Bloody cats

Heard a scuffle late last night but couldn't see anything when I went out.
Karl didn't appear then or this morning so I've been out looking for him since about 10.00. He finally turned up 30 minutes ago - clearly injured (hissed when picked up) but difficult to see where - possibly his tail. He is now hiding in the house to sleep it off. Trip to the vet tomorrow if he's not improved.
And I can't even blame TC - he was apparently in last night.

Probably attacked by some feral monster. Poor Karl. Hope he’s just a bit bruised and feeling better by teatime. Poor kittie. 🐱

Snorg spotted an intruder in the garden this morning, I've never seen her move so fast.(didn't know she could!) she eventually came back looking very disheveled and covered in half the garden with one eye slightly closed. Not got a proper look at her yet. But she laid down under the bed and groomed her self. So I'm presuming she's ok.

Oh poor Karl! I hope he is OK. Maybe it was the black and white cat?

And Snorg! I’m actually not sure I believe that story!

Thanks for the messages to Karl. He's definitely on lockdown for the next 24 hours - I'll update his condition tomorrow.

To confirm, the label 'bloody cat' referred to Karl for getting us worried.
We've no idea by whom he was attacked - not even sure it was a cat.

Wonder where he was hiding out? Let us know how he is. They're such a worry.

@Toddlerteaplease If Snorg carries on like this she’ll be a fully paid up cat.

Poor Karl. Could be a back paw too, they use them in fights and get bitten.

@fluffy she's currently tucked up in her basket and did not take kindly to being extracted to have her eyes checked.

My old boy used to get very traumatised after a scrap and would retreat into himself. It'd take him a few days to recover.

Quick Karl update.

He had perked up a bit, but yesterday became very subdued so we got an emergency vet appointment this morning. (Why did he gave to do this near a bank holiday weekend?)

The vet found a very large abscess on his tail and drained it. Karl is obviously feeling much better for it - but is now very fed up being restricted to one room, having a poodle cut on his tail & having to wear a cone of shame.

Back to our usual vet tomorrow morning to check if it needs to be stitched.

NDN thinks it may have been a mink - one of his chickens was killed the same night but not in a typical fox attack

Poor Karl. Mink are viscous buggers.

At least the others can’t see his tail yet. BH are THE perfect time for a cat to see the vet. Every cat knows this.

Cats and emergency BH vet visits go hand in hand. Our old girl had cystitis on an Easter Sunday. Fine the day before when our vet was open.

I did (you have a good memory), and yes it was a mink. It was about 5 miles upstream of us at a lock. (Link to the thread below) I also found a dead mink on our road once as well - so they are around.

Pleased to report that Karl is much happier now. He's restricted to one room so I've come up to see him. He's had a massive quantity of Dreamies and now he's curled up on my lap purring his head off
and covering my trousers with leakage from his abscess

Sent photos of Karl's wound to our vet this morning (as requested by the emergency cover vet).
This has resulted in Karl going to the vet again today to have his wound (four bites apparently) further cleaned and stitched under anaesthetic. £820 down so far When the little bugger is better I'm sending him out to work!
The vet nurse said (repeatedly) how lovely and friendly he was - so he bloody should be considering the amount we've spent on him .

Ouch. That’s a big bill. Do they think it’s a mink bite too?.
