@Blahblahblah40 I use meet and salmon paste for kongs. The type that come in a glass jar for sandwiches. They’re just the right amount for a kong. My mum used to give our shelties them in the jar years ago but I’d be worried about the glass breaking or Billy swallowing it. I think she may have inadvertently invented the Kong, if not she’d patented it 😵.

LadyCatStark · 09/03/2022 15:34

@Aria20 Billy is not allowed on the sofa either… he’s also not allowed to steal his drying towel of the top of his crate but he drags it round like Iggle Piggle 😂. How can I deny him the simple pleasure of watching the birds out of the swindle though?!

@BaconAndAvocado @Autumn101 I have a double ended Halti lead for Blahpup and just his own harness. Works a dream on pavements, in fact within 3 days he was better. Still mad in the woods but that’s to be expected with a working dog! 😂 too many good smells!

@LadyCatStark oh I will investigate those, anything to make life easy. Thank you.

LadyCatStark · 09/03/2022 17:01

@Blahblahblah40 OMG I just spotted autocorrect changed meat to meet 😵 I can spell, honest!

Blahblahblah40 · 09/03/2022 17:57

Haha! I didn’t even notice! I’m blaming sleep deprivation and stress…

Blahpup in the bad booksZ new crate mat arrived yesterday. He obviously hates it as he has promptly ripped a hole in it.

LadyCatStark · 09/03/2022 19:04

@Blahblahblah40 oh no, that means he loves it!

That’s a lot of enthusiastic love right there Grin Gorgeous photo!

PugInTheHouse · 09/03/2022 22:00

I forgot a pic. He's going to be a big boy. Any tips specifically for larger breeds is very welcome.

This thread was an absolute godsend 1st time round for us. Helped me survive. I'm not entirely sure why we're doing it again, it must be a hormone similar to the one that helps you forget how awful giving birth is Grin

@CovoidOfAllHumanity lol yes all my dogs favourite toys are missing ears and have been sewn up as she chews and destuffs them to remove squeakers lol!

Aria20 · 10/03/2022 07:21

@PugInTheHouse oh wow he is going to be big! Dexter is a cool name and suits him though!

Aria20 · 10/03/2022 07:23

@PugInTheHouse my only advice based on a family member having a giant breed - enforce rules early on eg not on sofa as there will be no room for you! No jumping up at people as he might knock someone over and ideally loose lead walking or you will struggle to walk them once they are bigger!

PugInTheHouse · 10/03/2022 07:42

Thank you, we are so excited and also nervous. We know we made some mistakes first time round so are determined not to do the same this time.

This is his dad the day he was brought home at 9 weeks and also his dad now so he may be similar size. The mum is quite small for her breed.

Oops didn't mean to post that middle pic

Autumn101 · 10/03/2022 07:53

So gorgeous, he’ll be a massive cuddly ball!

No advice just good luck x

PugInTheHouse · 10/03/2022 08:04

Thanks Autumn, we'll need it Grin

tizwozliz · 10/03/2022 14:47

Pup still being a pain in the bum with her eating. She seems lively enough otherwise so trying not to stress too much about it.

@tizwozliz how many weeks post season is she? Any other signs of phantom pregnancy?

tizwozliz · 10/03/2022 16:02

@Aria20 She's about 3 weeks post season now. No other phantom pregnancy symptoms.

Aria20 · 10/03/2022 16:19

@tizwozliz not that then as too soon! I feel your pain with the fussy eating though. So relieved I found something mine finally enjoys and generally finishes the meal!

TheBigMacDougal · 10/03/2022 16:23

Finally catching back up with the thread!

Macpup is 9 months. Trying to decide when/if we get him castrated. Trainer is keen on people leaving it closer to 18 months but doggy daycare
won’t accept him last 12 and not sure he’d cope with just a walker twice a day. We have no issues with him yet and he’s fairly confident… just don’t want to change him for the worse. How have others decided when/if?

He is however a total teenage knobhead. We have a spate of good days and I think he’s wonderful and then he’s a tw@t again 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

That might be the cutest puppy of all time.

No, I'm not searching for huskies on petsforhomes, who told you that?

GuyFawkesDay · 10/03/2022 18:17

@TheBigMacDougal we are going to try the implant with FawkesPup.

He's also a confident, happy-go-lucky kinda boy so no worries on the temperament front but vet said leave it as late as is feasible. He's fine to have it now, equally if he's not causing any issues then leave it and allow the hormones to do their job. So I will.

He's also a teenage twat. Luckily for him he's also a poppet and a total cuddle monster.
