I took a bit of a gamble. Our old cat passed away in November and I have really felt her absence. We have 2 other much younger cats, but I really missed the dynamic of 3 cats.
I saw this boy, aged 8, who needed a home due to the owners poor health. He was in a local place that really don't vet owners so I wanted to make sure he had a good home.
Collected him at lunch time, and my god he is amazing, so naughty and vocal, but just the best! I've confined him to the living room, but he really is the least arsed cat I've ever met Grin. He has wanted aaaaaall the attention and strokes from the second he was in my car. The big beast actually broke the cat carrier and escaped whilst I'm doing 60mph on a dual carriage way. He then proceeded to shove himself under my feet as I'm driving. I don't even know how I made it home quite frankly.
He walked in like he owned the place. Ate all the cat treats, monopolised the cat toys, did a big stinky shit (I have never smelled anything quite so repugnant!) and then has meowed the rest of the day for attention, and demanding kisses.
He is just gorgeous. I love him! He is everything I wanted in a cat! My other 2 are females and are very aloof. Well, one is, the other is DP's floozy Wink. This one is my turn for a cat to love me!

Just got to do the introductions at some stage. Just hope it goes well!

"A big, stinky shit"!? You certainly have a way with words!!

Crazycatlady202020 · 14/03/2021 21:43

He is beautiful Smile Looks like he has made himself at home already! X

claireb7rg · 14/03/2021 21:46

Oh he's gorgeous! And so ginger... Sounds very similar to my ginger boy who rules the house in the same way...

He also does big stinky 'trouble nuggets' in the litter tray

He is just super! Reminds me of my childhood ginger cat. Orlando the marmalade cat. Decades later we had two more, one called peanut and the other called cfor. All such characters.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget

Ahh

With that 'tasche and his obvious love of luxury , there's only one name ...

Freddie ( as in Mr Mercury obvs) Grin

Oh yes! Definitely and the vocals too, plus Freddie Mercury loved cats.
ShaunaRae · 14/03/2021 22:22

Congratulations! What a handsome boy

I love Jaffa

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 14/03/2021 22:27

My ginger cat is called caramel. When I was growing up we had a ginger called copper.

smellyolddog · 14/03/2021 22:32

My vote is for copper, I'm a dog person 100% as I'm allergic to cats but even I will add to the fact he is indeed a very handsome boy.

Purplecatshopaholic · 14/03/2021 22:35

Aww, he’s gorgeous

Cowbells · 14/03/2021 22:36

Ginger toms are the best. Very chatty, love lots of attention and affection. Does he do proper hugs (one paw either side of your neck)?
He'll be sleeping on you rbed all night before you know it.

Giraffey1 · 14/03/2021 22:37

Excellent! I hope he remains such a positive addition to your home!

Giraffey1 · 14/03/2021 22:38

My first ginger cat was called McVitie!

Damnrightwrong · 14/03/2021 22:44

Aww I want to nuzzle him, he is SO handsome! Congrats OP Smile

MessAllOver · 14/03/2021 22:53

He's lovely... clearly at home in his new kingdom.

My vote is for Oscar or Pancake. But I think your name suggestions are great.

My ginger boy does, his name is George and we call him Georgie bear as he very huggy like a giant Teddy bear.
Toddlerteaplease · 15/03/2021 20:17

Come on Op. what is he called?'

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 16/03/2021 07:52

Fabulous, look at the great sleeping lion on the sofa arm Grin

JorisBonson · 16/03/2021 07:54

OP, I'm in love! As the owner of a big fat demanding, wild, stupidly naughty ginger boy, I'd say you made the right choice Smile

dorothy3 · 16/03/2021 10:18

Op any updates or more photos?? Could do with some cheer in these times. 🐈🐈🐈🐈🐈

UnderHisAye · 16/03/2021 10:22

I think his name should be Stache as he has an excellent moustache Grin

MrsWP · 16/03/2021 10:37

Oh my he is beautiful!!

I think the fact that he's been so submissive is a great sign for future.

We recently brought home a new boy after losing a cat a few months ago.

Our existing cat (who had seemed a little lonely) was NOT pleased with us at all. Grumbled and hid and grumbled some more.

But thankfully our new guy was just desperate to be friends, very passive, happy to let our existing cat be the boss.

We had a few hisses and swipes but now the heirachy is in place they're both very happy.

Lick each other, sleep together. Which is so surprising as my older cat lived for 11 years with the one we lost and they never were as close. So it's very sweet.

As you're two already are used to sharing a home I'm sure it's going to be fine in time. Slow introductions is the way, but also remember they will need to make all the scary noises etc. That's just how they communicate.

We had a lot of blocking of doorways and stand offs in the hall etc. The little one wasn't really always paying much attention as was more interested in noseying all the rooms he hadn't explored yet. But my old boy took any movement as a threat and had to shout about it so we all knew who lived here first. Hmm

This here too, my non ginger boy brings us mice / birds etc. My typical garfield ginger boy brings us (well for him really clearly) slices of cooked meat 😂😂.

Here's pics of my ginger boy, but we need more pics of yours!!

Well, just over a week in and he has settled in beautifully. He is so loving and demanding of attention! He has graduated to lap sitting now, which makes me a happy cat mama! My other two cats are slowly getting used to the idea. I wouldn't say they are happy about matters, but the tolerance level is increasing. We no longer get full on yowling! He is actively trying to befriend them though, so we shall see what he manages to achieve!
We have so far had one vet visit that cost me £35 to be told there is nothing wrong with the discharge from his eyes and that it is normal 🤦‍♀️. I'm now expecting a second £35 trip to be told the jam like blood in his stool is also normal and probably due to dietary changes, but I can't help but worry! Bloomin' cats giving me stress!
Oh, his name is Toffee. So we have Honey, Treacle and Toffee now in our cat family!

Toffee looks such a darling. Give him a cuddle for me.

Hope the vet's trip is reassuring, OP.
