We noticed Col was a little under the weather Sunday so he went off to the vets Monday where his temp was very raised but vet couldn't find anything specific, so he had antibiotics with a view to blood tests if no improvement. He perked up a little and had some food and went back to the vet on Wednesday.
Vet was happy with his temp reducing and sent him home with Loxicom but he didn't really eat or drink after he came home. He did go out in the garden to do his business but didn't move apart from that. We have a camera so can see what he's doing upstairs
He didn't get up with Dad at 4am and I had to wake him, he walked a few steps then fell over and was distressed when I picked him up so back to the vet
Vet found he had a heart murmur was very pale and his bladder was blocked so he was rushed off for surgery. His bladder was apparently b loo caked with blood clots and the verdict was he had been poisoned with rat poison and was bleeding internally
He rallied a little and was sitting up in his cage when the vet phoned at 7.30pm but deteriorated overnight. I got to the vets at 8.15 and they let me into to se him. Vet said his blood wasn't clotting at all even when the did a blood test the nurse had to try and stop it bleeding. He was comotose and had very low temp so they were trying to warm him with a mat and the nurses hands
I went into see him and he was absolutely freezing and his lips and eyes were white. He was quite a pitiful sight and I nearly said to PTS sleep then but the vet thought there was hope. His blood results weren't back at that point and when they were they showed 5 when it should of been minimum 40 red blood cell count. The little love had effectively lost all his red blood cells
Our little gorgeous funny Colin passed away a short time after. Frankly it was a needless cruel horrible death
To say we are devastated is an understatement. We don't know how this happened but it just makes me so angry at the moment
I bought Col home and he is buried by his favourite bush. Dexter went to see him and was a little confused but Col did smell very vet. I saw on the camera he went a few times more to see him
This is Col Wednesday night and I didn't have the heart to move him so squeezed in the side but in true Col fashion he buggered off to his underneath bed. Col and not my cat in the background
