Cat lost in Knightsbridge

ddeokbokki · 13/08/2020 22:51

Our indoor cat suddenly run right out of the gate when we opened it to collect a parcel today and has been missing since 6 o'clock this evening. She is a house cat so she only ever goes outside on a leash. We have gone around everywhere looking for her and we will make posters for tomorrow to stick around. I have posted on Facebook and every other social media I have but no replies so far.
Her name is Momo and she will come to anyone who bends down to stroke her (this is why I am so worried). She will meow at anyone she sees and will try to interact with you. She is a 1.5 year old white ragdoll cat and her tail fades to a grey colour (see pictures).
We are in Knightsbridge, London so if anyone sees her then please please post on here and I will come and collect her.
Has anyone experienced a house cat running away from home? How long did it take for him/her to come back?
We are all very very worried so please please tell me if you happen to see her.

@saltycat

Knightsbridge you say. OK

But I suppose you will counter this by looking for those in your area who might find her.

I am not a cat lover, so am probably biased. But hope your wealthy neighbours find this cat for you.

Sorry, is wealth relevant when looking for a lost cat? Hmm
LizB62A · 14/08/2020 20:58

Your best bet is to go out later (when it's hopefully a bit quieter) and call for her and shake some cat treats or whatever sound she'll recognise

Oldestchild90s · 14/08/2020 21:05

@saltycat Regardless of where op lives i think she's just looking for help. What's your problem?

confusednortherner · 14/08/2020 21:26

We had a rag doll who went walkabout and strolled in a few days later. I swear by the hoover bag trick, may be coincidence but twice we've had cats come home after putting it out. Everything crossed for you 🤞

Inthebackoftheimpala · 14/08/2020 21:35

Hope your kitty comes home. My girl housecat has been missing since last night also. Fingers crossed they wander home soon.

No need to mention Knighsbridge maybe?

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 14/08/2020 22:10

Um, she needs to mention Knightsbridge if there's others mumsnetters nearby!

My cat came home after 10 days OP, completely nonplussed. Not an indoor cat but as good as. Good luck.

saltycat · 14/08/2020 22:16

Love the British attitude to cats.

This is so fucking nasty.

This is a thread about a cat (of no interest to you) missing from a particular area (also, of no relevance to you) so feel free to fuck off to any of the thousands of other threads on here rather than acting like a vile bitch.

OP, I hope she comes home soon. I had a Ragdoll too and they’re such softies, I can only imagine how worried you are.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/08/2020 22:35

If you’ve got a torch their eyes reflect in it at night and their easier to find.

Can you offer a reward?.

Chocforthewin · 14/08/2020 22:41

I hope your cat comes back safely & quickly
OP💞

StatementKnickers · 14/08/2020 22:58

Go screw yourself @saltycat you bitter, jealous bitch. If you're "not a cat lover" why are you on this forum?

OP, Momo is gorgeous. I'm not far from Knightsbridge (some people live in nice places @saltycat - die mad about it). I'm just getting over an illness but if she's still missing, PM me your location and I'll try to get over there and have a look for her this weekend.

orangenasturtium · 14/08/2020 23:18

@saltycat this is the litter tray board so it's hardly surprising we are cat lovers Grin

Posting here has given OP some sensible advice from cat owners and, even if it's a long shot, there are plenty of MNers in Knightsbridge/Kensington. I run in the park every day so that's one extra pair of eyes...

Longdistance · 14/08/2020 23:35

Aww, I hope your lovely kitty comes home soon. They seem to go a bit loopy in the heat and go missing. Both my cats did this, one was a house cat, the other roamed loads but decided to find a house with other cats for company.

TokyoSushi · 14/08/2020 23:38

Such a beautiful cat, I really hope she's home soon.

StatementKnickers · 14/08/2020 23:43

@ddeokbokki I have checked the pet selling pages of Pets4Homes and Gumtree for you and there's no sign of her there. She's probably scared and hiding close to home. Is she microchipped?

OhTheRoses · 14/08/2020 23:46

saltycat miaow.

OP - fingers crossed for you and the lost kit girl. Please update us x

ddeokbokki · 14/08/2020 23:57

@StatementKnickers So great to know there are such lovely people in this world. Thank you ever so much for offering but don't worry 6 of us split up to go and look for her every 2 hours. I hope you get well soon xx

Love the British attitude to cats.
Being rude about the British now as well as being bitter about someone living in a nice area?

I'm sure she'll come back soon OP and yours @Inthebackoftheimpala.

Fingers crossed for you both 🤞

Annist · 15/08/2020 00:25

Good luck OP. Speak to everyone. Put up flyers. Leave a window open in the front and back so she can get in if she comes back of her own accord.

OneMoreLight · 15/08/2020 00:50

The only time my previous partners house car went out the house she was just sat on next doors windowsill.

We'd looked all over but a black cat in the dark was hard time spot!

Geppili · 15/08/2020 01:09

She's so beautiful! Really hope you find her.

NotMyFinestMoment · 15/08/2020 03:18

She is unlikely to be very far as in within a few doors of your home (going in a circle around your home which includes back gardens). You need to go out and call for her repeatedly every hour or two as she is probably hiding somewhere nearby and frightened as she doesn't have her bearings. There is also every chance she will hear you but not respond initially so you may walk past her several times before she makes her presence known to you. Call her loudly whilst clapping or shaking her biscuit box and try do to this every couple of hours (also continue to call her after dark even if its just from a window so she can hear you and follow your voice). I did this with 3 of my cats over the years who got out and disappeared. All of them returned and all of them were literally within 5 or so properties of my home. Two of them I must have walked past a dozen times but wouldn't come out because they were terrified but they did come out after dark and one responded to me calling from an upstairs window (he started mewing in response to his name being called and I was able to work out he was on a garage roof about 4 houses away and he came down and followed my voice - similar thing with the other cat who was hiding at the side of the building, I walked past him a dozen times and it was only when I walked past somewhere between the 10-12th time, I thought I heard a tiny meow but wasn't sure, so stood quietly and kept calling him and finally he meowed loudly enough for me to walk out where he was - I had to go to him as he was too scared to come out). Persistence and patience is key and don't be in too much of a hurry when you are walking about and calling for her as she may be trying to work out your location to hers and how to get to you and that may take her a little time. Good luck.x

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 15/08/2020 03:46

I agree that she probably wont have gone far. My Ragdoll got out last week and we spent a frantic hour looking for him, only to find him hiding about ten feet from the back door. He usually responds to calling his name, but he was just totally freaked out by being outside! So look in every nook and cranny! Good luck, hope you find her soon.

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2020 09:00

Yes, my Persian did the same. She was hiding behind next doors bins!
