Is that Karl or Lenny?. Beautiful eyes.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/10/2020 15:22

It's Basil Grin.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/10/2020 15:29

Ah hes a beauty.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 24/10/2020 15:59

Thank you - I think he's a very handsome chap too Grin

New Dcat is trying to sneak out of his prison room but we've got him a scratching post (very much appreciated) and he's let both DCs stroke him, and bitten me for not stroking him enough, I let him know that's not how we do things here. Old Dcat was a mild biter too in play so we aren't that bothered by it. He's a cat.
Oh and I had to evict him from behind my monitor during a work video chat. I'm sure the other person thought I was mad!

TheLongRider · 25/10/2020 12:22

It's great that he sounds like a confident cat. I'd probably let him choose to explore the house sooner. One of mine strutted around the house within about 90 minutes of getting home.

Fires lit and it’s sunny.

We are trying to keep him accessible for the carrier so he can go for a check up on Tues, after that the world, well, indoors for the moment, is his oyster.

@Bargebill19

Never thought about it before, but think I've just worked out your username Grin.

Do the cats go outside when you are out and about?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/10/2020 09:52

We made the mistake of leaving some shopping bags on the hall. For the last week Sybil and the shopping bags have been inseparable.

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

Yes, we do allow them out, but only on harness and leads. It’s too easy for them to get lost, or wander on to the wrong boat. If they fall in, it is impossible for them to get out due to the straight sides of the canals. Fenders and tyres can be used by cats to scramble to safety- but you can’t really cover the entire boat in them! Trying to fish a wet cat out of the canal is very difficult and they hold a HUGE amount of water!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 26/10/2020 11:12

Ours are generally very good at avoiding going in the river - but one if my previous cats did deliberately go in once to catch a moorhen Shock. He was obviously a good swimmer, when he came back in he was soaking wet underneath and bone dry on top.

Bargebill19 · 26/10/2020 11:34

Cats can swim.... although what my current pride of cats would make of it, I have no idea. They can’t stand even being out in drizzle let alone full rain!

Woolly17 · 26/10/2020 11:39

Guardian of the coffee.

Gorgeous grey cat in a box - what could be better Grin

drspouse · 29/10/2020 15:57

Sneaking round the house when we aren't looking and popping up all over the place!

Oldraver · 31/10/2020 11:04

I phoned the vet about having Colin neutured and was told someone would phone me and do a 'Covid assessment'. His vet have only just started allowing you into the surgery, so likely with the threat of a lockdown it wont happen yet.

I am surprised how much more careful they are say compared to shops. A vet surgery is much more set up to being able to sanitise than shops. Though after speaking to the vet owner, he is very Covid averse

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 31/10/2020 12:02

For no very good reason I've been putting car parts onto a sleeping Basil this morning.
He didn't seem to mind (or even wake up)

Is that the cat version of buckaroo?

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 31/10/2020 12:19

@Bargebill19
It might have been if Basil had bothered to wake up Grin.
