How much does your dog shed? I can't figure out how mine isn't bald by now.

It's relentless, there is dog hair everywhere.
She's a lab pointer mix so a very short coat, but good god the hair 😳
She gets brushed with a Groomi every day and it just keeps coming as you're brushing her.
I had a long haired GS once and he wasn't this bad.
DD says you can get deshedding shampoo, does it work?

We had a lovely couple of weeks in December without any shedding from this boy but it's constant right now. He's not a fan of anyone doing anything to his back end so brushing involves a Benny Hill like chase around the house at times. He also gets such big tufts coming out we can just pull them out when stroking him. I actually put a lint roller in both DC's stockings at Christmas because of him. 🤣 We have two smaller dogs who don't shed, although we used to have a choccy lab too so I do remember the constant shedding times from him. We have hard floors in the living room and even hoovering daily we still seem to get fur tumbleweeds appearing.

I've never had a dog professionally groomed 😳, there's a dog wash place near me where you do it yourself. I might take her and give her a blast.
I always get compliments on how shiny she is 🤷

Yes do try it! There is a DIY place near us and they have the deshedding shampoo and it really does work and that coupled with the blower is amazing! I have a collie with a coat like a sheep and GR. We have tumbleweeds of hair 😬

Cocolapew · 30/01/2023 16:12

I couldn't cope with a long hairy dog, my washing mchine would be wrecked.
I have the scraper tool too, for the stairs @PugInTheHouse its amazing. I should try that on her 😄
I caught DD lint rolling her the other night.

We have 2 shiba inu dogs and everything has hair on it. They are currently moulting and you can actually pick clumps of hair out.

i have a springer...i swear they were described as low-mid shed ...i get hair drifts! especially at the moment v fluffy!

Cocolapew · 30/01/2023 16:56

Look at all those lovely dogs😍
I used to pick clumps out of my last dog, her hair was slightly longer because of the cocker, she had a curly neck and bum.
This seems so much worse because they are short and sharp not nice and fluffy, which was easier to pick off the floor.

Am here for the gorgeous fluffy pup pics, am not disappointed 🤗🐶

Shopper727 · 30/01/2023 17:13

Golden retriever here too, just feels like I just need to look at him and I’m covered in hair, he is over due a bath and a good groom and brush though he’s a bit pongy as we live near a river he doesn’t go right in but paddles
still honks

saveforthat · 30/01/2023 17:16

Me too. I try to brush her everyday. Our floors look like they are covered in fluffy tumbleweed about 5 minutes after hoovering.

PugInTheHouse · 30/01/2023 17:18

A proper groom definitely helped but only for a couple of days, it probably has helped overall though as it would have been loads worse. I couldn't believe how floofy he looked after, he is nearly 1 and that was his first proper groom. He was scared of the dryer.

plominoagain · 30/01/2023 17:38

Doesn't look like she leaves a trail of white needles behind her , does she ?

Sweeping about five times a day and I can still get clumps of fur off her neck

It's the innocent looking ones you need to watch out for 😄

You need one of these. Fluffy as anything but most of it doesn't fall out.

Ok @losingit31 when should I call round to collect?
I actually bought an attachment for my hoover that you brush your dog with but it doesn't fit.

I had a black lab and 3 cats our lovely lab shed enough hair in a day to re-coat the cats 😽

losingit31 · 30/01/2023 18:19

@Cocolapew Sorry, not happening! Also, not in the UK so he is safe from you here Grin

Cocolapew · 30/01/2023 18:24

Springer and sprocker here. Tumble weeds constantly.

OrlandointheWilderness · 30/01/2023 18:32

But not actually as bad as my partners lab! 😂

custardbear · 30/01/2023 18:49

We have a Samoyed - seriously floofy but the blow their coats twice a year, the rest of the time it's just a small amount - albeit long hairs! I can brush her and get only tiny amounts of hair.

She's 9 months ... not had a coat blow yet! 🫣

Black lab here.

The battle is real.

I hoover every day, sometimes twice.
