What other owners say good and bad about your dog

My Shitzu. Isn't he cute.....isn't he sweet......ohhhh he's so lovely......ahhh come here,your such a little sweetie.
My Dalmatian. Ohhhh a Dalmation ,look don't see thoughs often......A Dalmatian haven't seen one for ages......Mummy,mummy look a puppy Dalmatian, when I have a puppy I want one of them.......Good look with him,you'll need it mate
The last on a walk this morning......they are nutters those dogs,good luck with him😁

We have a male red miniature poodle. Most frequent comments:

‘She’s lovely’ (apparently cute curly dog equals girl)
‘What a beautiful colour’ (he is)
‘She’s very bouncy’ (he is)
‘She’s just like a little lamb/deer/llama!!’ (he is)

Is she a cockerpoo? (no)
On being told he’s a poodle:
‘You don’t see many of those’ then a story about how Great Aunt Doris had one.
My favourite was
‘You can really see the poodle in him’!

And from the occasional pre- schooler

‘It’s Waffle from CBeebies!’

No negative comments really apart from while we were walking through the church graveyard the vicar said Ddog was looking back at him strangely and asked to come past!

It's a sausage dog!

What IS it? (Answer..'she's a dog' ) followed by usually very wild guesses.
My favourite so far is 'is she a giant Pom?' Usually people guess a GSD/Husky cross. Now and again people see the black tongue and recognise there must be Chow Chow heritage.

Then ' OMG her tongue is black, has she been eating liquorice/blackberries'
('no... it's part of her breed)

And always ' She's so fluffy must be a nightmare to groom' No she's very good about it but she does shed like crazy I admit.

'Can I stroke her , she's SOOOO fluffy'
Please don't, she doesn't want to be touched by strangers... then they still try anyway.... then she'll bark at them to go away....

'Ooh she sounds dangerous... she should be muzzled'

No, if you'd actually listened to me in the first place, she does not like being touched by strangers and you ignored me.

We get:
He's gorgeous, such lovely colours.

I used to have a black and white one.

.......He is a she, and most definitely not a Collie! I usually just nod and smile. And if somebody actually recognises her breed I'm chuffed!

We get “what is he?” All the time.
SHE is a rescue, part miriotic shepherd dog and part god only knows - potentially wolf! She’s very big!

We also get “now that’s a proper dog”

some people are wary but they tend not to say anything horrible

Imagine a Belgian malinois with the frame/body structure of a whippet! She has a mane and fluffy tail and massive ears.

This is a funny one and I really didn't understand it.I was standing outside a coffee shop and my boy was being really good sitting even though he was close to a busy road.A pensioner came up and said....is he sitting on a nerve because he's shaking😁.I said oh no I think he's just nervous.😁

What amazing recall, is it a breed characteristic?— well maybe a bit but mostly it’s me putting in a lot of hard work in training

isn’t she gorgeous - yes absolutely gorgeous but she’s a he, smaller than usual for his breed which apparently means must be female.

Pug - 'he's cute', 'he's ugly' 'he's my son/daughters favourite dog'. If people meet him indoors or our for a walk they comment on how we'll behaved he is, if he is in a crowded setting it is commented on that he's annoying/noisy by some, others just make a fuss. We get stopped lots by people wanting to stroke him.

New pup alaskan malamute/czechoslovakian wolfdog Cross- he's 12 weeks and so far people say they can't believe he's a puppy as he's so chilled and well behaved. Also they'd ask how old he was the first time I took him out, when I said 10 weeks they'd laugh and say OMG he's going to be huge. Main questions are how big will he get, do the dogs get on well. Is he a husky.

He's two, he's fully grown, has huge ears and big feet. He's a Boston Staffie Cross.

Most people have been friendly. A few have actually crossed the road to avoid him. He has this habit of going into a sort of stealth crab walk and pulling when he gets the scent of something. Then we get this huffing puffing snorting mad look. But when faced with a cat he hides behind us.

This morning I got a beautiful and a stunning as the bloke walked off, obviously a Dalmatian lover.This staying anonymous after walking a cute ,sweet shih zu for eleven years hasn't quite gone to plan.🤔😁

Ahhh a cockapoo? Nope a Lagotto. Our other Labrador gets oh he’ll calm down in a few years. He’s 10 😂

I get children squealing about how much they love my one dog. And then stuttered confusion “…and what’s this one?!” To my other one (staffy mix).

I also get people merrily letting their same breed dog come over to mine (on the lead away from dogs) saying “oh look it’s one of your own” and me having to politely explain that there is literally no other dog she dislikes more that “one of her own” 🙄

I like to think that I address more if my conversation to the dogs than the actually owners.
