Ds2's schoolyard pal has a cat who has had kittens. There are five of them. Two boys and three girls.

Oh yes?, just going to have a look?.

With the cat carrier or without?.

hiddenhome · 14/09/2014 13:08

Oh, they're not ready until the beginning of next month.

Dh is behind all this you know Hmm he says that our young cat needs a playmate. She keeps trying to play with our old one, but she can't be bothered.

Do you think I should?

The tortie at the end or the grey one are the ones to choose from. They're both girls. The cream one is taken and the two gingers are boys.

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/09/2014 13:16

I'd have both. In for a penny & all that.

hiddenhome · 14/09/2014 13:20

I can't afford both Sad

It would be nice though Grin

Aww they are adorable. I'd go for the tortie, but that might be because I have a grey. Don't be tempted to take her early, a friend of mine took home a kitten at 4 weeks and it has turned into a tiny cat that always seems to have ear infections and is scared to leave the garden. They should be with their mum until 8 weeks ideally.

hiddenhome · 14/09/2014 13:37

Okay, I'll find out how old they are tomorrow.

I like the grey one, but ds2 likes the tortie.

CatKisser · 14/09/2014 17:05

Is there ANY chance they'd do a deal for you to take two? After seeing how my kitten adores my 1 year old cat, I don't think I'd take a single kitten on again. Then again, I live alone therefore house is empty a lot, whereas yours is probably a lot busier.
They are STUNNING kittens though. Just beautiful.

katiegee · 14/09/2014 17:05

I'm jealous... I'd love a new kitten but I can't see our two reacting well to an imposter! They are gorgeous when they are little balls of fluff like that... I'd be tempted by the grey one, I've never had a grey cat before... although that tortie is unbelievably cute!

sashh · 14/09/2014 17:07

You need the tortie and a ginger.

RubbishMantra · 14/09/2014 19:31

The grey one is beautiful, I have a weakness for grey cats.

Is there a reason why you would prefer a girl to a boy? Females are dominant, so you may find a male fits into the cat hierarchy more sweetly?

hiddenhome · 14/09/2014 19:33

My old cat can't get on with males. She's terrified of them. She seems to be tolerating my young female quite well.

Also, I'm ill fated with male cats. I've lost them all after only having them for about 18 months Sad I find they go wandering off - in spite of being neutered. My females are more home loving and don't have the urge to go.

hiddenhome · 14/09/2014 19:34

The kittens are free to a good home.

OP posts:
CatKisser · 14/09/2014 19:40

Free? Wow!
Obviously I know bog all about your circumstances so having one may be the only option - it's just I'm so aware that the kitten I kept alone for a year is sooooo much less sociable and relaxed than the others. I love him to bits, but to an outsider he's unsociable and shy. I spoke to a cattery owner and she was saying how strongly she believed kittens should be homed in pairs.

I have to say as well that that I found the difference between feeding/littering one and two to be very small. It's now I'm feeding 4 I'm bloody noticing it.

But honestly, if one is all you want, I'm certain it ill be well loved and happy. They are such a stunning litter, aren't they???

Beautifullymixed · 14/09/2014 21:22

Gorgeous kitties! I second going for two. How can you choose between the stunning tortie and beautiful grey girls. They would be such good company for each other, and play tear around the place like maniacs for hours.

I adore beautifullymixed tortie cat to pieces, she's insane. How can you leave a tortie behind.Smile

hiddenhome · 14/09/2014 21:26

Oh, no, I already have two cats at home, so she will have company. One of my cats is about 16 months old, so she's still young and playful.

If I had no cats at all, I would definitely have two of the kittens Grin

It's all the vaccinations and vet treatments for fleas that adds up.

I'm dreading going to our vet tm, he's got a bleeding claw, a possible uti & he needs vaccinating.

I'll be lucky to get away with spending a £100 on that little lot.

hiddenhome · 14/09/2014 21:39

I know. When old cat needs dental care under GA, it's £300 Shock

I have money put away for veterinary emergencies and the younger one is insured, but the flea/worming stuff costs.

My old cat can only eat expensive food now or she's chronically vomiting. Of course the young one nicks it, so I've put them both onto it to avoid faffing around Confused

OP posts:
hiddenhome · 14/09/2014 21:40

Sorry your kitty has a uti Sad I think the claw will be easy enough to deal with.

OP posts:
Beautifullymixed · 14/09/2014 21:56

OP didn't read properly sorry, yes you already have two cats.
How are you going to choose? Envy
I had a closer look (what a wonderful photo), they both are so beautiful. I love grey cats as well, but the colours on that tortie...........

Fluffycloudland77 · 14/09/2014 21:58

It's the flash of ginger isn't it?

Beautifullymixed · 14/09/2014 22:17

It is indeed fluffy Smile

When i went to choose a kitten, I saw the cute tabby, the sweet ginger, but as soon as I saw beautifullymixed tortiecats face- I was smitten. The expression, the mix of colours......

Gonna show you a baby picture now
