I have a nameless puppy... any ideas?

He’s 5 months, been in a shelter the entire time, he’s very sweet but seems to have saved up all the chewing lol

He’s only been here since yesterday, we’ve cracked going upstairs (they were the work of beelzebub and he’s too chewy to leave alone so I had to sleep on the couch last night) made a start on crate training, he seems to have housetrained himself while in kennels which is a bonus, but I kind of need to call him something now to get started on everything else.

I don’t like people names, I don’t want anything like Marley or Bailey where you meet 2 on every walk...

Oh and it can’t have R in it (my DS has a speech disorder)

Also, my DP pointed out that my last two dogs have begun with a b, I don’t want that to be a thing, lol, so, preferably not starting with a b.

Not a clue what he is, they only ever had the puppies, not a mum and he actually looks like a completely different mix of dogs in every photo, lol... but I’ll put one in anyway so you can see him.

My front runner at the moment is Dax, but it’s only me that likes it, lol.

I considered bilbo, but it’s a b... and tbh, I’m not a massive hobbit or LORT fan, I just like it, so I’ve gone off that.

And I did seriously consider chomp, lol, but it sounds too similar to my cat’s name

So, um, I suspect quirky is probably what I’m after, but not so weird that my DP and DS object

How about Dennis? Stan? Bert? A proper old name that's unlikely to be the same as a random child in the park (until next year when some celeb calls their child it and it begins to tread 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Who is your favourite author? Name him after them?

First thing I did was go through authors I like... they either don’t work as a dog name or have at least one r in them.

The r thing is the only one that’s not just me being awkward btw, there are a few sounds my DS finds tricky r is the one he’s most self conscious about

The rest is just me being completely a pain, I’m aware of that, lol

He’s too little to be spud, spud is a big dog’s name, I don’t know why, but in my head it is, lol

Ace, Elvis, Moose, Ziggy. But the name that immediately came to mind when I saw him, and I still think is the one that suits him somehow, is Odie. He’s adorable, you’re so lucky.

He’s very sweet and also a complete PITA... he’s currently chewing on a poker I’m letting him, lol, it’s metal, it’s more of a gentle nibble, I’m figuring he can’t damage himself. He’s discovered the cat runs though, so I’m waiting on Amazon delivering me a house line before that goes from, ooh.. interesting to yay best game ever, so that should help with the chewing.

I actual hate the puppy stage, lol, but, he’s going great guns tbh, so fingers crossed it’ll not last too long.

'Chase' could be an appropriate name for him.

I do think if I met a dog called 'New Potato' I might die of cuteness, though

The fosters I get aren’t ownerless, they’re with me while their people get support from other places and then go back, so they keep their names - which is how I know people names cause me issues, lol
