Thinking ooo, he likes enclosed spaces, he hasn't got a bed that's 'his', he'll love that.
As you can see, he does not.

Before I give up entirely and take it back, any ideas on how I can get him to use it? Tried a piece of my clothing, his toys, gently putting him in.

If not il take it back tomorrow 😁 It's been a week

Put food in it.

CredulousThickos · 11/10/2017 14:54

Shoo him away from it every time he goes near.

IhaveChillyToes · 11/10/2017 14:54

Yes agree put the food in there Smile

Parmaviolets13 · 11/10/2017 14:56

Ooo haven't tried food yet. If I put his toy in there, he goes in, picks it up and comes back out!

Shooing him away sounds interesting though, he does always want to explore where he's not allowed

He’ll probably use it soon... just perhaps not in the way you intended.

My cat wouldn't ever use his igloo either. We recently got him a large floor cushion type bed instead, he wasn't interested in that either preferring to lie in the washing pile. So DS went and laid on it a few times and left his top on it for a bit and now the cat is never off the thing (DS is cat's favourite person in the world).

I had that same one in purple! My boy is too big to fit in it now so I bought him a dogbed which he loves

YetAnotherSpartacus · 11/10/2017 14:58

It's the way he's pointedly pointing his bum at it ...

ToffleMoomin · 11/10/2017 15:00

Spray it with catnip spray.

Give him an old shoe box. Both of mine love them. Or a computer chair!

Toddlerteaplease · 11/10/2017 15:02

I’ve spent £35 on this. Put Fatty’s towel In it in the hope they’ll use it! To be fair they have 4 other beds between them
And they do use them all.

Spartacus Grin
Il give him until the weekend and if no improvement il take it back, god knows what il say but £22 is a lot of money to waste!
He is currently snoozing on the bed, old habits die hard.

Ps. I had a wicker carrying basket that I bought that they wouldn’t use until I put it behind a chair until I got round to throwing it out and suddenly it was the best thing ever. Maybe he doesn’t like he position it’s in!

Parmaviolets13 · 11/10/2017 15:04

Hmm did try and attach a picture it obviously didn't work!

We went away once leaving teenage DS in charge of the house and pets. On the last day, we had a frantic text saying 'I can't find [cat] anywhere, looked all over, not in beds, airing cupboard, washbasket...'

Came home and found her in her cat basket, clearly thinking 'Ha! They'll never look here!'

Briette · 11/10/2017 15:45

Well if it's competing with a human bed, it's always going to lose!

Mine likes that kind of bed if you face the opening towards a wall or corner to make it feel more secretive. Though she likes the delivery boxes even more.

Allergictoironing · 11/10/2017 15:53

Took mine 6 months to go anywhere near their igloo - obviously there were snakes or monsters hiding in there ready to eat unwary little kitties. Then suddenly Girlcat would be in there most of the day. 2-3 months later Boycat decided it was nice too, and I've seen them actually fight over it. Then it went out of fashion come late spring, though both have been sniffing it over the last few days...

MickeyLuv · 11/10/2017 16:00

Mine's got one of those, he never goes in it when anyone is at home but when we are at work all day... I can see him on the catcam security camera, he spends the whole day in it!

Take it back! I had that exact same one when mine was a kitten. He never once got inside it. Turns out he's just not one for getting into enclosed spaces - he's much happier with a cushion on the floor.
