Gods I've had a stressy weekend!
Friday a woman stopped me as a wandered round the town centre (Covid Information Officer me), in the main shopping pedestrian zone, and asked me to have a look at a guy on a bench as he seemed unconscious. Went over to find him propped up against the arm completely unresponsive with no smell of alcohol. Immediately called for an ambulance & a couple of people there helped & got him lying on the bench, one of which suggested diabetic coma.
Police came by just then, so of course all the passers by were stopping & staring, coming close & asking us what was going on, so I went on "crowd control" duty. So many people though that the police called for backup just to keep the rubberneckers away, then when the ambulance arrived closed of that stretch of street. People STILL kept trying to go round the tapes, so more crowd control for me (the power of a council branded hi vis vest!). Eventually he got loaded on the ambulance, & just before I left I was told yes diabetic coma, another 30 mins or so he probably would have died, but he was recovering now.
Then Saturday I was propositioned by a repulsive drunk guy, and later he tried to expose himself to me. Luckily this was in front of witnesses in their regular hang out place, so reported to police when I saw them on Sunday, then spent half of today (my only day a week off) giving statements etc to the police.
Luckily I'm not the type to be phased by that kind of thing, but a) many women are and b) this was right by the main bus stops, so during the week there would have been crowds of kids there.
I really don't want to work tomorrow - not because I'm upset or distressed, but I'm plain knackered after all that!
