Fingers crossed 🤞

OP I have a cat with kidney disease too - she had her first crash in March, she's only 7. But seems now to be coping pretty well.

We've learned to do subcutaneous fluids and give her a syringe or two of saline when she seems to dip, and I think that's worked well to avoid a crisis so far. Have you started doing these with Flynn? It might help you keep him comfortable a bit longer?

ladybird69 · 21/08/2020 23:23

Awh I hope he recovers well bless him. If it’s any help my Ragdoll has been sleeping in the bathroom sink during this hot weather, so hopefully it’s just the weather.

isamonster · 21/08/2020 23:24

Crossing my fingers for you.

Update from the vets

He is doing much better

Fluffycloudland77 · 22/08/2020 11:03

He’s obviously a fighter. Are you allowed to visit?.

isamonster · 22/08/2020 12:23

that's such good news. Is he on medication?

EachandEveryone · 22/08/2020 12:48

Brilliant news😃

Fluffycloudland77 · 23/08/2020 08:15

How’s he getting on?.

monkeyonthetable · 23/08/2020 08:31

Our cat sat in the bath when he had a kidney infection. I think it was to show us the problem. If he'd gone outdoors as he usually did, we'd never have noticed his urine was a weird colour. He recovered completely from it.

monkeyonthetable · 23/08/2020 08:42

Glad he is getting better.

KatyMac · 23/08/2020 10:44

Better again today but not out of the woods

He was already on special food if he eould eat it, lactose, ipakitine (spell?) Another liquid and he has tablets to take if he is sick or off his food

I'm sure we could visit but im away emptying my mums house

isamonster · 23/08/2020 11:53

sounds like you have treatment covered. My boy was on semintra for the last few years. It was very good as you just squirted it into his mouth.

I'm sorry too hear about your mum. That is really tough all at once. Such a horrible year.

KatyMac · 23/08/2020 14:12

I think the phrase 2020 will pass into the language as a swear word - shit year I lost a cousin to suicide and my dd is struggling with the lost of her profession (performer) and black lives matter has been very hard

Sementra is what he is on

OP posts:
isamonster · 23/08/2020 15:37

Sorry to hear about your cousin, 2020 has turned out to be brutal so far.

I sympathise with your dd, lost my job after 14 years and struggling to find something else. It is true that black lives matter has brought out the best and worst in society.

Clearing out your mum's house must be incredibly sad. I think you have the right to feel swamped. I'll cross my fingers for Flynn. Semintra gave my oldie a few more years. I managed his kidney problems for 10 years - he reached 18. Let us know how it goes

KatyMac · 24/08/2020 07:07

I have split everything into keep/don't
The cat is better again than Saturday so he is improving
I have a dressfitting at my mums this morning then I'm off home ro see if I can collect that cat

Thanks @isamonster and thanks everyone xxx

How lovely! 🐾

isamonster · 24/08/2020 17:09

Well done Flynn! So happy for you 😻

ChippingIn · 24/08/2020 17:22

Hi

I'm glad Flynn is coming home. 🐾 💕

Both of mine ended up with kidney failure. It's so so hard, because they do 'rally'. Both long stories, but GirlCat was very ill when my Dad died suddenly & making THE decision was very hard, I probably should have made it sooner, but she'd lay on me, snuggle in & lick my tears. She seemed 'ok' in herself, but I feel guilty in case she wasn't.

I kept meaning to PM you to see how DD was doing, I figured it would hit her hard & wondered how she was coping.

& to say I hope DH is keeping well.

How are you getting on with your mums house?

😘🌷

Madcats · 24/08/2020 20:39

Well done Flynn, with a bit of help from "new vet".

Get busy with the camera/phone and take all the photos and videos you wished you had.

KatyMac · 25/08/2020 08:08

Typed a huge post saying thank you - it disappeared but thanks to all of you, so much

I squirted the aemintra in his mouth this morning rather than his food maybe thats better dunno if I can do that wot all the Lactose!!!

@ChippingIn DH is getting his fitness and stamina back slowly after shielding but we are still taking it carefully!
DD is a better now the house is cleared and Septber is approaching (Jan/April and Sept are all new start times in our psyche)
We will monitor Flynn carefully as he is loved by so many visitors- a sewing customer posted a review of him rather than of the sewing!!

Thanks again
