Help please poorly kitten

My 6mth old kitten (Teddy) has been vomiting white frothy liquid since Sat night. Took him to vet yesterday (because I was concerned about the stuff DH had put on the lawn last week) she examined him and did bloods but apart from slightly raised temperature everything was normal. She gave him an injection to help the nausea and he tried to eat a tiny bit of fish last night.
He was sick again last night but nothing since the only thing is he's still not interested in food. He is drinking a little and weeing so that's good but he is sleeping a lot and looking very sorry for himself.
Is there anything I can do/get him to help his tummy and tempt him to eat. Tried steamed fish and chicken and all his favorites but no interest so far.
We (Teddy and me) would be very grateful for any ideas. Thanks Here he is a week or so ago x

How are the boys doing? Any more bats this week?

anoldiebutagoody · 24/09/2016 11:20

No more bats I'm glad to say, Time.
They are both really good, Teddy hasn't had any Metacam for 5 days and is still eating well, on just the antacids☺. Quite cold here today and very windy so after a brief foray outside after breakfast and a bit of a play indoors they are both stretched out asleep on my bed.
Bobby seems to be scratching the top of his head between his ears and causing bumps/scabs, not sure why he's doing it, he doesn't have fleas and isn't scratching anywhere else just his head, he caught his eye with a claw a few days ago and was doing a Nelson impression for a few hours. The only thing I can think of is that he's stuck his head into something that has made it itchy or aggravated the skin (nettles or suchlike) but I can't see anything on it and it's not red/inflamed.
I have to give Lisa an update on Teddy Monday so if he's still doing it I'll mention it to her.

cozietoesie · 24/09/2016 11:52

So it's looking as if he just needs a little assist in things - and on occasion, maybe not all the time?

Let us know how things are on Monday.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 26/09/2016 10:19

Glad to hear Teddy's still doing well, and managing to leave those pesky bats alone! Sorry to hear about Bobby, though. How odd. Hope Lisa manages to get to the bottom of it.

Hope the weather's improved you end. We had a storm on Friday night, and DP had a bath so Tilly's window in the bathroom was shut. So she kept screaming at me to open the door, but then, when I did, she realised she didn't want to go out there. It did, eventually, calm down a bit so she went out and I left the door open (and froze the house!). Went to see if she was in a wee while later and she was just about to come in, but saw me and realised I would shut the door, so forced herself to stay out, even though it was clear she didn't really want to. Silly lass!

Send our best to the boys, and tell Teddy, from me, to keep munching! x

anoldiebutagoody · 28/09/2016 22:41

Still raining here Time, but supposed to improve on Sunday.
Neither of the boys like this weather and sleep more than usual, although they do both go out in the rain, then complain that they are wet when they come back in, Teddy won't stay still to be dried off so I end up chasing him around the house with a towel and Bobby just sits on me and uses ME as a towel !
I get the " open the door and I'll sit just inside so we all freeze " too.
Weighed Teddy today and he's 3.8 kilos so has put on a bit of weightSmile but still has to sleep in his red box.
Lisa is off til tomorrow but I'm sure she'll be pleased plus that he's only on antacids now.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 30/09/2016 09:29

Such lovely pictures! He looks so content in them. The box looks the perfect size for him (at least, from a feline pov)!

Glad to hear he's been putting on weight. That'll be all the bats you don't know about!

Hope Lisa was pleased with his progress. How can she not have been? He's doing so well!

Anyway, hope you have a good weekend and that the weather dries up enough for the boys to get a good run around outside! x

anoldiebutagoody · 06/10/2016 22:18

Quick update.
Teddy was fine until Sunday morning when he was sick, same as usual -just froth. Wasn't sure what caused it but he had been difficult taking his antacids Friday night and Saturday night so could have spit them out and I didn't notice (they are really small). Still eating OK on Sunday.
Had already left a message at vet on Friday to ask Lisa to call me on Monday to discuss ongoing treatment so decided if he was sick on Monday morning I'd cancel the call and take him in - he wasn't sick and hasn't been since.
I spoke to Lisa and we're going to keep on with the antacids for a while and she was talking about giving him a course of the steroids straight after but I'd prefer to see how he is with no meds and give the steroids if/when he has another flare-up. I'll speak to her again next week about it.
Currently Teddy's eating for Wales, getting nicely chunky and enjoying his forays into the garden, weather permitting☺, so has a very happy mum.

So it's sort of one step backwards but two or three steps forward? Smile

TimeIhadaNameChange · 07/10/2016 09:11

That's brilliant news! (Even the sickness was only one bout, and didn't put him off his food, so definitely an improvement if you get what I mean!).

Glad he's been tucking in ever since. You'll have to reweigh him soon and give me an update. But I'm so glad to hear he has an appetite, and is becoming chubby. Can quite understand why you're so happy, as am I!

T was worried he might start eating her food when I told her but I pointed out she's in Scotland, not Wales, so that's ok! She, too, has been enjoying some weather at long last, which isn't always a good thing. She went out after an early supper on Monday and didn't return til 00:45, which would be fine other than I don't really sleep til I know she's back safe. But she couldn't understand why I was fussing so on her return!

Anyway, give the boy a "Well Done" from me! And my love to him and Bobby too!

cozietoesie · 11/10/2016 13:59

How is the lad doing?

anoldiebutagoody · 11/10/2016 20:06

He's still doing OK - no more sickness, eating well and only on the antacids.
He's growing so much ( he'll be one at the beginning of November) I thought it was time he learnt to use the catflap today.
It took a couple of tries but now he's fine, the first couple of times coming in he must have just run at it as he came in like the devil was chasing him, then turned around to accuse someone of pulling his tail when the flap closed 😂.
Lisa has agreed that we keep him just on the antacids for another month, then she'd like to see him to check him over, of course if he has another flare-up we'll go in sooner.
Please keep your fingers crossed for him, it would be really good news if the only meds he needed regularly were antacids, so we need lots of positive vibes..

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 11/10/2016 20:41

It would be excellent news so fingers crossed.

She must be really pleased with his progress? Smile

TimeIhadaNameChange · 11/10/2016 21:04

That's absolutely fantastic news! Am so very pleased to hear this!

We'll all be keeping our fingers and paws crossed for him this end?

Tell him, from me, to keep up the good work doing lots of munching, and I hope he's enjoying his new found freedom out the catflap. I hope he amd Bobby enjoy their adventures together!

anoldiebutagoody · 12/10/2016 10:09

He's a fighter and he's done well so far, everyone here is very pleased with his progress, cozie 😀
He's still not completely sure about the cat flap, Time, he was sitting in front of the door this morning after breakfast and eventually went through (because I wouldn't open the door) miaowed outside as if to say "it's cold out here" then came back in.
I thought he'd be out all night last night because Bobby was the first time he was able to go back and for, but Teddy was asleep on our bed when I woke in the middle of the night so that was good.
I'll pass your message on Time, and tell him that lots of fingers and paws are crossed ☺

OP posts:
anoldiebutagoody · 13/10/2016 22:46

Looks like Teddy was just gearing up to his nightlife as he spent a lot of last night out. He's definitely going to be a hunter -got up this morning to a 90% eaten shrew (well I think that's what it was there was only one kidney and top jaw left) so looks like he had a midnight feast-so much for only feeding him "sensitive" food too protect his stomach ☺Don't think it was Bobby as everything he caught has been intact, dead but intact and no attempt to eat it .
He doesn't seem to have any I'll effects still in and out, eating loads, even finished off the food Bobby would'nt eat when I was unpacking the shopping this evening and hadn't put their fresh food out, then ate his dinner and started on the dry food, he may grow into his paws yet ! 😁

OP posts:
TimeIhadaNameChange · 13/10/2016 23:17

That's such lovely news to hear! Really so very pleased he's enjoying the great outdoors (though I suspect the local wildlife aren't so keen!) and all that good munching too, of both real-live and packaged varieties!!! I definitely think his paws will be filled very soon!

Thanks for the updates. I think about the boys every day, and hearing about them inevitably puts a smile on my face (unless it's bad news, then I worry!).

You must weigh Teddy and let us know what the scales say now - it certainly sounds like those numbers will have gone up once again!!!!!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 21/10/2016 17:10

How's the boy doing?

anoldiebutagoody · 21/10/2016 18:49

I posted last week but it seems to have disappeared!
All good here Time, they're both not too fussed on the colder weather but unless it's pouring down ( and I haven't managed to stop it raining as requested) they still love going out and about, but no more rodents so far.
I weighed Teddy last week and he weighed 3.8 kilos on my scales so probably 3.6 and last time he was in the vet he was just over 3 kilos so he is getting there slowly.
We are still only giving the antacids, I think Lisa wants to give him a course of the steroids as the receptionist told husband that there was something else to pay for when he collected Teddy's last repeat for antacids, he didn't pay for them but phoned me. When I rang it's the steroids waiting for collection, I'm happy to pay for them and collect them but I am loath to give them to him when he's so well - why rock the boat . I'll call in next week and collect them and have a chat with Lisa.
Hope the weather is being kind to you and Tilly and assorted bunnies etc.

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 21/10/2016 18:57

Maybe she didn't think he'd do as well as he has on just the antacids? Smile Good news so far.

TimeIhadaNameChange · 21/10/2016 19:39

That's great news! He is doing so well, putting on all that weight! And I'm glad to hear he's still enjoying going out and having fun with Bobby. Shame on you for not turning off the rain on command! Disgraceful!!

Am sure Lisa will be thrilled with him too. And no doubt surprised that he's not on the steroids, but pleased he's not needing them.

No idea how my lot are, as I'm down south for the week. Have not heard of any disasters, though, and as himself spoils the whole lot of them far more than me I doubt they're missing me!

TimeIhadaNameChange · 28/10/2016 18:47

How are the hunters this week? Was Lisa pleased with the update?

anoldiebutagoody · 29/10/2016 11:56

They're both OK Time, we had a door mouse visit last week, courtesy of Bobby, alive so I was given the evil eye when I rescued it and returned it to the garden, especially when I wouldn't let them out to retrieve it afterwards.
Teddy's a bit tired today ( probably out a lot last night as it was quite mild here and nice and dry) and can't be bothered to eat much but their dishes were empty this morning and he has had half a dish of food for breakfast so I'll just keep an eye on him, no vomiting he's just quiet.
I've also bought the "keep you fuller longer"dried food for Bobby and noticed last week that when Teddy ate it he didn't eat as much - doesn't seem to have the same effect on Bobby though 😀
Appointment with Lisa is on 9th November , so will update after.
Hope Tilly and her friends are OK and it's not too cold x

OP posts:
TimeIhadaNameChange · 04/11/2016 11:57

Pleased to hear they're doing so well. Have they forgiven you for stealing their dormouse yet? I hope Teddy has continued with the no vomiting pattern!

Highly amused that Teddy is kept fuller longer on Bobby's new diet, but Bobby isn't! Ain't that always the way with cats, contrary beggars that they are!

Tilly and co are doing fine. Well, I'm starving the guineas as per usual (in their opinion!) but the rabbits are enjoying the garden as is Tilly when the rain holds off, which is as good as can be expected!

anoldiebutagoody · 04/11/2016 18:14

Hi Time, not sure I've been forgiven well maybe forgiven but not forgotten as we haven't had any more "gifts"dead or alive, so think they are keeping them for themselves as the humans obviously don't appreciate their generosity😀
Still no vomiting and eating well, bit fussy now and then but overall doing fine. Probably not eating as much as before but then again he's not as active as he was when it was nice and warm.
Neither of them are happy with the cold weather so only venture out if the sun's out or they fancy a quick visit to next door's garden to chase the wildlife, they don't go out as much even at night, so they are both turning into lazy blighters!
Appointment on Wednesday, what's the betting it will be the one morning he wants to go out rather then snooze on the bed where I can get at him (to put him in the carrier).
Glad everyone is good with you-shame on you starving the guineas 😂.
I went to our local rescue centre on Tuesday as they advertised for cat lovers to come and sit/play with the cats waiting to be adopted. They have 20 adult cats and about 12 kittens 4 of which are the most beautiful kittens you have ever seen, lovely markings - pale grey/ silver tabby and very pale beige/ginger but they are feral and weren't caught early enough to socialise them. I have mixed emotions about going again, I probably will but when I came home to my two boys it really stood out how little the rescues have, they have somewhere dry to sleep and are fed but that's about it, poor loves.

anoldiebutagoody · 05/11/2016 12:20

Oh well I suppose it was too good to last, Teddy was sick at 4am this morning and isn't eating 😞. He's hungry but just sniffs the food and turns away, think his tummy is sore and he's associating food and pain.
Lisa isn't in until Wednesday and we already have an appointment then, so I've bitten the bullet, given him the steroids (Budesonide) and am praying that they won't trigger You Know What. We need lots of positive vibes in this direction please, don't know how long they'll take to kick in hopefully he'll start to improve after a couple of days.
