What expression do your cats have?

My Maine Coon seems to be permanently "bewildered". (He is beautiful, but not bright, bless him.)

The grey kitten's expression is "outraged."

And my last two cats were "cross" and "cheerful."

Dense. I think I have the thickest cat in history.

BrianCoxHasScaryEggs · 03/04/2012 21:10

Smarties - my Bert comes a close second. Genuinely think he has ishoos due to being dumped at vets as a kitten, taken from mum too early and then the trauma of breaking his pelvis Sad

It comes to something when the vet can see it. She actually said that he may be in more pain than he's willing to admit to, ie he's too stupid to realise he's in pain so if we don't cage-rest him, he'll do lots more damage! Blush

Oh the shame!

BibiBlocksberg · 03/04/2012 21:10

One more before I call the helpline - the kissing the paw face.

If either one of my two sit with one or two paws stretched out I can't help myself, I have to go and plant kisses on them Blush

The faces I get for that are brilliant, wish my eyes were cameras at that time.

Both of them go from a puzzled face to head drawn back, 'that's right, worship the royal paw' - until it's withdrawn in a swift, 'that's enough now' motion.

Needless to say they've learnt to always tuck all of their paws tightly under them when I'm around :)

Cat A - mostly confused. A bit of bewilderment thrown in.
Cat B - mostly plain malevolence.

how does one misuse the cat section of the forum? Confused

Grin

Hassled - malevolence, yep, that's a Rosie-ism too.

TerrierMalpropre · 03/04/2012 21:26

I don't have my own cats but my Mum and Dad have three anti-social ones. They are:

Cat #1: "I hate you and I hate your stupid ass-face" (gold star for anyone that can name that movie!)

Cat #2: "I'm going to kill you the second you turn your back"

Cat #3: "I'm not hiding, I'm planning a stealth claw-attack when your children walk by".

They are charming. From close observation of these cats over the years, I've determined that kitty-cats belong outdoors. They develop serious mental infirmities if kept in the house Grin.

babyicebean · 03/04/2012 21:27

Psyco cat - just looks sneeringly at everyone

BibiBlocksberg · 03/04/2012 21:31

"how does one misuse the cat section of the forum?"

By flooding the place with my many postings of my oh so wonderful cats :)

Well, I did have to wait absolute eons for them so now they get spoilt rotten.

Years of trawling the petfood isles of supermarkets wailing (internally, not for all to hear) 'oh, how I wish I had a cat to buy cat food for'

Looking at my monthly kitty food bill now I sometimes wish I could take it back (only for a split nano second though)

Talking about food and faces - Tigger loves a bit of raw steak at the weekend so I was buying him a small offcut of fillet steak (how the furry half live) - the woman wrapping it up for me cheerily went 'oh, that'll be a nice treat for you'

Errm, no, it's for the cat actually - her Shock Shock Shock

I tell you now, my lot are going to be total royalty at Rainbow Bridge when they have to go to the great litter tray in the sky eventually :)

TerrierMalpropre · 03/04/2012 21:42

Bibi- you're the cat version of ME! (My dog sounds vair similar to your Tigger) No shame Smile.

CroissantNeuf · 03/04/2012 21:57

Our (recently deceased Sad) cat spent 16 years looking as if she had a bad smell under her nose.

BibiBlocksberg · 03/04/2012 21:58

Oh good, I'm not the only one who has been so completely wrapped around a paw then - I do worry sometimes, especially when cats in particular are often regarded as 'well, he/she is just there' in real life.

Dogs, most people can understand the absolute love humans have for them but it doesn't feel as acceptable to gush on about my cats somehow. Attracts some funny looks hence t'internet and especially MN is my haven :)

I keep quoting this but I read last year that cats have enough intelligence to have a self image. The basic premise was that if the owner/slave thinks he or she is wonderful, beautiful, lovely etc then the cat will see itself as that too and the other way around.

Sure dogs must have that as well, just seemed even more amazing from the seemingly ever self assured cat :)

BertieBotts · 03/04/2012 21:58

"Doing 90 miles on the roof of a car"

Seriously. Look at my profile.

BibiBlocksberg · 03/04/2012 22:02

My sincere condolences CroissantNeuf :( - can never hear about any pet departing this earth without tearing up myself - I like to think that all loving thoughts and sympathy can speed the little ones arrival at the bridge.

'Bad smell under her nose' :) - it's good though that she had the security to pull that look off for so long, knowing she was loved and could bask in being her superior self.

BibiBlocksberg · 03/04/2012 22:06

"Doing 90 miles on the roof of a car"

ROFL! - I just looked but got distraced by your gorgeous son.

Your cat is what is referred to as a 'railway cat' on IcanHasCheezeburger I think (due to his penchant for sitting/sleeping like that)

CroissantNeuf · 03/04/2012 22:09

Thank you Bibi -we do miss her but it makes me smile thinking about her when I'm reading this thread. She could give such withering looks but was so loving when she wanted to be.

Her son, a ginger and white tom with a very pink nose, used to have a permanent "It wasn't me. Honest" look about him. He used to hurtle through the catflap into the kitchen looking as guilty as hell and then go and peep out of the French windows as if to check that he hadn't been followed.

Growlithe · 03/04/2012 22:10

Very cross - she's wearing the cone of shame at the moment because she's just had an operation, poor girl.

coffeeandcream · 07/04/2012 14:37

Hex, my tabby girl has that sleepy, almost post orgasmic kind of expression
whereas my B&W boy Jinx has an utterly disdainful, 'I won't even give you the time of day / go clean my litter box, / what? no steak for tea?' look to him!

BibiBlocksberg · 07/04/2012 22:49

"what? no steak for tea?"

Grin - I'm sooo glad I'm not the only one with the steak coffeeandcream :)

Hope 'cross cat with a cone' is getting used to her confinement and is less disdainful at the whole palaver now Growlithe.

He he he - still chuckling at the steak face. I always wind Tigger up a bit - as soon as I say 'who wants steak and prawnies' he knows and sits on the sofa twitching one ear and looking at me as if to say 'did I hear right? Is it steak night?'

BertieBotts · 07/04/2012 22:55

Are you thinking of monorail cat? He's quite different - look.

I do love it, though. At the moment he's currently banned from the living room because I've just had to separate our four gerbils into two cages and he is FAR too interested in them.

EsmeWeatherwax · 07/04/2012 23:02

My cat's sole expression is "Fuck you, I hope you die." Seriously, take a look at my profile pic of him. He looks like that all the time.

He's the friendliest cat I've ever met though. Loves everybody!

MrsSchadenfreude · 07/04/2012 23:02

Bibi - I am a paw kisser too. Blush

I used to pick up my Maine Coon, stick my face next to his and say "Kiss me!" and he used to oblige with a little lick on the nose. But the other week he sank his teeth in. We haven't tried that little game since. Oh no.

OP posts:
BibiBlocksberg · 07/04/2012 23:39

Yeah, another paw kisser!! :)

Sorry the kiss me game went wrong - reckon it's worth trying again though, what's a little tetanus shot compared to a cat kiss Grin

Tigger stretches up on the door of the washing machine in excited anticipation whenever I prepare his food and when it's ready ready I always say to him ''kiss for the cook' and he gives me a head bump.

That's my boy!

BibiBlocksberg · 07/04/2012 23:42

"Are you thinking of monorail cat?"

Yes, that's it! Didn't feel right as I typed is the other night but had convinced myself 'railway' cat was the right term. Pfft, back to cheeseburger for re-training for me :)
