Missing cat has returned but ....

Charley went missing just under a year ago...searched everywhere, did leaflet drops etc, many sightings but no one could get him. We now have two females, both spayed. I thought I saw Charley last week, just a fleeting glance so wasn't sure. Then yesterday dh clearing out his works van, I was out there too and along comes Charley following one of my females :) I was patient, sat down near them as they laid together under a car then watched them following each other about. He did at one point lay in front of me, but I was worried about scaring him. He came back AGAIN about an hour later..went to follow our female into the house then she turned round and went back out !! So he sat on our front garden for ages...when I called him he would look at me but didn't make any attempt to come up to me or dh (he was Charleys fav :) ) I took lots of photos have compared them to when he was younger and the markings are exactly the same.
What do I do now?? I am eagerly waiting for him to pop up again hopefully should I attempt to approach him? Should I put his old bed out for him?? Any ideas?

He has just spent an hour here making no attempt to escape, even though all the windows were open Smile I opened the back door for him but he was reluctant to go out there. He has been very vocal Grin and he actually jumped up on dh and sat on his lap, he would never have done that last week. He is now laying on the grass on the front garden. The change already is amazing !

About time for an update, but not good news :( Charley hasn't been seen since about 3 weeks after we neutered him, but I am assuming he is all curled up on someone's sofa Angry I am hopeful he might pop back sometime soon. However little Lucy the tortiseshell hasn't been seen for just over a week :( I am gutted, she is a lovely little girl & so good with the kids, she would run upstairs to jump on dd's bed and wake her up :( . I have gone from 3 cats to 1, Milly is the only one here and she only likes me. I have spoken to dh and said I can't do it again. Milly will stay for as long as she is here but I won't be getting another cat :( I love cats, I had my first for 15 years, she died on our dining room table from old age, I have never had this before, cats just going missing like this. Two in just over a year.
I also found out that in the last week another cat from round the corner has also gone missing :( .

Oh dear, sorry to hear this.

Fluffycloudland77 · 15/08/2012 21:45

I'm so sorry topknob, I thought his wandering days were over.

Have you thought of reporting it to the rspca or police? there may be foul play involved.

Do you keep milly in?

floranora · 15/08/2012 22:06

i have just found this thread and was SO happy for you that you found charley again! hope you find the 2 little buggers soon!

crazynanna · 15/08/2012 22:08

oh no top Sad

topknob · 15/08/2012 22:54

Not reported to authorties but I have done the leaflets and facebook pages etc...no one has seen either :( Not too worried about Charley as he can clearly look after himself or has rehomed himself, but Lucy is only a year old, spayed etc and has never been gone longer than a night :( something has happened to her I am sure :( Milly never goes further than the house and the back garden so I am quite confident with her, she loves me alot :)

Heard the dog barking in the garden so came down and opened the front door, through habit more than anything and Lucy comes running in, I have checked her over and she seems fine, I am so pleased and happy. She is hungry but quite fat 3) so where on earth has she been??? Both dd's have been down to cuddle her as have I but wtf???

Smile

one home...one to go!

She's had someone fall in love with ther and spoil her!

So happy she's home x

Fluffycloudland77 · 16/08/2012 09:07

Maybe she has two homes, I had a friend whose male neutered fat bastard of a cat had a home with another couple who thought he was a girl!

Now we just need charley to come home.

floranora · 16/08/2012 16:38

YAY for Lucy! now for that little sod Charley to return.... fingers crossed for you!
