic to have hers sisters heart medication!

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/10/2021 16:09

We only didn’t because it was a rush job.

Nemorth · 30/10/2021 22:01

I'm too hot, daren't move because cat is on me and he's under vet orders to rest...so I've just popped an ice cube down my top!!

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 30/10/2021 22:11

I have toast every morning just so the cat can lick the melted butter off my plate.

On the odd occasion I can't (ie moldy bread) I've been known to melt some butter for her in the microwave just so she doesn't miss out.

@VexedofVirginiaWater

Having to get up and walk to the kitchen, not to feed the cat - oh no! She's already been fed - but to Show Her The Food. Once I have shown her that there is indeed food in her saucer, then she eats it as if it has just magically appeared. This has to be done six or seven times a day.
Assumed this was just my cat!
ppeatfruit · 31/10/2021 09:14

Fingers and Vexed That behaviour is because they often can't see immediately in front of them on the floor. (dh googled it and that's what it said so it must be true!)

Often Millie has to be stood over to get her to eat. She looks at my legs for reassurance and then eats more enthusiastically. I hate leaving her because of that.

Dh is WFH
The cats have breakfast , go out then malecat gos off to sleep on our bed , femalecat "helps" DH with his work. Either sleeping, pawing his arm of bombing zoom meetings

At "DreamiesTime" she is there . DH gives the treats then goes upstairs to give malecat his Dremies on our bed .

And he complained the guinea-pigs did nothing Halloween Shock

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/10/2021 19:31

My cat's being watching youtube videos of squirrels and aquariums to distract her from the fireworks.

I need the ipad back for spotify.

@RockingAmadeus @MrsCatE I love the colour coordination! As I mentioned mine hates furry textures. If she wants to snuggle up to me while I’m under the blanket, I have to cover it with a sheet or another thin blanket so it doesn’t offend her highnesses toe beans.

I bought a whole garden office to use as an art/craft studio so as not to disturb/kick out the cats who spend their days snoozing in the spare room. Sorry I mean their room.

ppeatfruit · 01/11/2021 09:41

Yes 70s DH WFM too (he's retired but still does some bits) he allows our male demi main coon stray (named Marcel) to sit right on him while he's on line; licks his beard, bites his hands 'fondly!' He knows to wait for him outside when dh has been out too. He is just like a dog.

Missey85 · 12/11/2021 14:48

I buy my cat sashimi and steak as treats I also poach chicken just for her she eats better than I do some nights ☺
