Recommend me a dog food

I’m fed up with raw - defrosting, mucky dishes and freezer space etc especially heading into summer

Looking for a decent kibble that produces nice smallish 💩s.

Can spend up to £50 a 15kg or thereabouts

Any recommendations please 😁

I feed wet and my dog does small , non smelly poos on Nature diet . It’s also very reasonably priced for the quality .

Lastqueenofscotland2 · 02/05/2024 21:32

I feed wainwrights grain free. It’s £55 for 50kg

orangetulipsinbloom · 02/05/2024 21:41

My dog has Ci dog food, chosen after comparing nutritional value and price here: www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk. Admittedly, he is not picky and would eat anything but his 💩 is ok.

All about dog food is worth checking. I use celticconnection, but it's pricey

Millie's wolfheart

redboxer321 · 02/05/2024 21:47

Have a look at cold pressed kibble rather than extruded.
Feelwells, Gentle, Wilsons, Tribal, Walker and Drake... probably lots more.

Orijen!

PowderPuffGirl · 02/05/2024 21:51

Mine are on Scrumbles wet food. It's been the best brand I've tried for my IBS pup and they both have perfect poos every time. Haven't tried the kibble personally but would imagine it's just as good.

Thanks for the quick responses!
I think theses foods, although very good, are probably out of my price range? 🤔😊

I was recommended Ci food on here and have used it ever since - great quality, super quick delivery and a lovely little toy every time we order.

fieldsofbutterflies · 02/05/2024 21:54

The problem is that different foods suit different dogs. So one dog might have small poos on brand A whereas another may really struggle to digest it.

We feed Harringtons - it's certainly not the best but it suits our dog, it's affordable and he never leaves any behind. We tried pricier brands but tbh he wasn't keen and his poo was no different to what it is now.

I also take it to work as treats (I'm a dog walker) and all the dogs absolutely love it:

Burns alert has the effect you desire

Girliefriendlikespuppies · 02/05/2024 21:56

If you got a jollies pet shop near you I really rate their own brand Lifestage kibble, my very fussy with ultra sensitive guts dog loves it and it transformed his poo. It's completely solid and doesn't smell as bad!!

Plus it's very reasonably priced.

My dog likes the pork and the fish 50% meat ones.

NotAgainWilson · 02/05/2024 21:59

My very allergic dog did perfect poos when in Burns food. Unfortunately my current dog is now not good with birds, lamb and grains so we are struggling. She is currently in Wainwright Salmon cans but the poos are so hard she is struggling to go.

LizzieBennett73 · 02/05/2024 22:01

Mine are on Forthglade cold pressed. We get it on subscription so it's a bit cheaper monthly.

beccahamlet · 02/05/2024 22:04

Ci dog food is around £40-50 for 13.5kg. As a pp said, the customer service is great.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 02/05/2024 22:20

I use Step up to Naturals from Pets at Home

feelingalittlehorse · 02/05/2024 22:35

I also use Wainwrights. Not the grain free one. Had 5 labs on it now- 4 on the lamb and veg, and one on the salmon and potato (allergic to the lamb flavour)

eileandubh · 02/05/2024 22:40

Another happy Ci customer here! Both my DDogs are on the Tickety Boo range and have lovely glossy coats and kickable poo.

Cheaper but good.... Forthglade. If you bulk buy in particular, you can get it at a very low price. Also Wainwrights super food is good.

ontheflighttosingapore · 02/05/2024 22:44

Harrington's dry food is excellent for my dog I put Harrington's wet topper on it and he is great. It's mid price range I find it very good value

mnahmnah · 02/05/2024 22:53

We have just moved our 7 month old onto Harringtons after the vet said it’s perfectly good food. He wolfs it down and poos are all good. Our old dog used to love it too.
