My cats are bone idle

I know it's axiomatic that cats sleep all the time, but mine really do take the biscuit when it comes to idleness.
They were all in last night, none have even bothered with a short constitutional outside this morning and I've just looked round the house to find these. The totality of their day has been to get up, eat, pester us over breakfast, use the tray and curl back up.

Only thing that gets Boycat off my bed during the day is a) food or b) cuddles. He's been known to sleep through supper as well, and only saunter down after he's had his bed time cuddles about 2-3 hours later. Girlcat is a BIT more active, she does come down for about an hour mid-afternoon if I'm in, and again in the evening.

Soupdragon and you think cats have an altruistic bone in their bodies? Grin

Hive of activity here. Upright cat!

Sounds like a good life to me! Our catty is marginally more active (no litter tray so she has to go outside) but her days mostly consist of eating, sleeping, having a stretch and back to sleep, or wandering off to find a more comfy spot (there are several favs in the house)

PS your cats look so cosy, you can’t possibly think of disturbing them?! 😻

SedentaryCat · 08/01/2021 11:57

Here are mine. Working hard.

viques · 08/01/2021 11:58

Looking at your cats timetable it looked remarkably similar to my own lockdown timetable except I have to get my own breakfast.

Of course your cats don’t have the problem of feeling guilty because they haven’t hoovered the stairs for a week and the kitchen floor could do with a mop, not to mention the jigsaw that has been on the table since the end of November , but I am working on calming my guilt because I aspire to the nonchalance of a blasé winters day cat.

Your cats are my inspiration, Thankyou for posting.

Not my cat likes to sleep for 6hrs
Mine doesn't. He naps for an hour, eats, shouts at me, goes for a nosy outside, repeat

HerculePoirotsGreyCells · 08/01/2021 12:01

My two have such a hard life. Fish for breakfast then naps wherever they like. They've totally got us wrapped around their paws...

SoupDragon · 08/01/2021 12:03

Soupdragon and you think cats have an altruistic bone in their bodies? Grin
Mine clearly don't as they are both out. Probably at a second home, mixing households.
Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/01/2021 12:26

Clearly I should be more circumspect in what I wish for.
Sybil has briefly girded up her loins in order to jump on my shoulder to sleep - thus continuing her rest but causing much more inconvenience for me while trying to work at the laptop.

Tbh if I had a real fire going I’d be sat in front of it all day too. I dream of an aga. Also, the income to run one and for it not to be a polluter but I remember my friends mum having a coal fired one and no qualms about it either.

CloudyGladys · 08/01/2021 12:46

Are you sure Number 4 is asleep and not just pretending?

YetAnotherSpartacus · 08/01/2021 12:47

Sybil!

WelcomeToTierFive · 08/01/2021 12:49

Cats are excellent at following COVID guidelines 😊

DelurkingAJ · 08/01/2021 12:51

They come alive occasionally to walk across my desk or yell at me because I’m eating and they’re not...

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats what is Sybil? For a moment you had a photo up of my cat!!!

JorisBonson · 08/01/2021 12:53

My two are like that until approximately 9pm when they eat, go out, bring mice and stuff in at about 5am and sing their triumph song in my face.

RandomMess · 08/01/2021 12:54

We also have a purple throw on their our bed which confused me!

what is Sybil?

She's a 10 year old DLH (Battersea moggy) & sister of Basil.

Sybil :)!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 08/01/2021 12:59

Though she sometimes fancies herself as a Welsh dragon.
