My poor boy

mrsjrob · 19/09/2013 22:19

My 13 month old tabby fell into a container of diesel, he's become really ill and my husband has took him to emergency vet. Does anybody know if he is likely to recover from this? We would be heartbroken to lose him

So, so sorry mrsjrob Sad

ozymandiusking · 22/09/2013 21:22

mrsjrob, I am so sorry for you and your puss cat.The pain one feels is horrendous. The price we pay for loving.

mrsjrob · 22/09/2013 21:24

The vet said he has burns all over his body, she gave him medicine for his skin just in case it helped overnight but she said it would be a "miracle" if it worked.the vet said he won't be in any pain tonight so it was ok to bring him home, or I would've had him pts then and there

Cybercat · 22/09/2013 21:31

I just can't get my head around the idea that someone could do that - I don't believe it was accidental. Please accept my apologies for questionning if you should have brought him home. I only asked as I was a vet nurse in previous years and I saw so many people blinkered by their feelings to an extent where they couldn't always be rational.

I miss the 2 cats we lost this year desperately and you are in my thoughts tonight.

BehindTheScenesAtTheMumseum · 22/09/2013 21:42

How awful. I'm so very sorry mrsjrob Sad

fackinell · 22/09/2013 21:59

Oh how utterly heartbreaking Sad
I am so sorry to hear this and absolutely furious at your neighbour. To think this was so preventable is what makes me so mad. It won't make your darling better but can you report this to RSPCA when you feel up to it?

Thanks and a massive hug to you. He will know you are there and feel your love.

mrsjrob · 22/09/2013 23:06

Thank you all so much for your kind words. dh and I have been crying reading them x x

OP posts:
hellymelly · 22/09/2013 23:43

I am very sad , and I didn't even know him. Told my DH who is shocked. Agree that this is a police and RSPCA matter now. At the v.least it will be logged so if he does something similar to another animal then it will be taken seriously. Really feel for you tonight. Am hoping he somehow hangs in there tonight, but realise from what you have said it is v. unlikely.
Sounds as though the vets have been v. upset by this too.
Sending (( )) hugs to you.

fackinell · 23/09/2013 00:18

Sad I hope you are getting some comfort from everyone's caring words and its not too upsetting.

The fact this neighbour kicked his dog in the face too should make RSPCA take notice.

I'm so upset for you all as I had a final night with my boy last year knowing he was being pts in the morning and I was heartbroken. We just lay on the bed and hugged. I feel your pain completely!!! I was pretty much hysterical in the vets and his was natural causes.

What goes around comes around, I'm a great believer in this. Watch and wait...
Thanks

I'm so sorry, the person who did this is scum. Please report it to the police.

No animal deserves to suffer like this.

fackinell · 23/09/2013 07:45

cozietoesie · 23/09/2013 08:48

I'm so SO sorry to hear this, it really is just awful. I hope being able to give Whitey a last night at home with all of you is of some comfort.

DidoTheDodo · 23/09/2013 10:23

I am so so sorry to hear this. I don't know what to say except this is so utterly unfair and foul and very sad.
Angry on your behalf and also sending hugs for the loss of your lovely boy.

TheWinterOne · 23/09/2013 10:29

I'm so sorry. Thinking of you all. RSPCA definitely need to be informed - kicking a dog in the face is absolutely disgusting. He needs to be slapped with a ban on having animals if that's how he thinks they should be treated. What a vile, vile man.

Karma will hit and when it does you can just sit back with a big grin on your face.

mrsjrob · 23/09/2013 11:57

I've still got my boy, turns out he has an infection but will get better.

The vet was quite annoyed the out of hours vet told me he would be pts, we are delighted however in my anger this morning I rang up to complain and lost my temper with the vet Confused I did call back to apologise.

Whitey has burns but it's not life threatening so he will defo get better, the infection is what caused him to worsen but after pain medication he managed to walk Grin

Oooh!! You're post has soooo cheered my crap day up. I was ever so worried about him and I'm thrilled he will be okay.
GrinGrinGrin Atta boy Whitey!!

Mogz · 23/09/2013 12:02

Oh thank goodness, I hope he makes a speedy recovery and you spoil him rotten with toys and treats. And that the disposable person who hurt him gets what's coming to them, how anyone can harm an animal is beyond me, they must be very twisted.

thecatneuterer · 23/09/2013 12:04

oh thank god for that. I've been thinking about him all morning. I even had a bit of a cry about him last night I was so upset. (I know - hanging about in The Litter Tray really does me no good at all).

Anyway I'm thrilled for you and him! And I'm sure the vets will understand. Thank heavens you didn't get him pts last night!

mrsjrob · 23/09/2013 12:07

I hopefully have uploaded a pic of my boy with his collar on taken yesterday.

Hopefully you'll all be able to see it

OP posts:
cozietoesie · 23/09/2013 12:10

That's excellent news. He looks a bit miserable but otherwise a lot better than I thought he would.

Go Whitey!

MILLYMOLLYMANDYMAX · 23/09/2013 12:14

So happy for you and Whitey Smile

hellymelly · 23/09/2013 12:17

I am so happy! Logged on to see how he was, hardly hoping he would still be alive, and he is! Really good news.
He looks sad in his collar (they do hate those) but luckily he is a young cat and should heal quickly. I am wishing him a really speedy recovery, and there are just no words for your next door neighbour that would cover how I feel.
