Cat lost in Knightsbridge

Our indoor cat suddenly run right out of the gate when we opened it to collect a parcel today and has been missing since 6 o'clock this evening. She is a house cat so she only ever goes outside on a leash. We have gone around everywhere looking for her and we will make posters for tomorrow to stick around. I have posted on Facebook and every other social media I have but no replies so far.
Her name is Momo and she will come to anyone who bends down to stroke her (this is why I am so worried). She will meow at anyone she sees and will try to interact with you. She is a 1.5 year old white ragdoll cat and her tail fades to a grey colour (see pictures).
We are in Knightsbridge, London so if anyone sees her then please please post on here and I will come and collect her.
Has anyone experienced a house cat running away from home? How long did it take for him/her to come back?
We are all very very worried so please please tell me if you happen to see her.

That's very worrying. Is she chipped and neutered?

You need to leave food and water outside, front and back, day and night, for at least two weeks.

Vinorosso74 · 13/08/2020 23:01

I hope she's chipped. Do you use Nextdoor? There's always lost and found cat posts on our local one (elsewhere in London) and cats are regularly reunited.

quodvox · 13/08/2020 23:02

She's beautiful op.
I'll keep everything crossed for a speedy return.

ddeokbokki · 13/08/2020 23:04

@thecatneuterer @Vinorosso74 Yes she is chipped and neutered. We have just left food and water outside. I will have a look on Nextdoor thanks xx

She's gorgeous.
Can you leave her litter tray outside so she can smell her way back in case she goes a bit further afield?
Hope she comes back soon Thanks

ddeokbokki · 13/08/2020 23:12

@IAmTooBloodyHot I will try that thank you xx

There's a huge chance she is very nearby and hiding.
You need to empty out your hoover bag and even hang some used clothes / pillow cases at the boundary of your house / garden so she can catch your scent easily.
You should try calling her at 2/3/4/5amwhen it is very quiet and she feels safe leaving her hiding spot.
Best of luck

Mykittensaremyfriends · 13/08/2020 23:18

She won't have gone very far if she's an indoor cat so most likely hiding somewhere very close to home. You need to get down very low when searching for her, listen carefully and look for any signs of her like tufts of fur and use a touch as it'll reflect in her eyes. Better to search late evening/early morning when it's quieter. Leave her dirty litter tray out and empty the contents of your vacuum close by so she can pick up the scent. Familiar noises (shaking treats, etc) may encourage to come out from where's she hiding but it could take her a day or so to build up her courage to come out. Put a box or something she can shelter in somewhere quiet as she may shelter in it if she ventures from her hiding spot. A cat went missing in our city centre recent and was found a few days later very close to home so she'll have just found somewhere to hide from the un militar smells and sounds. Good luck finding her

ddeokbokki · 13/08/2020 23:22

@1940s @Mykittensaremyfriends Thanks I will try that

Mention she is spayed and chipped on the posters along with a small reward for safe return, “her family is missing her”.
I do hope she comes back to you. Ring around the London shelters, she could travel a long way if disorientated.

orangenasturtium · 13/08/2020 23:28

She's beautiful.

We had a house cat escape and return home as if nothing had happened after several days. She is probably hiding somewhere nearby. I would leave something out for her to hide in near the food and water, perhaps put something of hers in it that smells like home. Maybe even leave a small container of her used litter outside so she recognises home.

LightDrizzle · 13/08/2020 23:29

We used to walk round dinging a porcelain bowl with a spoon and calling their name, when one of our cats went missing. It’s amazing how they responded as it wasn’t something we specifically trained for.
One cat was stuck in something at our local tip and my mum found her because she mewed in response to the dinging and calling.

violetbunny · 14/08/2020 01:16

You should focus on doing an intense physical search of any neighbouring properties. One thing to know a that she may be displaced and hiding in fear, in which case she may not come when called.

There is some good advice here which is based on a proper study of missing cat behaviour, my cat went missing recently and I spent a lot of running reading up on this topic:

Vinorosso74 · 14/08/2020 13:04

Any sign of her?

ddeokbokki · 14/08/2020 16:40

@Vinorosso74 Not yetSad
We've left food and the litter box outside and we went around during the early hours this morning but no sign of her yet.

LightDrizzle · 14/08/2020 16:58

So sorry to read this. Don’t give up hope, they can survive for a long time.

IAmTooBloodyHot · 14/08/2020 17:05

Maybe leave the back door/window open, when you are in the house, in case she wants to sneak back in when you're not looking.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/08/2020 17:37

She’s distinctive which is a bonus, do you have a fb spotted page?.

Rupertpenrysmistress · 14/08/2020 17:56

Oh op I am sorry she is beautiful. I lost my Maine coon when she was only 4 months old, not neutered or chipped. She came back on the 4th day.

This is what I did.
Alerted all the local vets and I cluded pictures, Facebook, pets reunited website they put out alerts to local areas. I printed posters and leaflets and canvassed as far as we could physically walk. Posters on lamp posts.put out food including a tin of sardines for the smell, I put her litter tray and blankets in the garden.

We went out multiple times a day including 2 and 5 am! On the 3rd day I walked around knocking local doors asking people to check garages and sheds. I offered quite a substantial reward too!
I guess I was lucky as we have a cat flap operated by chip so we wedged it open.

On the 4th night she returned at midnight all by herself.
Your cat may be familiar with the area if she is walked on a leash so that might help.
Good luck I really hope you find her it's heartbreaking.

Oldestchild90s · 14/08/2020 20:24
