Is Alfonso back?

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 29/04/2021 17:59

Funny you should ask, @Papergirl1968! Guess who just strolled down the stairs this morning? He ignored me and went first to his bedroom (yes, it is still there and, no, I hadn't redecorated in the two days AlfonosoCat had been gone) and then into the kitchen for breakfast.

He has been shrieking the house down and spending lots of time on my lap being reassured that I still love him and that nothing has changed.

The only thing I can think is that he got out via the master bedroom window when I wasn't looking.

Papergirl1968 · 29/04/2021 18:06

Oh goodness, what a relief. Naughty Alfonso!

Fluffycloudland77 · 29/04/2021 18:29

You can get mesh panels to go over windows so he can’t use that route again. They are called Flat Cats. Their not ugly looking and it would keep moths and crane flys out in summer.

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 30/04/2021 08:38

Thank you, @papergirl1968. I am so relieved that he is home and that I can stop thinking of all sorts of terrible scenarios.

I will definitely look into those, @Fluffycloudland77. Thanks for the tip.

Congratulations to those who are newly employed! Grumpy, TC updates are still expected! Smile

Allergictoironing · 30/04/2021 08:57

Link to Flat Cats.

I have these for my indoor only kitties, they work really well. Keep the cats in and the insects out, and still allow for breezes to waft through the room. They do them in standard sizes, but will do made to measure if you want as well Smile

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 30/04/2021 13:11

Thanks, @allergictoironing! Definitely worth a look over the weekend.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/04/2021 13:46

Delighted that Alfonso cat has returned, if only they could talk!

Meanwhile there seems to he a new cat on the block. Very friendly, immediately rolled over to have his tum rubbed, spotted a few houses down from us. I imagine this will cause further cat wars though Hmm.

And what a handsome kitty, Grumpy! A boy presumably?

TheLongRider · 30/04/2021 15:52

Grumpy You seem to have Nemo's clone!

So Girlcat survived her MoT, and only cried a little going there & back which is progress. Vet said she's "perfect", and though last time they said they wanted to keep an eye on her teeth she said they are now absolutely fine.

Bloody new job made me fill out a medical questionnaire. The assessment company said I should be fine to do the job but "may need some adjustments" so of course I get a query about this from the new HR. I emailed back to say that my facet joint arthritis is a) controlled by medication, b) is actually improved by walking lots, and c) never caused me any issues doing the same job at my local council. So hopefully they won't decide to withdraw the offer on that basis!

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 30/04/2021 17:18

All the best in the new role, @allergictoironing.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats, what a great neighbourhood! Your new feline overlord is very handsome.

Thanks, @YetAnotherSpartacus!

I didn't want to say anything while AlfonsoCat was missing because I knew that everyone else had their own concerns so it's great to able to post without worries.

Fluffycloudland77 · 30/04/2021 18:10

It’s awful when they go walkabout because you do fear the worst.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 30/04/2021 18:24

Nothing to do with cats - but thought I'd share anyway.
Just been out for a local-ish walk - the Egyptian Geese have had goslings since I was last there. 11 in total although one seems to have 'ducked' out of the photo.

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 30/04/2021 19:31

Aren't they prettty! The goose in the second photo is walking like an Egyptian...

/obscure reference to the Bangles

Allergictoironing · 30/04/2021 20:02

Nicer than the bloody Canada Geese that ran riot where I used to live!

Girlcat's day has just gone from bad to dreadful. She followed me into the kitchen, I went to turn the lights on and one bulb literally exploded! Tiny little shards of glass everywhere, Girlcat fled to behind the sofa while I vacuumed up the debris and has now hidden herself somewhere upstairs. Poor little baby girl Sad

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 30/04/2021 20:53

Poor GirlCat! We've all had days like that. Better to stay in bed.

Justonedayatatime11 · 30/04/2021 21:08

I had forgotten just how much time you can waste cuddling a kitten. Charlie is unamused. He's tried to steal her scratching post Hmm

Allergictoironing · 30/04/2021 21:14

Aw poor little neglected Charlie! He looks so sad and forlorn sitting there...

QueenPaw · 30/04/2021 21:40

Paw paws just jumped up at the window, skidded on the wet windowsill, face planted and slid slowly down. I just heard a thud and a squeak and saw him sliding down the window Grin
Ollie "he stupid"

Justonedayatatime11 · 30/04/2021 21:49

@Allergictoironing he's really not, but he has perfected his sad face. Not like he's got a 5ft scratching post of his own!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 30/04/2021 22:00

Leroy has had me to his little furry self all day today, and after being out for 8 hours yesterday he didn't seem to quite believe it was happening. He looked so unhappy when I got dressed but then heard me pick up his jacket 😁.

Charlie really does do a good sadface. That's a DM worthy sadface!

I can really recommend Flat Cats. You can get mesh with Velcro for windows off Amazon, but personally I find the quality of the professionally made Flat Cats far safer. And yes - they are great for keeping out bugs 😁.

coastergirl · 30/04/2021 22:21

Completely off topic, but @Justonedayatatime11 your eyebrows are amazing! Charlie, bless him. I just love him!

I laughed out loud at the mental image of Paws sliding down the window.

QueenPaw · 30/04/2021 22:44

I nearly jumped out my skin at the massive bang
Paws "no regrets"

Does Paws stay the night still?
