Why does anyone buy a dedicated cat bed?

I have 2 cat beds for our cat, one upstairs and one downstairs, she absolutely loves them both. She rarely sleeps on our beds unless one of the kids, or DH, has left their towel on one of the beds then she will lie on the towel. She’s a bit strange!

He’s got a bit of a thing about newspapers! I think he might have been put on one as a kitten. I think he had a traumatic early life but we found him when he was about one year old and he’s treated like a prince

Yes! Where is the inimitable TC!

Despite reports to the contrary - TC is not allowed in our house and even when he has broken in he has never, as far as I know, made it onto our bed.
If he ever does, a photograph will definitely be forthcoming.

Karl has now come in (don't know if he'll be joining the others).
Only one slight issue, the Karl that came in is actually Lenny. I really must learn to tell them apart when they are asleep .

They were shunned here too, gave them away to a rescue place ( beds not cats obviously!!) Why would they choose a ‘cat’ bed when they’re clearly humans & have king size beds, sofas etc🤷🏻‍♀️

If we got a new car I’d get it a new bed & donate it to a rescue again if it didn’t use it. I like giving them the option of turning their noses up 🙄🤣

I have bought loads of beds for my cat but the only one he will go in- and he's there a lot- is the cat radiator bed! All warm and cosy in there 😻

The bastard cat used to sleep in his sometimes, mainly when he wanted to hide from the children. Then we moved house a couple of years ago and he's never been in it since.

This is ours on her bed on my desk. But she only uses it in winter, but then she'll stay in it all day, keeping me company pressuring me for strokes and brushing when I'm working from home.

I used to buy ours covered dog beds, he loved them.

Geoffrey, do those hook over radiator? What stops cat from burning himself against radiator?

@BovaryX yes it's one like this picture that hooks over the radiator. Cat never seems to get too hot, I'm assuming he'd get out if he was!

Over the years I have bought 4 different cat beds to encourage them to sleep in thier own bed.
Every one of the beds is now at the cat and dog shelter.
