I pretty often meet people who look at our Dalmatian and say "we used to have a Dalmatian" in a knowing way.

They had one and never had another. To be fair, he is a bit barmy at times, but also so loving and sweet.

Definitely second that very affectionate ,mine tends to rest his nose on my shoulder when I'm sitting on the couch and he's along the top.
Also you'll never wake at three again with stress because well I sleep all night now I'm so knackered after walking him an hour every day.At least he pulls me up hills at the end which helps😀

Retired racing greyhound:
Is that a deer?
He’s big! (Yep, almost 40kg)
Is he fast?

From people who know the breed:
Is he an Irish hound? (Yep)
where did he race?
And at greyhound walks:
is he from a Droopys kennel? (Yes, his father was)

@justgivein yes the walls are very good for well-being. Although mine is resting up as he's licked his paw raw so it's treated and bandaged. Currently trying to get his itchiness back under control, it's off the charts this spring 😭

GuyFawkesDay · 21/05/2022 22:07

Does he ever stop wagging his tail (nope)
Ooh you're muddy/dirty!
What a happy dog!
He is so shiny! (this happens before aforementioned mud)

Black spaniel. Very shiny, but also mud seeking missile and does the spaniel specialist entire body wag ALL day.

Poshjock · 21/05/2022 22:22

"He's huge", "You could put a saddle on him" and various iterations of his size.
"Is he a poodle" (yes he is) "does he shed" (no, he's a poodle)
And often to their own dogs "He's not interested in you/doesn't want to play" - because he's trained to walk past other dogs on the paths (especially if they are on a lead) - only playing on my permission. I sometimes feel people perceive it as an insult that he effectively ignores all other dogs...

He's gorgeous. Mine is 32kg and the smaller of the boys in his litter 🤣

15wo springer cross - oh isn’t he cute! He’s full of energy isn’t he? Isn’t he good for his age (must admit, I like that one as we’ve been working on his training and it’s clearly working!), and then the usual questions about how housetraining is going, and often surprise that I’m letting him off lead at this age.

PugInTheHouse · 25/05/2022 09:44

Now we are out for walks with wolfpup everyone asks how old he is then they all make the same face and say ooh he's going to be big Grin

Leeeeeeeeeeeeeee · 25/05/2022 12:13

I get oh he's cute what is he?
Me: A labrador
what's he crossed with?
Me: A labrador.
Quite a lot of oh he's well trained. (He is but reactive so they would change their mind if they saw that).
More than once been told he's too skinny! Nope you're just used to seeing fat labradors.
Also to all bully & Staffie owners I would look like one of those crossing the road and getting away, but it's only cos my dog reacts
