Heard cat shouting so tramped outside in pjs to find it wasn't Ollie but sounded identical! Found black cat and Ollie sat together with black cat shouting. Ollie could get away but didn't
They moved and I got this video, cat near me is not mine despite the near identical noise
Aggression?
I suspect Ollie has residual "stuff" as neutered v late. But despite the noise they were quite happily sat together and it's identical to Ollie's calling noise

That's not super-aggressive to me. Not happy, but not rage either. More like 'there's a strange cat here and I'm not entirely sure what to do in this situation'. They'll probably get used to each other.

Thanks I was slightly bemused as Ollie wasn't impressed with me dragging him away and strange cat came trotting after him

Ours had a best friend once who would miaow for him to come out. They sound like friends.

The other cat looks huge next to Ollie! He will be wearing thug life tops and gold chains next

It doesn't actually sound that friendly to me. More like a 'There's this big cat there and I don't like this situation.' That would fit with him not being impressed etc etc when you dragged him away - he didn't like the thought of the other cat being left 'in control of the ground'.

Did he do lots of washing when you got him inside?

Nope. It was weird how the big cat calling sounded so much like Ollie
Ollie was silent, the other cat was doing all the calling
He sort of trotted across the road looking back at the other cat and tried to go back to it. Other cat sat outside for a bit, Ollie came in and pawed at the door to go back out

He wanted to resolve 'the situation' most like.

Remind me what you know about his history?

Stray for 4 years, lived with 2 female cats whilst stray
Neutered late. Fed by old lady and lived in her garden (she had them all neutered). She died and the cats were alone and CPL took them in
He's between 5-8. So may have been stray from day 1 or may have had a home
I suspect other cat was a Tom - it was huge and the noise sounding like Ollie fits (with Ollie being neutered late)
I actually went out to get him as I just heard it and thought "bloody cat"
(Oh and he's over grooming his belly again.....)

Hmm. When did the over grooming restart?

There's a Siamese thing - at least mine have all had it - that their territory is anywhere they can actually think of. (Stuff all this line of sight stuff. ) if they know there's another cat around 'somewhere', then they can start to pace and whet their spears mentally, forbye their actual home is safe and clear. (It can make living with them .......interesting. )

Is he pacing at all/looking stressed?

He had a steroid jab 8 weeks ago so he's going for another tonight. We just can't crack it, he does it, it gets sore so he does it more and so on. Always just on his belly or inner back leg
He did come to CPL with a massive flea allergy (as well as being the sneeziest cat they have ever met!)

He does it occasionally. Usually when he first goes outside. Or if he's cross at me he comes up to me and sneezes in my face "sowwy I poorly cat can't help it"

My cat does that noise when he wants me to pick him up/he wants to sit with me. maybe they both want to be buddies but don't know how to make the first move?!

I don't think they're quite happily sitting together - more that neither of them is prepared to give way by moving off. Admittedly the other cat isn't giving a full-on wail and his body language isn't overly aggressive. The wail is the kind of half-arsed shouting Archcat would do when he's hungry and wants immediate grub.

Archcat is a large, late-neutered ex-stray and he won't tolerate any other cat on his turf or anywhere around him. Yesterday he and his arch-enemy Black Fluffy (description rather than cat's name) accidentally came face to face on the front path and sat quite near each other for full 15 minutes wailing horribly at each other, but both were crouched down ready to pounce - it looked very different to your video. Then suddenly Archcat launched himself at Black Fluffy who took off down the road at full pelt, with Archcat chasing after him that's my boy. They seldom actually fight though.

My boy cat makes that noise when another boy cat comes on his patch. That's a 'Go away, this is my area' type noise.

Mine doesn't do much in the way of noise, he goes straight for rolling round the floor with them while biting their necks.

I would interpret that as him asking you to do something about the intruder. He wasn't happy, but I don't think he was massively stressed either.

He thinks you're his mum, basically. But you knew that anyway didn't you!

I wouldn't have minded but it was him being on the other cats turf! He had gone across the road and into a residents over 50s estate. And I had to rescue him in my balloon dog pjs

Played the whole thing again. My beautiful disabled cat stuck her nose on iPad,and is now settling on the other pillow.
