What is your cat called?

Just being nosy really and looking for inspiration

Does the name you've chosen suit him/her because of looks/personality or is it so inappropriate as to be ironic?

Also, does anyone give their pedigree cat a ridiculous moniker (a la Crufts), then a 'normal' nickname or is that just for dogs?

Our black cat is Zeus and yes he is very much in charge! Also very like Toothless but he pre-dates the film

Our tabby was called Minnie at Battersea but when we got her we needed to rename her as our lovely old black ball of fluff who'd died a couple of months before had also been called Minnie and the dc thought it was too confusing. She ended up as Daisy because ds1 was obsessed with Thomas the tank engine at the time and wanted to call her Thomas or James ... We explained that it might be a bit odd calling a girl cat Thomas so be compromised on one of the girl engines ...

Our soon-to-be arriving arabian mau is Shuri, short for Shuriken - ds2's ninja-obsessed choice

Karbea - I love the name Crumble. In fact you've given me a naughty idea. My boyfriend loves apple and rhubarb crumble but he hates rats. I love rats and think I will name my next rat Crumble Grin

My old cat was called Figaro. I named him after the cat in Pinocchio when I was little because he was black and white.
My current cats are called Sally (tabby) and Lyla (Norwegian forest cat). They're named
after the only two female names that appear in Oasis songs (Oasis are my favourite band Grin ).
My childhood cat teddy/toy is called Sassy, named after the cat from Homeward Bound because it was one of my favourite childhood films :)

I've currently only got one cat. He's Oscar, named after a much-loved cat that went missing when I was a teen. His unofficial names include shitbag, smelly, you bastard!, boocat, the boo, his majesty, schpuffcat, my little baby...

Ex-cats - I lost a wonderful ginger tom called Jasper, and a beautiful dove grey tuxedo called Stella - Italian for star. She had tortie kittens I called Marmite and Pickle - Marmite was mostly dark brown and Pickle was a little sod. Their new mum gave them new names :)

Our cats are called Ash (greyish with orange undertone), who is mother to Wicky (a torbie) and Bean (who is orange, like a baked bean).

Ash is a lazy fireside cat, Wicky is a wicked cuddly spiky attitudinal teenager and Bean is just an idiot!

Over the years we've had:

Fungus (inspired by the toadstools growing in the footwell of my husbands old Chevette)
Suggs (part of Fungus backwards)
Aggie (ugly Aggie, runt of the litter who lasted years)
Ellie
Griffin (after the local pub)
Cobweb (black cat)

Miss his little face. 18 years old.

When I was a teen we got a kitten and he tried so hard to be regal I guess, so we called him Darling from Black Adder. It still makes me and my brother laugh that my dear old dad has to call 'Darling!' in the garden!

Dp brought home 2 rescue kittens this week who we named 'the red one' and 'the black one' because of their collars Grin after 2/3 days i chose oscar and milo for them just based on their looks but oscar was very nearly an arthur.

Milo has now moved in to next doors house - he got out the backs, went in their house and wouldn't come back out! Luckily our ndn are lovely and are happy to keep him if he deigns to live there :)

Jelly he is a pure grey boy & really suits his name though I haven't a clue why I called him that

RaRa A long haired Maine coon cross boy also all grey with bright yellow eyes and the longest tail I have ever seen (his nickname is skunk because he constantly has his tail stuck in the air & its really bushy)

Rosie was a very timid cat up until recently , she is also Maine coon cross so long haired and she is grey and white

RJ (short for Rosie Junior) she has the exact same colourings as her mum but on the opposite side & also grey & white

JJ (short for Jelly Junior) as he is also short haired & grey {nicknamed Jaws as he likes to sneak round with his tail pointed in the air) Grin

Ollie is pure grey but much lighter than the rest and very podgy

I haven't a clue why all my cats are grey as it wasn't a choice Grin

Our old girl is called Harriet. It was her name when we got her and suits her perfectly. She is a very pretty dainty little tabby. 17 years old but still acts like a kitten.

My 13 year old kitten is Motley - she's a tortie so is sort of mottled! It suited her the minute I saw her.

2nd eldest is 7 year old Sparkle. He was a girl named Bacardi when I got him. I changed "her" name - then there were a couple of developments! He remained Sparkle though as it suits him.

3rd cat is Rosie - after the AC/DC song, and it suits her! She's a grey tortie.

4th cat is Ruby. I had her for 2 days before coming up with the right name and tried her out with a few beforehand (she was nearly Jemima but it just didn't feel right!). Then the Kaiser Chiefs song came on the TV and as I started singing along with the chorus she looked at me as if I was calling her.

DP had two cats before we met - he called them Nikki and Blackie. He says after Nikki Sixx and Blackie Lawless - but Blackie just happens to be black so the poor cat is lumbered with a boring common cat name (but is a lovely cat and carries it off well!)

Our kitten is called CC. I rescued her from the car park at work and it was short for Car park Cat. We have lengthened it to Cecilia as her full name!

They all have posh showcat names too - Hurricane Motley, Sparkle Star Krusher, Rosie Storm, Ruby Delilah, Nikki Pernod Gremlin, Cecilia Tiffany (after the 80's singer Tiffany, as she sounds like her when you pick her up!) and, ummm..........Blackie.
