I love my cat so much it hurts. Is this normal?

Just that really. This silly little floofball has utterly stolen my heart...(to the extent that DP sometimes looks at me with an expression of amusement and Hmm)

Here she is striking her "I'm dead scary, me" pose Grin

My old boy - HarleyBog. Loved him so much, so utterly, it still hurts that he's not here any more.

And Leroy - had him since June. Completely nuts, but so floofy and adorable, and mending my broken heart Smile.

Not only is loving them so much it hurts normal - it is expected.

I love Leroy! Harley-Bog was a real cutie too.

Definitely ok to love them so much it hurts. My darling rescue tortie & White DLH is still missing and very much missed.
I adore every little thing about her and she has made a tremendous positive contribution to my life. I worship the ground she walks on & cannot bear to be apart from her.
So no, you're not wrong to love them so much. It's all they deserve really Smile

FuzzyWizard · 12/09/2016 17:03

Botanic- I'm sorry Flowers. Hope you get her back safely.

notagiraffe · 12/09/2016 17:04

Same here. DH often complains that I fuss over the cat far more than him. DS2 adores him and it's mutual. They cuddle for about an hour every night when DS gets home from school. It's very cute.

One of the first things we do....???

allsfairinlove · 19/09/2016 03:27

I guess I'm just scared of the day she won't be here anymore and was wondering if loving a pet so much was normal.
Sorry to be morbid. I lost someone I loved dearly recently and have been thinking about it a lot Sad
And you can probably tell I'm new to this whole being owned by a cat thing...

allsfairinlove - so sorry for your loss. I could have written the rest of your post myself. I don't have any words of wisdom, and I don't know if it's normal, but I wanted you to know that you're not alone.

allsfairinlove · 19/09/2016 04:53

Thank you sundress that's really kind of you to post, means a lot.

I remember reading an article that put forward a theory that cats carry a virus that has a subtle effect on the human brain so we cannot help but find our kitties adorable. This type of behaviour modification is not unknown in nature.

RubbishMantra · 19/09/2016 13:27

allsfair, I love the 'dont' shoot!' pose. She's adorable, as are all the other cat pics. What breed is she? She looks kind of Havana-ish to me.

I fell in love with Little M from a photograph, and when we got him home he looked so tiny, almost like a baby bird. Semi hairless breed and had gone through his kitten moult, so just a covering of peach-fuzz all over. I remember looking at him and feeling terrified anything might ever hurt him, along with a huge rush of love.

Here he is in his (almost) baldy stage. Apart from the curly leg warmers and mohican along his back.

I love mine soooo much, she's my other baby

LanaorAna1 · 19/09/2016 14:13

Mr C, as I often tell him, is my furry beating heart. In return, he tolerates me.

Raunchy pose there Mr. C! Sort of reminds me of the Playgirl centrefold of the rapper Big Daddy Cane.

bigkidsdidit · 19/09/2016 14:41

I feel like that too Smile

Chinks123 · 19/09/2016 14:51

Fuzzy I'm in love with your cat!

He's waving a diamond knuckleduster-ed paw atcha. Warm it up Kane...

rhiaaaaaaaannon · 19/09/2016 15:45

Normal Smile
My old boy is so scratty and annoying but I love him so much, the sort of love where you start crying about how much you love him after a few wines! I thought it would change after having children but it's got stronger.

allsfairinlove · 19/09/2016 15:45

Thank you for posting so many gorgeous photos! Loving the poses Grin

She's a blue Burmese RubbishMantra, given to me by an amazingly generous breeder friend who owns 2 queens. She claims she probably wouldn't have been able to sell her being the runt but we both know the truth and I am forever grateful Smile

allsfairinlove I totally understand. When someone close to you dies it's normal to start thinking about death a lot.
I find I have to be really positive about life and accept that death is inevitable, otherwise it takes over you.

Sorry for your loss. Go easy on yourself Flowers

hollinhurst84 · 19/09/2016 22:48

Normal. I melt when mine does this and curls his paw around my hand

ItchyFoot, they're brilliant photographs! Especially the one with head on pillow, under the duvet. Sometimes Little M sleeps like that.

allsfairinlove · 20/09/2016 06:39

Thank you rhiaaaaaaaannonFlowers

I love all of your babies!

ItchyFoot and RubbishMantra Moomoo sometimes sleeps with her head on the pillow too! I often feel a little whisker tickling my face in the middle of the night Grin

Pretty normal, I think. This guy has only been with us for 2 weeks and let's just say I wouldn't want to call a Sophie's choice situation between him and DH...
