Why does anyone buy a dedicated cat bed?

Clearly our cats can't see the point of one.

(Don't know where Karl is - probably outside mousing)

I said to dh I was going to bin the bed as it had fallen out of favour, after that he started using it again. We used to slip a hot water bottle under the bed every morning if I was working.

This is a covered dog bed.

Poor TC relegated to a filing box when there is plenty of room on the covered bed notice how one eye is open?

Mine isn't allowed upstairs, or on the sofa unlessDHisout unfortunately so has three cat beds, an armchair and a cat tree. Uses them all.

HurricaneWitch · 24/11/2019 11:55

I'm loving all these photos! Our dog usually steals all the cat beds, and the cats take over the sofa or any cardboard box they can find.

Pascha · 24/11/2019 12:02

Both mine have historically opted for clean washing over dedicated cat beds.

Sev likes the paper recycling basket of his favourite human.
He also likes her bed.
And of course - boxes.

I love the radiator hammocks but suspect neither of my cats would be able to get into one!

Theonewiththecat · 24/11/2019 13:13

Dcat has a moses basket, it came with him from his previous house, and we had the intention of using it while he settled in and then getting rid of it.
He doesnt use it for ages- we have the discussion about getting rid and boom hes back in it.
So here is a pic of him in his moses basket and also where he sleeps the rest of the time.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 24/11/2019 13:18

Mine loves his tall cat tree.

june2007 · 24/11/2019 13:24

Yep mine doesn,t use hers either.

LadyFlumpalot · 24/11/2019 13:37

Nope, we have a huge cat tree with numerous sleeping points, a huge squishy cat bed and several lovely thick blankets.

DCat sleeps like this...

I think we bought ones for the "larger" than average cat.

Arthur is 5 kgs and 2.5 ft long....... he has, however, bent the frame on one of his hammocks, and we had to gaffer tape the junctions Blush.

Fluffycloudland77 · 24/11/2019 15:03

Our 6.8kg boy had a standard sized one, he used one in the cattery and loved it so I bought him one.

You can get fake fur ones now.

I might try one. My worry is that they won’t be agile enough to get into it 😂 they’re clumsy and slightly arthritic chonks.

We never bothered with a cat bed for this reason.
