We have literally been through hundreds of names and we just can't agree. Any name suggested either 2 or 3 people veto (and there are only 4 of us in the family). I like old fashioned names, and those ending in y / ie, or a. We all like books & movies, but have very different tastes. They are 1 boy (grey and white), and 1 girl (black and white). Also, nothing too matchy matchy, needs to work as a stand alone name. Help, because at this rate it will be boy cat-y and girl cat-y.

Will post a pic, but it might take me a while!

Ben & Betsy

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 24/09/2018 00:09

Lottie (Charlotte) and George?

But oh my goodness, OP, you lot are tough to please - you're driving me to drink. I know they'll be rejected too, but here's my final offering:

Gin and Tonic.

They look a cheery little pair, and a G&T certainly cheers me up.

Guiltypleasures001 · 24/09/2018 00:21

Ping and pong 😁

Olinguito · 24/09/2018 02:00

Delilah (Dilly for short) and Leo?

chocoholic1234 · 24/09/2018 13:03

Mini - I can promise it's not me that's tough to please. It's mainly my children (who are like chalk and cheese in every other area of life, so it shouldn't surprise me that they have completely different taste in names). It doesn't help that we are both teachers, so lots of names have particular associations with them (it took 6 days to name the youngest boy).

My computer missed loads of posts, will go back through them and add some more to the list.

Let each child name one kitten.

quarterpast · 24/09/2018 13:31

Dusty (grey one) and Sooty (black one)
Ebb and Flo
Sue and Keith

chocoholic1234 · 24/09/2018 13:37

Knock - thought of that, but the youngest would call it Cutie. I'm trying to be all democratic, particularly as I'd be happy with anything out of dozens of names. But we are now on day 4, and I am going to have to resort to 'here are 3 choices, pick one out of a hat'.

Love Dusty and Sooty (vetoed), and Monty and Betsy (also vetoed).

I think they might suit Freddie and Georgia. (After Fred and George, the HP twins).

Gobbolino and Sootica
Tom and Mittens
Edward and Checkers

GiantKitten · 24/09/2018 14:51

Chalky and Cheesy Grin

Dumbledoresgirl · 24/09/2018 14:57

They are similar looking to my grey and white cat who is called Merlin. Would an Arthurian theme please everyone?

Or go with my son's rejected name for Merlin (but he still uses it): KitKat. You could have KitKat for the boy and Catkin for the girl.

chocoholic1234 · 24/09/2018 19:35

Just looking back through the list, I love Maggie and Willow. Adding to the list. Since Freddie and Georgia have been vetoed, we are back to square 1. I think human names are looking less likely, too many associations (Apart from the more unusual ones like Lyra, although we all hate 'Unique' names). It is getting a little silly now, but then they've had 10 weeks without a name, maybe we can give it another day or so!

Slinki & Scarface
Bonnie & Clyde
Oprah & Harpo (same word reversed).

Ioki · 24/09/2018 20:55

Luke and Leia - Ethel and Alfred - Molly and Jasper - Pearl and Onyx - Steve and Peggy - Odin and Frigga - Meg and Mog - Pebble and Pearl - Cosmo and Wanda - Jessie and James - Rocket and Orbit - Stella and Lunar - Nova and Spark - Romeo and Juliet - Flame and Storm - Cyrus and Ebony

TheLongRider · 25/09/2018 08:01

Sprocket and Cog - Star and Comet - Cosima and Damien - Damson and Plum - Puck and Faun

chocoholic1234 · 25/09/2018 15:36

Fab names (I also wanted Loki, but it was vetoed as he's a baddy apparently).

My choices:
For the boy - Jasper, Monty, Eddie / Freddie, Milo, Ash / Asher, Pixel, Gatsby or Atticus.
For the girl - Dixie, Lyra, Betsy, Titania (Tatty), Luna, Dusty, Layla, Harper or Scout.
You would think that would be enough of a choice right? But all of them have been vetoed by at least 2 out of the 3 other family members.

If I like those, what else might I like?

Mungo and Antigone (tiggy for short)?

quarterpast · 25/09/2018 16:04

Zephyr, Fidget, Gizmo, Tinker, Twinkle, Sparky

quarterpast · 25/09/2018 16:08

And for my last offering, I like animal names so Bear and Bunny, and also Domino for anyone with black and white furGrin

Icklepup · 25/09/2018 16:11

River
Wren

Dino
Leo

MiniLeopardInTheHouse · 25/09/2018 16:42

You realise this is getting ridiculous now, OP, right?! You lot have had and rejected more suggestions than on the baby names thread! I did think about Popcorn for one because you said you all like films, but didn't get around to thinking of a second name. As you're a chocoholic, (woman after my own heart), how about your favourite chocolate bar names - Whisper, Crunchie, Kitkat, Aero, Smartie, whatever?! My only other suggestion now would be:

Mumsnet and Veto!!!

I'd love to be your neighbour, hearing you shouting 'Titianaaaaa' across the gardens and fields!!!

It's like waiting for the smoke to come out of the chimney when they're naming a new pope!!!

Eat some chocolate and get on with it. Simple.

chocoholic1234 · 25/09/2018 16:57

I know, Veto and cat are looking increasingly likely, mainly because those are the words they are most used to hearing!

They have driven me slightly bonkers today (in a good way). I sit down to play with them - not interested, they only want to play with each other. I put the washing on the clothes airer - they use it as a climbing Frame or sit in the basket. I try to get on with my assignment, they sit on the laptop keys. I try to write in pencil, well that's the best toy ever!

Albert and Adelaide

MintyJones · 25/09/2018 17:14

Good god OP - do you have kids? How did you make to name them or did it take you a couple of years? GrinThey're kittens - just give them a couple of cute names.

chocoholic1234 · 25/09/2018 17:31

The kids are the issue, they are the ones that keep vetoing all the names. (I won't mention that it took 6 days to name the youngest boy, although for most of that I was too knackered to remember my own name).

Loving Albert and Adelaide.
