Well the Bastards won in the end

BBC Report

But the BBC has fucked up as well - first line of the report: "Lennox, an illegal pit-bull terrier type dog.."

The whole point of the campaign being that he WASN'T a Pitt Bull Terrier.

I am gutted for him, gutted for his humans. Gutted for the little girl who wanted her best friend back. Gutted for all the people in all the other countries that offered to take him - and BCC wouldn't back down.

AND the fuckers didn't even let the family see him before they killed him - and will cremate him against the familiy's wishes.

BASTARDS.

I just like to be clear whether I am talking to people who are likely to be reasonable and so capable of proper discussion or loonies.

I would really like to know the facts of this case, so that's why I asked whether anyone is actually involved on the ground in Belfast. But apparently I can't expect an answer to that. So as far as I know, everybody on here knows as much- or as little as I do. I'd like to hear from an expert.

PandaWatch · 11/07/2012 17:43

seeker you've been provided with links to details of the case in this thread. Maybe read those?

GingerWrath · 11/07/2012 17:47

That link is to Victoria Stilwell's official site btw.

seeker · 11/07/2012 17:49

Link doesn't work.

GingerWrath · 11/07/2012 17:51

Apparently the site is temporarily down due to high traffic.

Here is the link, courtesy of Google

I'm guessing Googling 'Victoria Stillwell' was a bit much for you Seeker, given your firm interest in the case and your desire for more info?

GingerWrath · 11/07/2012 17:57

Thank you D0oin

LtEveDallas · 11/07/2012 18:05

That's ok seeker - you risk your kids future by not considering independent schooling in any case, so I think you're a loony too. (Especially as your state schooling seems to have left you unable to read properly Confused)

Am disgusted at BCC. This poor dog had 2 years of suffering. Have you seen the photos of before he went in that compound, and the later photos with that dreadful skin problem.

Those monsters treated him appallingly. What has made me physically sick on top of this is that the family were not allowed to say goodbye, or even be present when he was put to sleep. They were not allowed his body, and have been offereed 'some' ashes in the post.

Huge coverup. They are hiding the fact that he was suffering. And then so disallow him to go the the US where there was a home waiting is beyond belief. I am so angry that it has ended this way.

seeker · 11/07/2012 18:15

I can't understand why they wouldn't let him be taken to the home in the States. Did they give q reason? Although I do actually think that making him go through that sort of journey and change of life is crueller than putting him to sleep, to be honest. Think how confused and worried he'd be. I can sort of understand why they felt they couldn't let him go back to his owners, particularly if the owners really did say the "he'll rip your face off" comment.

GingerWrath · 11/07/2012 18:17

I believe he died a while ago due to his ill treatment and that is why BCC would accept no alternative, would not allow the family to say goodbye and won't let them have his body.

LtEveDallas · 11/07/2012 18:18

You are probably right Ginger. Bastards.

There were rescues within Ireland itself that were also willing to help Seeker and all of the assessments made on Lennox bar one (i.e the from someone employed by the council) were positive and stated that he was not a danger to the public.

LadySucre · 11/07/2012 18:20

Firstly, they should not allow such terrible treatment in their pounds. A bit of education into how to care for animals would not go amiss.

Putting aside the whole sorry was he/ wasn't he, we need to go back to the beginning. The treatment he has received over the 2 years.

If you kept an animal in that state here, you could be prosecuted for neglect. Those so called wardens need locking up for the way they treated him.

Seeker - do you own animals?

LadySucre · 11/07/2012 18:23

I am beginning to wonder if he had been dead for a while too. It was definitely reported that he was dead yesterday, although the official line was that it was at 7am this morning i believe.
This may be the reason why the family were not allowed to say goodbye. There does really need to be an investigiation into the whole matter. There most certainly have been lies, that without a doubt.

Empusa · 11/07/2012 18:33

"If you kept an animal in that state here, you could be prosecuted for neglect."

Quite. It's actually illegal to treat an animal that badly.

cocolepew · 11/07/2012 18:38

The local news is on now but there has been no mention of this so far.

midori1999 · 11/07/2012 18:44

I agree that Lennox was not cared for properly (the photos prove that) and that he may well have been dead before today.

I cannot see any good reason why, even if BCC wouldn't let his family see him before they killed him, that they wouldn't agree to hand over his dead body back to them, unless there either was no longer any body because he had been killed or died (what an awful though, that he could have died of neglect Sad ) or because he was in such a disgusting state from the poor care they gave him that they didn't want any evidence left. Sadly, I think the latter is the most likely reason. Sad

I agree the whole thing needs investigating by an independent body.

cocolepew · 11/07/2012 18:46

There has just been a short piece on the news. Bloke said he was the "most unpredictable and dangerous dog " he had ever seen.

midori1999 · 11/07/2012 18:54

It's really quite surprising that the 'most dangerous and unpredictable dog' someone had ever seen had been living with his family for five years and had never bitten anyone, nor had anyone ever made any complaint about him. Hmm
