He’s 5 months, been in a shelter the entire time, he’s very sweet but seems to have saved up all the chewing Hmm lol

He’s only been here since yesterday, we’ve cracked going upstairs (they were the work of beelzebub and he’s too chewy to leave alone so I had to sleep on the couch last night) made a start on crate training, he seems to have housetrained himself while in kennels which is a bonus, but I kind of need to call him something now to get started on everything else.

I don’t like people names, I don’t want anything like Marley or Bailey where you meet 2 on every walk...

Oh and it can’t have R in it (my DS has a speech disorder)

Also, my DP pointed out that my last two dogs have begun with a b, I don’t want that to be a thing, lol, so, preferably not starting with a b.

Not a clue what he is, they only ever had the puppies, not a mum and he actually looks like a completely different mix of dogs in every photo, lol... but I’ll put one in anyway so you can see him.

My front runner at the moment is Dax, but it’s only me that likes it, lol.

I considered bilbo, but it’s a b... and tbh, I’m not a massive hobbit or LORT fan, I just like it, so I’ve gone off that.

And I did seriously consider chomp, lol, but it sounds too similar to my cat’s name

So, um, I suspect quirky is probably what I’m after, but not so weird that my DP and DS object

TIA Grin

I would definitely go for chewbarker, and use chewie for short.

Netaporter · 06/03/2021 05:06

What a cute dog! I saw him and thought ‘Bobby’ but it starts with a ‘b’ and is a human name. Also Wilf?

Non human - Nacho?

However in my head I always think that dogs talk to each other about their names so dogs called Dave stand up tall whilst those called whiskey etc are a bit ‘I know right? What were they thinking?’ But obviously I’m bonkers 😆

Going for old school dog names and looking at his colour:

Goldie

Tawny
Tetley
Teak
Yellow

A friend of a friend has a dog called puppy. He was looking after it until it was rehomes so he didn't get a name, and then he ended up staying and answered to 'Puppy'.

I like the Chewbarker idea, and you can obviously call him 'Chewy' which seems appropriate.

There is the obvious 'Defor' as in D for dog.

I love his face he looks like he is happy so how about Merry or Sunny or Brilliant.

I've just rewatched Angel, he would suit Blondy Bear and you could call him Spike for short.

catsrus · 06/03/2021 07:37

If you like DS9 names (we had dogs called Keira and Dax 20yrs ago!) how about Odo, Sisko, Worf, Miles, Quark? Or sticking with the Trill theme you could take Jadzia and turn it into Jazz?

I think Dax is a great name btw and have not heard any dogs, apart from my own, called it.

Gaaw, I want to floof his ears!

I’d go for Monty or Spud.

Easterbunnygettingready · 06/03/2021 09:19

My dgm found a stray. He was called Nameless for 15 years... Because apparently she wasn't keeping him so didn't want to give him a name!!
Your ddog looks like a Fozzy..

“I'm all for solid human names for dogs but you've mentioned you're not keen so I'll not mention Brian, Seamus or Kevin.”

See... my DP may actually have one of those names you mentioned, lol

I’m the right age to know people called the blokey names and have children called the more common cuter ones... it’s not that I dislike them.

Bobby even without the b issue is definitely a no - DP already suggested Boaby Hmm

I’d already considered all the DS9 names, he actually looks a bit like Odo, but a dog... I know what I mean, lol, but I don’t like the sound of it.

He’s currently on his first breakfast in a Kong so I can have coffee... and I’m back on, see, he’s a hobbit, lol
