What does your dcat eat that you wouldn't expect

Ours likes crumpets, when he was a kitten I discovered one I had left out to defrost had been nibbled all round the edge. Eating one this morning he jumped up beside on the couch(v. unusual) to beg a bit.

Mind you one of my colleagues cats likes curry and will lick any unattended plates left after a meal!

Pork scratchings - he goes mental for these
Custard
Yoghurt
Cheesecake
Any form of strong cheese, mild gets spat out
Milkshakes
Jacket potato
Baked beans

Not read the whole thread but cantaloupe! My first cat went to all sorts of maneuvers to get into the garbage for cantaloupe.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/12/2020 16:58

One of mine absolutely adores mushrooms, she'd ignore fish or meat for a mushroom.

HarrietOh · 08/12/2020 16:59

Cakes, has a particular fondness for blueberry muffins it seems! If the wrapper is left on a plate she’ll go beserk with it trying to get at any crumbs.

HarrietOh · 08/12/2020 17:00

Oh and salad leaves. If I’m eating something on a plate that has leaves she’ll glare at me wanting some!

ChloeCrocodile · 08/12/2020 17:02

Pesto. Little buggers love the stuff so I have to wash up quickly after dinner else they lick all the plates!

Crazzzycat · 08/12/2020 17:08

My cat has a surprising love for vegetables, especially tomatoes, cucumbers, chillies, spinach and basil. Dried apricots are also high on her list of favourite snacks.

She has been known to rip shopping bags apart just so that she can munch on some nice raw chillies 🥵 And when I make risotto I always give her some, or she just won’t leave us alone.

All in all, quite a varied diet for a cat!

holyshitdude · 08/12/2020 17:22

Cheetos, strangely she can't stand any kind of fish.

IHaveBrilloHair · 08/12/2020 19:32

Another of mine, not the mushroom one, is obsessed with bags, if anyone comes into the house with a bag she has to look in it, which means get in it..

I had a cat who loved avocado...very odd

Fairybatman · 08/12/2020 19:50

Weird cat #1 Chicken, tuna, bacon, porridge, spring onion, avocado, custard, muller rice, yogurt, and crinkly plastic.

Weird cat #2 no meat of any kind except minced beef. No other human food. Only cat I’ve ever know turn its nose up at dreamies.

Old cat used to eat absolutely anything but was like a crack addict with anchovies. My dad used to hold one about 6 feet in the air and she would jump and take it out of his fingers.

Ringsender2 · 09/12/2020 01:55

Love this thread!

Current cat goes mad for the 'juice' from black olives in brine. Partial to avocado too. His dear, departed brother was crazy about chocolate - cake, bar, anything he could get his paws on. Gutsy boy would also chew his way through the bread wrapper.

ilovesooty · 09/12/2020 02:42

One of my friend's cats is partial to flapjacks.

polkadotpixie · 09/12/2020 02:48

Mushy peas. My Dad glanced down from the TV once to find her eating off his plate whilst he was still eating 😂

InTheShadowOfTheMushroomCloud · 09/12/2020 03:39

My cat passed away aged 22.
She loved curry...spicier the better. She also loved garlic ( I know it's bad for them) and would try and nick tomato pasta sauce...she also had a thing for cheese on toast...straight out of DHs hand.

Straighttalking1 · 09/12/2020 03:41

My earphones !!!

Fairybatman · 10/12/2020 10:14

@Straighttalking1

My earphones !!!
Why do cats love any cables, but especially Apple cables? I think they hide catnip in the plastic to increase profits!
Shmithecat2 · 10/12/2020 10:15

Toddlerteaplease · 10/12/2020 10:42

I discovered last night that Cheddar does like chicken. But it has to be hand fed. 🙄
