Oh lord Oldraver I’m so sorry. That’s a shocking way to lose him. This is just awful.

It’s madness they let the general public buy rat poison.

Oldraver · 16/05/2021 10:02

@ I know Im so cross. Vet thinks he may of got hold of a poisoned rat but we will never know

Supersimkin2 · 16/05/2021 11:13

I am so terribly sorry for you. Be kind to yourself. If it helps, remember it is his lovely life that counts most, not his passing.

coastergirl · 16/05/2021 11:34

Popping over from the Ollie thread to say I'm so sorry @Oldraver. I lost my precious Bertie before Christmas to anti-freeze poisoning. It hurts so much and reading this brought it all back. Love to you.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 16/05/2021 11:48

Heartbroken.

I'm so, so, sorry Flowers.

JoanOgden · 16/05/2021 12:57

I am so sorry - what a dreadful loss. Poor lovely Col Sad

weekend2021 · 16/05/2021 13:00

I could cry for you. So very sorry x

TheLongRider · 16/05/2021 13:42

Ah no, I'm so very sorry for all of you. Colin lived his best life with you. I'll be thinking of you all.

Oh I'm so sorry Oldraver.

Colin was a very fine cat who lived a life of love with you

OnceUponAMidnightBeery · 16/05/2021 19:27

I’m so sorry @Oldraver Flowers

I don’t post here often as not currently owned by a DCat but I often drop in to catch up on the antics.

He had a fabulous time with you Flowers

Papergirl1968 · 16/05/2021 21:00

I'm so sorry, Oldraver. And so angry.
Col was beautiful.

nettie434 · 16/05/2021 23:27

I am so very sorry, Oldraver. Colin was a very handsome cat whose personality shone through your posts and in your photos. He led a wonderful life with you.

Like others, I am shocked anyone thought it was ok to use rat poison where other animals might get access to it. It reminds me of a friend of mine whose dog ate what the vet thought was weedkiller in a field through which there was a public footpath. There were no signs warning owners. The dog survived but it was touch and go. He was never really the same again.

Poor Dexter too and Mr Oldraver too.

cricketmum84 · 17/05/2021 08:13

I'm so so sorry for your loss @Oldraver it's truly heartbreaking. We almost lost Ivy to poisoning a couple of years ago but thankfully she pulled through after 12 days in vet hospital. I know just how heartbreaking and stressful it is when they are so poorly, especially when it's something that could have been avoided 😢

Sending gentle fluffy hugs (now we are allowed again!).

cricketmum84 · 17/05/2021 08:19

Today Ivy and Betsy are mainly trying to help with my payroll audit! Not sure how much help they are going to be...

It’s moral support. 10/10 helping skills

cricketmum84 · 17/05/2021 10:40

Would be 10/10 if I could see my screen 😂 and didn't constantly have Ivy's fluffy butt in my face.... Betsy has given up and gone for a nap in her play tunnel

So sorry about Colin 😰 Flowers

cricketmum84 · 21/05/2021 10:02

Fluffum/Betsy/BetsyBooBear is birdwatching 😂

Still hasn't convinced her to venture outside though.

I don't know if you are still on this thread OldRaver but I just wanted to say that I am still thinking of you and your DH Flowers.

EachandEveryone · 21/05/2021 14:58

Yes I’m very sorry too it’s heartbreaking,

EachandEveryone · 21/05/2021 15:00

Daphne is 5 today! Where did that time go? I never even liked cats 5 years ago now I’m tripping over them Grin

Happy birthday to Daphne!

Today Betsy is mostly hiding from the dematting brush. She HATES being brushed but as a long haired mcfluffum it's a necessary evil. She knows I'm going to brush out that knot that I've seen on her back leg....

cricketmum84 · 03/06/2021 09:53

Hope you are doing ok @Oldraver Thanks

Oldraver · 16/06/2021 08:02

Hi everyone, thank you for thinking of us all. As you can imagine we are all still devastated. It took us a while to remove his litter trays he didn't loose and we still keep finding toys. Dexter still comes in yo have a look round but has become very friendly with us. He had a visit around tea time a few Dreamies then goes and climbs the tree.

OH wants another cat straight away and I'm not too adverse, when it all happened I was never having another cat again. Three cats ( Mum and two sisters) came up on our local rescue and OH nearly went and got them, though we need to wait till after the holiday.

My phone is playing up and I keep being sent back to August on the thread but it was interesting to see Colins life unfold. He was such a happy daring chippy

Yesterday was one of the first times I've looked at The Litter Tray and the news on Pancytapenia is horrific correct. Col was on Applaws and I am now wondering if it affected him

Much love to you all and your kitty's

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 16/06/2021 08:22

Hi @Oldraver.
Pleased to see you back and just to reiterate how sorry I am about Col.
Seeing the updates yesterday, and remembering your sad news I wondered the same about Pancytopenia too.

If you're up to it you could ask your vet to refer to the RVC website and fill in their survey if they think it's appropriate.
