Another stray kitten!!!

I've also had a stray/lost kitten turn up on my door step this morning. I've posted on Facebook, knocked round the neighbours and no one can shed any light.

I managed to get her in the car carrier to pop to the vet who thinks she's about 7 weeks old. No chip but in reasonable condition though hissing a lot.

I'm reluctant to call Cats Protection because I think she has a safe and happy place for now (though I'm not sure it could be permanent - Dennis loves the fuss of an only cat) and I would hate for her to go in a cattery.

Any advice is welcome.

Her name is Mildred

Keep.

BigcatLittlecat · 03/06/2017 12:50

Congratulations on your new kitten! Mildred is a fab name, she is very beautiful.

NickMyLipple · 03/06/2017 13:30

I really don't think I can keep her!

I'm working every day next week from tomorrow and just haven't got time to introduce them gently and ensure that there isn't a murder.

I put kitten milk out for her and Dennis drank it. This isn't going to go well.

You name it you own it. Either mum cats turfed her out early or she's been dumped.

PrancerForHoney · 03/06/2017 14:32

Post her to me!

SisterhoodisPowerful · 03/06/2017 14:36

Separate rooms for a few weeks with feliway everywhere! Mildred will win Dennis over in no time.

YetAnotherSpartacus · 03/06/2017 14:42

Does Dennis also answer to George?

mydogmymate · 03/06/2017 14:43

I introduced a kitten to my 11year old cat last year & even though they don't kill each other the older boy is definitely in charge! He can be a miserable sod but as long as the kitten doesnt nick his food or favourite sleeping places, all is good. He even deigns to play with her sometimes!
They'll be fine together, let the kitten stay in the cat carrier as little no as it wants & leave the door open. That way, it has somewhere to bolt to if necessary and feed it in there for a few days. It'll all be ok

mydogmymate · 03/06/2017 14:44

*As long as it wants

SnickersWasAHorse · 03/06/2017 14:47

Can you put her in a separate room during the day while you are at work? Litter tray, food, water etc.

CappuccinoSprinkles · 03/06/2017 14:47

Why do kittens never turn up on my doorstep?

CappuccinoSprinkles · 03/06/2017 14:48

Also, congratulations on your new kitten. Because look at the cuteness, there's no way you can resist!

NickMyLipple · 03/06/2017 15:55

She's a poser!

DP has so far said "come on now..."

He hasn't met her yet. It might be all change!

I've put her in the spare room with water, food and a bed. She's very scared. I hope someone misses her :(

Mildred is adorable. She'll settle just fine.

DP has so far said "come on now..." Grin. Did he sigh when he said it, like my DP did when I brought Frankie home? He'll crack when he sees her.

NickMyLipple · 03/06/2017 17:25

@hemanorshera it was via text, but I can imagine there was a sigh. Mildred and I are becoming a bit too close for comfort, and she's eating which I'm thrilled about. I've shown her the litter tray but not sure she's got any idea what it is or does. Hopefully she'll figure it out. I've given her about 1/6 of a pouch of wet kitte food - is that enough right now being as though it's day 1 of many with me??

Oh I'm so out of my depth 😹

I've just realised she has chewing gum ingrained in her fur on her back leg - how the hell will I get that off?!

OP posts:
SnickersWasAHorse · 03/06/2017 18:10

Put her in the freezer?

-don't, obviously--

NickMyLipple · 03/06/2017 18:14

😂😂

I think it's fair to say I won't.

This is terrible.

I'm a bit in love.

You are doing fine. Don't panic. If she's eaten she feels safe Smile. Is she in one room? Don't put the Litter tray close to her food bowl and keep putting her in the tray and scratching the Litter around to show her what to do. Give her food little and often. Keep an eye on her after she's eaten - she may show signs of wanting a wee/poo.

I'd the leave gum. I guess it's been there for a while so won't hurt for a bit longer.

JeffStellingsLeftEyebrow · 03/06/2017 18:16

Her eyes are beautiful! No point pretending she's not staying Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 03/06/2017 18:16

Oh lordy - those eyes. She is gorgeous Smile.

NickMyLipple · 03/06/2017 18:20

I thought she was black initially but she's brown with tiger stripes - very pretty markings.

OP posts:
SnickersWasAHorse · 03/06/2017 18:22

I doesn't cost much more to run two cats.

You can't send her away. Look at that face. Could you send that little scrap off to fend for herself in the big wide world?

SnickersWasAHorse · 03/06/2017 18:24

She looks like my girl. Black at a glance but really dark brown with darker brown stripes.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/06/2017 19:26

She's gorgeous. You know that she's staying if no one comes forward for her!
