First time kitten owner & I am shocked!

At how easy her transition has been! We have had her 3 days now, she hasn't had one single accident - as a dog owner this really shocked me, she just goes in her litter tray and that's it, no training, no puppy pads, no standing in the yard coaching it to go and then cheering when it does lol. She just knows where she goes and that's it!

She is eating great, loves cuddles, loves our dog and is just such a playful little ball of fur. She is so calm and docile (I was expecting her to be hissing at us and climbing up curtains - although it's still early days) ahhh I just love her

I've always been a dog person but this little kitten has just brought me so much joy and I just cant believe how easy she has been so far! I woke up today and was instantly in a good mood just knowing I get to snuggle the little cutesy all day Grin I think I've been converted to a complete cat lover!

It is cute if it's not your own leg. Grin

TwentyViginti · 11/06/2020 10:37

You are obviously excelling in your new role of Cat Staff OP Grin

Gingerkittykat · 11/06/2020 10:41

She is beautiful, she might not have run up the curtains yet but she will still get up to mischief but will be instantly forgiven because of her cuteness!

sashh · 11/06/2020 10:43

So cute.

And you may yet have curtain climbing.

Have you tried catnip yet?

wowfudge · 11/06/2020 10:46

She's absolutely beautiful. DP used to say our cat hated him and loved me, but after both being at home with her during lockdown they've really bonded - he normally works away a lot. Cats can be so adorable.

DareDevil223 · 11/06/2020 10:49

She's so beautiful - those toe beans! Welcome to the world of being a cat slave. My own beloved floofer who is 10 this year has brought me nothing but love and joy.

ShipshapeShore · 11/06/2020 10:53

I remember when we got our kittens we'd spend ages just watching them be cute and play - one day I nearly forgot to cook dinner! They're old boys now and it's starting to show. Sad

One of them did silent miaows for ages, then one day he wandered into the kitchen and did a very long, very loud miaow and he's not shut up since! He always waits for me in the garden when I do the school run and gives the most lovely noisy welcome.

Allergictoironing · 11/06/2020 11:18

Boycat has a lovely loud comforting rumbling purr, but his sister's is silent. However you do feel the vibrations in her throat if you stroke there. She may be smaller than him, but she's still 4.5kg.

Neither of them has a loud meow, in fact took them over 2 years before they found any voices at all.

Dollywilde · 11/06/2020 11:21

Oh what a cutie!!! Watch out for your curtains though.

I think the ease of a kitten may have lulled DH into a false sense of security - I’m due our first baby in 9 weeks and the other day he said ‘well we managed to deal with Percy as a tiny kitten, so...’. Pretty sure he’s in for a rude awakening Grin

ClientQ · 11/06/2020 11:40

My cat never shuts up, he's either chatting at me or shouting and he purrs non stop, he's only 3.4kg

Holeywalls · 11/06/2020 11:44

Oh she’s lovely! We were also amazed at how easy it was.

Lorddenning1 · 11/06/2020 11:50

Aw look at her little toe beans, so adorable 🐈
Sorry to hijack your thread but we are getting a cat next year after we complete some building work, we have only ever had boy cats, what's the different in temperament between the 2 sexes, we currently have 2 female dogs who are 11 and love cats.

Imcrapwithusernames · 11/06/2020 11:57

Thank you everyone! I havent tried catnip but I definitely will! I've just spent a ridiculous amount of money on amazon Blush cat trees/scratching posts/toys, I feel like shes a baby who must be spoilt Grin what am I doing 😂

Is she a moggy or a posh breed? Sorry for my ignorance...

thecatneuterer · 11/06/2020 12:06

I also came on to say just wait till she starts shredding your curtains, but I see I've been beaten to it :)

MitziK · 11/06/2020 12:06

She's very small. and adorable as they all are

Curtain scaling usually occurs around the 9 week mark, legs slightly before, as they have to train themselves for the effort. I'd recommend providing clear space under and around the sofa to facilitate high speed arm strengthening exercises...

And always wear trousers around mealtimes.

Imcrapwithusernames · 11/06/2020 12:16

Shes just a regular house cat however her back is like a little leopard with spots all down it then stripes down her head, my friend thought she was a fancy breed.

Shes very very tiny I actually thought another cat in the house was my kitten but the owner explained it was my kittens sibling, a 3 year old cat from the previous litter it was tiny! Then when she handed me my kitten I almost died, she is like one of those tiny monkeys at the zoo with the tiny faces, the mum cat was also very small she said they were just small cats. If I hadn't been in contact with the lady who breed them from the beginning I would have swore the kitten was not 9 weeks old.

The slight downside to the kitten being tiny is I'm so afraid of losing her! However as soon as you put her food out she appears within seconds!

Gorgeous!!
I have had a life long love affair with cats and dogs. - but cats simply rule the home and currently my heart.

wheresmymojo · 11/06/2020 12:32

She is beautiful!!!

Kittens melt my heart 💓

I think it's so clever how the Mother cat teaches all of her little ones to use the litter tray!

I fostered a cat that had kittens and she taught all 6 of them with absolutely zero accidents but despite being in with them a lot we never saw her showing them what to do!

ManualFlusherSnot · 11/06/2020 12:35

She’s gorgeous 😍 cats are the best.

Bloops · 11/06/2020 12:39

Beautiful kitty! I was a first time cat owner a couple of years ago and I felt just like you. Couldn't believe how easy it was! I think she had 2 accidents where she kicked poop out her litter tray and that was that. Had a few scratches from her when she was a kitten. If she gets spooked out she might hiss but that's about it.
Enjoy your bundle of fluff!

EngagedAgain · 11/06/2020 12:40

Cats ARE the DB's! she's gorgeous. Jealous much... 😏

😱😱😱

3.4kg??? For some reason I always thought Ollie was a big chap!

AConvivialHost · 11/06/2020 13:00

She's lulling you into a false sense of security. IME, climbing up the curtains comes in week 2 of ownership Smile - you know, once they've got their feet under the table.

StCharlotte · 11/06/2020 13:05

Welcome Belle (very well named).

Our two are seven months now. I put up our old curtains (which I hate) the day we got them. I also have new nets ready to go up (as they've shredded the old ones) but first sign of a fly and they're straight up there so I'll have to wait.

Our two came litter trained and Dreamies trained (useful for getting them down from the roof and chimney pot where they were investigating a jackdaw nest). They also taught themselves how to use the catflap. He is very noble and quiet - apart from a very loud purr - she is very chatty indeed. I've been wfh and they've been thoroughly entertaining.
