What expression do your cats have?

MrsSchadenfreude · 30/03/2012 22:54

My Maine Coon seems to be permanently "bewildered". (He is beautiful, but not bright, bless him.)

The grey kitten's expression is "outraged."

And my last two cats were "cross" and "cheerful."

my 2yr old male cat has an expression of a teenage boy which is "who the f*ck do you think you are?" - I love him so I put up with it. He doesn't meow he just says "now'

Fluffycloudland77 · 31/03/2012 11:07

Like a gangster patrolling his manor, relaxed, in controll, no ones going to give him any cheek.

He also does;

Starving
Hopeful
your leaving me down here alone all night?
You are such a spoilsport
Hmmm, havent seen this aspect of human behaviour before, I must write about it on my blog.
Is that the mommy? she didnt have green face when I went out (facepack night)

edam · 31/03/2012 11:09

Mine's a stary cat. He stares at you. A lot.

There's also 'no-one's fed me for hours' and 'I really really need someone to tickle my tummy' which oddly enough never includes the second half 'and I'm going to claw your hand to death'.

crazynanna · 31/03/2012 11:14

"Any treats' on the go?"

Catsmamma · 31/03/2012 11:19

I have a "whasssssup dude" cat...that's reuben

A "yes, minion, can I help you?" ..that's faerie

and oscar is ginger and very "oh really" ...this is particularly versatile

oh really, you want me to do what?
oh really, was I not right to yakk up all over your bed?
oh really, are you sure it's not breakfast time again?

BibiBlocksberg · 01/04/2012 00:21

Oh, where to start with this subject :)

When Tigger first arrived as a freshly re-homed 'recruit' I used to laugh because he had a permanent wide eyed expression of 'I've been at the catnip'

Now his most used expression is 'happy royal highness' mixed with ever hopeful 'was that a bowl of food I heard?'

He also has a two warning system of expressions when I'm trying to check any part of his body in any detail (for fight wounds mainly) - first warning is the 'what the hell do you think you're doing face' if I carry on I get a slightly more outraged face with a raised paw and attempt three is a swipe with his paw accompanied by a face that says 'I bloody told you to quit that' :)

My favourite though is the sudden inquisitive and intensive stare at my face when he's napping next to me on the sofa. So cute since that's usually followed by a loud meow, headbump and cuddles for me.

Smudge is not quite as expressive but lovely nonetheless since she always looks like she's smiling.

When not smiling it's usually the 'oh, fuck, Tigger's seen me move, I'm done for', 'don't you dare carry on stroking me' and 'chin to the ceiling, snoozing while smiling face'

D0oinMeCleanin · 01/04/2012 00:24

'fud me' usually. Even when his bowl is full.

Devora · 01/04/2012 00:26

Dimwitted astonishment. That's it, just the one expression. Even the vet has commented on how blunt-brained my cat is.

MrsSchadenfreude · 01/04/2012 18:31

I wonder if our cats are related, Devora? Grin

The grey one veers between baleful and put-upon; the tabby is a mixture of cross and tongue-out stupidity.

Love it Devora!
Mostyn, play with me, I must sneak up on fluffy and chase him, wotcha doing?
Fluffy, I love you, I hate you for bringing Mostyn home, I am more intelligent than you human.
We used to have a Smudge, he was a sexy bitch (Austin Powers,) and he knew it!

DontCallMeBaby · 01/04/2012 21:03

Sausage - 'now what are you up to?' He is the most suspicious looking creature I have ever seen. He alternates this with a maximum of half an hour a day of 'omg I really love you'. Aw. He is MY boy.

Pickle is a lolcat. 'Oh hai! I can haz ham?' Eternally hopeful, that one.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 01/04/2012 21:06

Rosie "I am superior to you, I only put up with you because I've nowhere better to be, now stroke/feed/adore/leave me"

Bert "I AM REALLY HAPPY AND SO GORGEOUS AND I LOVE YOU AND YOU AND YOU AND YOU........"

as an aside Rosie is currently chewing an emery board??? Any explanations welcome

sashh · 02/04/2012 04:43

Mine has an 'I'm innocent' look permenantly plastered on her face, particularly when she is doing something she knows she shouldn't like sitting on the table.

She can hear the fridge door open from a mile away and she too does "I can haz ham" - pathetic whining as though she has never been fed

Next door neighbours have 3 cats plus 2 on a temporary visit. One used to come into the house before I had my own cat - she still tries to come in and occasionally succedes and looks at me with "you used to love me" on her face.

Another looks either suprised or stupid. She walks into the garden and past the back door - if it is open she looks in and is suprised that there are humans and stops and stares not knowing what to do, then walks off - I'm sure there is nothing going on behind her eyes.

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 02/04/2012 18:23

Grin My cousin and her boyfriend have looked after DD while I went to work today. They spent a few hours in the house.

Apparently, Rosie walked in, looked them up and down with such disdain and then turned, flicked her tail in disgust and sat herself down right in front of the TV staring at them!

Neither were brave enough to move her (I have a particularly nasty scratch from her, I'd warned them she can be....an evil bitch temperamental)

SecretNutellaFix · 02/04/2012 18:25

Boycat looks permanently frustrated
Girlcat looks worried

Pascha · 02/04/2012 18:26

The Ginger Moron - mardy.
The Snowshoe - love me pleeeeaaaase!

BrianCoxHasScaryHair · 02/04/2012 18:31

The Ginger Moron I have one of them Grin

Pascha · 02/04/2012 18:49

See my profile. Thick as shit.

Fluffycloudland77 · 02/04/2012 18:51

Your profile pics of your cats are lovely.

I like the cat chewing on the dog.

BibiBlocksberg · 03/04/2012 20:23

"oh hai, I can haz ham?'' :) yep, got that here too.

Just remembered the 'I'm really good aren't I' face when said ham is out of the fridge. Sitting right beside me and staring up with the slightly closed eyes and cat smile plastered on :)

Or the 'me? Noo, I just came in here to wash my arse' face.

aJumpedUpPantryBoy · 03/04/2012 20:27

Cat#1 veers between glaring and pityful (especially if he wants feeding)
Cat#2 happy
Cat#3 is a member of the terminally stupid club and looks bewildered
Cat#4 worried
Cat#5 imperious

BrianCoxHasScaryEggs · 03/04/2012 20:56

Grin Fluffy - he's a bit weird but the dog seems to like the attention!

Pascha - I think I may be a little bit in love with the Ginger Moron He's a bit handsome and looks huge!

Lol'd at I just came in here to wash my arse face and member of the terminally stupid club Grin

Brilliant!

BibiBlocksberg · 03/04/2012 21:05

Yeah, but we all know full well the 'wash my arce face' is just a cover story BrianCoxHasScaryEggs :)

I realised early on that Tigger runs a full on 'schmoozing' campaign if he really wants to be fed. He's the most affectionate cuddly cat anyway but he steps it up a notch when 'schmoozing'

I've turned it to my full advantage now - down on the floor I get, Tigger snuggles right up, paws twitching in the air in ectasy, lovely fluffy white chin offered up for stroking - THE WORKS Grin......followed by the walk to the kitchen door and the pitiful cries.
