Meet Edgar

I just felt like sharing. Admittedly he's not the prettiest of cats.

I picked him up in the street just round the corner from me two days ago. He was unneutered, starving, filthy, flea-ridden and with a mouth full of broken and rotten teeth.

He hasn't stopped eating since I took him in, despite obviously being in pain from his mouth, and has already put on a lot of weight. He is even quite a bit cleaner, again despite the problem with his mouth.

The plan is to get him neutered and to have a dental as soon as possible. Then, as I expect no one will be falling over themselves to adopt him, he will end up joining my gang. What's one more after all?

(the dirty pink stain on the sheet in the first photo was as a result of me flea combing him with a damp comb. The water in the bowl turned a very dirty, dark red).

I imagine he became stray, as most unneutered males do, because he left home to chase a female and couldn't find his way home. That was obviously a long time ago though.

What a lovely pair Edgar and the little kitten make. It would be good to find them a home together.

Poor wee lass. I guess she'd just have faded away if it hadn't been for Edgar. And you of course. Smile

TCN Edgar loves you and Little Sick Kitten and this is his home now. In case you hadn't noticed. :)

He is a cat of Churchillian nobility, and he has met his person in you, no slouch in the fine person stakes either.

Edgar is helping you with the other cats, he is a partner in every sense of the word, not a pet or a lodger. He is working as hard as he can to help the house and the other cats (in his own way). Please let him stay.

I bloody love Edgar. That's all I can say. And the before and after photographs speak for themselves. Now he's all plump and sleek, he reminds me a lot of my own beloved MCat.

And like Lana says, he's made himself indispensable as Head of Comforting Sickly Kittens.

I am hoping TCN will find a place in her life and her bed for her own Edgar to stay. I have been thinking about him all day, as it happens.

I couldn't bear his fat loving heart to be hurt again. Please, TCN. He is so beautiful and he is trying so hard. And you need all the help you can get. And you will have a head-sleeper every night. Bliss.

Thanks M I sense you are on side and more tactful than me :)

Another quick update. Edgar went out of the cat flap for the first time about two weeks ago and didn't come home. I had put a Loc8tor device on his collar but, despite extensive walking of the streets, couldn't pick up a signal anywhere.

Today I tried walking a little further than I had before and got a signal. I tracked him down to a front garden where he was sitting under a tree. He seemed ok. A bit thinner but fine. So now he is back home and seems very happy to be back and is sleeping and purring a lot.

He hasn't yet said hello to Little Sick Kitten, who is still little and probably sick, but happy enough.

And yes, I have no intention of trying to rehome Edgar as there just aren't enough homes so I know it would be very difficult, and there is no room at all for him in our shelter. So I will hopefully continue to be able to give updates on him for years to come :)

Best news of the year!!!!!! How completely brilliant you are TCN.

I am so delighted about Edgar having a home. I didn't want to ask in case it looked like stalking when you so busy, but three massive cheers from me and Mr C. He was trying so hard to be accepted. He just wanted to be loved.

Edgar is an exceptional person and may you, LSK and he all have the most blissful reunion with plenty of gin and dreamies.
