Having survived two whole days without a cat (so quiet, so tidy) I've just had a text to ask if I can take a 2 year old FIV positive boy. You bet I can!!! I wonder if this will stop being so exciting? I doubt I will have him long, young indoor only cats are like gold dust round here.

Sunday morning! We're doing a handover in a park and ride carpark, like some sort of drug deal. I get my fix of cat!

We collected PuffinCat at 10pm on a Monday night Grin. Have also been known to persuade security to let me into a car park to trap a stray in a distinctly dodgy part of a major city. I think it's great you're rescuing!

This boy has been a stray, he was caught for neuter and release but found to be FIV positive, so he can't go back on to the street. He's been in a pen but seems suitable for rehabilitation. Much the same story as our first foster who turned into a lovely pet.

I'm ignoring all your comments about failed fostering Smile I haven't, so far, had any qualms about handing them over and moving on. As long as they keep coming we're hugely enjoying it at the moment.

Well....you're doing better than us. First foster cat turned out to be pregnant. So our cat family grew by two kittens Blush

Don't know if I can be trusted to foster more!

One factor that helps with not becoming a failed fosterer is that CP have already said they would not approve us for an outdoor cat because of the road we live on. The fact that we have open fields on two sides and have had cats for 18 years here without losing one on the road makes no difference. I don't think we'd go for an indoor only cat.
Most of the other fosterers have acquired at least one permanent cat though. Smile

Have they snap tested for FIV or full bloods? Just a pondering Wink
CP in my area have changed it since Ollie was found clear, if a cat tests positive they will have full bloods done to confirm it as Ollie was homed to me as FIV+. And isn't Grin

enjoy your new foster i foster for yorkshire cat rescue and have a mom and four 5 week old kittens coming on sunday cant wait been too quiet her since my crimbo feral boy kit went back to the centre last month, i lookj at fostering as A they are not my kittens they belong to the centre, b they are on holiday at my house for a while, C they dont stay kittens for long, D i will give them all the love and care in the world but someone else will get the lifetime vets bills, food bills, litter tray changing , i have donme this for 5 years now and still havent failed as a fosterer but working at the centre i have become a failed volunteer twice , some of my kittens hopefully photos will load

Hollin from my CP training session I remember them saying if the quick test shows as positive they do the full one for accuracy so hopefully it will be used nationwide. That said the FIV cats there are homed quickly.

Big disappointment. When the volunteer went to pick him up this morning he was just too wild. He had been attacking the lady who was looking after him in a pen all week and it seems unlikely he could be rehomed at the moment. Probably he is feral rather than a stray who has ever had a home.

He can't be an outdoor cat because he is FIV positive. It isn't looking good for him unless he calms down. He hasn't come in to CP care (another rescue picked him up then couldn't release him). I'm not sure what will happen to him...

On the bright side I will probably be picking up another cat on Wednesday.
