Ds2's schoolyard pal has a cat who has had kittens. There are five of them. Two boys and three girls.

She has beautiful markings.

hiddenhome · 14/09/2014 22:42

That kitty is beautiful!

I don't know how to choose. Ds2 likes the tortie. How can I turn down my son's choice? Grin

I like the grey though.

Do torties have good temperaments?

Torties or naughty torties should I say, are known for being slightly nuts. Smile

Mine certainly has many quirks, and a slightly dozy look-which I just adore. She is mine and dd18 kitty. Ds19, ds10, ds8 and dd21 love the sensible especially in comparison with the mad one black and white cat, who is calm, laid back and never steps a foot out of place.

Boring I say. Life definitely isn't boring with my tortie. Smile

RubbishMantra · 14/09/2014 23:34

You will know which one to adopt when you meet them I reckon. Trust your insticts. Smile

Beautifullymixed · 15/09/2014 06:28

Yes yes rubbish you are absolutely right. However much the OP dithers with the decision, as soon as she sees those babies, she will know which one is hers.

So very exciting.
I honestly felt like I was bringing a new baby home from the hospital. SmileSmile

Want a kitten.

Dh and ds2 seemed to go for the grey one Smile

We can have her in two weeks. Just have to decide in a name now.

Awww, they remind me of my 2. They were abandoned at a vets. We took the grey and the tortie at the back (we were only going to get the grey girl but the tortie boy would've been the only one left and DH (who didnt really want one kitten let alone 2!) said "we're not leaving one behind!"). We've had them 16 months and he dotes on them even more than I do!

All these cat disliking men are really just big softies aren't they.

I wonder who she'll choose to be her human?.

hiddenhome · 15/09/2014 21:07

Aw, men are big softies aren't they? Grin

One of the ginger boys made himself at home in the crook of dh's arm and went to sleep whilst we were there. All cats seem to love dh.

I just hope my other two get used to her.

Lovely kitten pics and I'm secretly pleased you've chosen the grey kitten (although I wouldn't have been able to walk away from the ginger tabbies!)

Good luck with the introductions

hiddenhome · 15/09/2014 21:38

I'm going to confine the wee one in ds2's room for overnights for a while until she finds her way around the house. I'll put a litter tray, food and water in there and introduce her gradually.

Gorgeous!

Don't spose they're near Birmingham? We're desperate for a ginger boy kitten

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2014 17:26

Try a rescue sanctuary, they'll have one sooner or later.

No shortage of kittens in this country.

hiddenhome · 16/09/2014 19:42

No, I'm in the NE Sad

CatKisser · 16/09/2014 20:10

Aaaagh, me too, Hidden!!!! do they have any left? Do they? Do they??

GerundTheBehemoth · 16/09/2014 20:16

How gorgeous :)

The grey one you've picked may have 'tortitude' as she is a dilute tortoiseshell (ie blue and cream rather than black and ginger) - very beautiful and quite a rare colour among standard moggies.

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2014 20:27

Cat kisser, no. You have three.

Step away from the kittens.

CatKisser · 16/09/2014 21:14

I knoooow!!!
(More like 5 now for various horrific reasons involving farm cats and their offspring)

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2014 21:18

Oh lord, he's just letting them breed unchecked isn't he?.

CatKisser · 16/09/2014 21:32

Well, I spoke to him regarding this one lovely cat that was pregnant and kept coming for food. Apparently she's his girlfriend's "pet" and is fed perfectly adequately. This is untrue as the cat is years old and the much younger girlfriend has only been around for months.
Furthermore, there must be other females on the farm I've never seen as there are kittens of various ages...

So. Sorry if this is wrong, but I now feel I cannot call out anyone to trap and neuter as
a) he will know it's me and he's not happy at my interference already
b) They're his "pets"
c) I'm sure he thinks I stole Olive.... I took her out the road in a pissing down rain storm - I went up the farm track looking for a possible litter and found nothing. I maybe should have told him I'd found her but he has a rep for drowing kittens.

Sorry for the rant/hijack!

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2014 21:38

I think you need TCN.

What you do is wrap a huge box up with the cat in a carrier inside like a huge present.

Then you take cat to be spayed. Then it goes to a foster home while the fur grows back.

Then re-wrap the cat and bring it back.

Hey presto, mysteriously no more kittens. He's hardly likely to vet her is he?.

CatKisser · 16/09/2014 21:45

I really don't think I'd get away with that - the conversation about farm cat only came about because he observed how much time she was spending sitting on my garden wall [guilt] He would definitely notice if she was absent for several weeks.

I've only been here a year - this cat has clearly been around a long time.

I can't get around the feeling it's not my business to go round interefering with other people's animals.

Sorry I'm not being helpful!

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/09/2014 21:56

No, it's ok. I'm dying to loosen next doors cats collar but I worry they'll see me.

You have to have TCN's balls to carry these things off.
