My dog is missing, and I am sad.

That's it, really. I got home from work today and after a few minutes I noticed my dog hadn't rushed up to greet me. I looked all over the house and then the garden, checked the shedsnothing. Called hubby to make sure he hadn't taken him outhe hadn't. We've asked the neighbors, called the dog warden, called the vets and shelters, searched everywhere and put up posters. Apparently someone saw a lone dog walking down the road near our local shop while we were out searching, but they hadn't seen the posters yet and didn't pick him up. This will be the first night he hasn't been with us since we brought him home as a puppy, and I'm worried sick.

He's been in the paper and lots of other people are putting up flyers too. I'm going further and further afield with the enquiries. Another mum from DD's school came up to me and told me that the same thing had happened to her last yearbut she eventually got her dog back (after paying 30 pounds). Not giving upstill posting away!

50shades, Where did you post it on Pets4homes? Under the for sale ads?

I think so, I'll track it down and check later, I thought that if I was in for sale, it might discourage people from trying to sell her.

That's a good idea. I've put ads up on all of the freead for sale sites now, just waiting for them to be approved.

I've shared on FB for you, hope you find him soon x

I know you've said you've given flyers out at the pre-school but what about other schools? Children of secondary school age tend to do more loitering than adults so may be more likely to spot him.

Have you tried offering a reward? Maybe ask other shops and GP surgeries, dentists, car garages if you can put up a notice (just trying to think of places where people might be hanging around waiting so are more likely to have the time give a bit of thought about whether or not they've seen him).

Really, really hoping you have some good news soon :(

Have Tweeted him, too. Will now share on FB as well.

Yep, we've offered a reward. We've put up posters at the GP surgery and the garages in the surrounding villages. To be honest, we're so rural that we don't have many local businesses, so we've hit just about everything. I hadn't thought about tire & MOT type places, though. Now we're putting up the flyers a bit further away and mailing leaflets to any business in the neighboring counties thats remotely dog related. DH is going to go and flyer the migrant worker camps in the area today because they cover a lot of ground along the back roads and may have spotted him if he headed that way.

Nothing yet. Except that I've been getting creepy texts from strangers who seem to view a lost dog as an excellent chat up opportunity. But at least it means people are seeing the flyers!

Have you contacted large animal vet practices as they obviously get around a lot and all local farriers they have website where you could find out whose In your area they too travel often have dogs theres always dogs around horses and they hear lots of things and a friendly one might put flyers up in riding schools livery yards etc.

Have faith - my friend's cat turned up after nearly two weeks. It had walked all the way back to his old house!

No news yet, but I do have a facebook page set up now:
www.facebook.com/BringGoyaBack

and a twitter account: @bringbackgoya

I'll try the farriers too--I can add them to my (now huge) mailing list. I found a blog by a woman who spent 22 months searching for her missing dog, and recently (barely) got back. He was found by a dog warden 30 miles away, but they wouldn't let her have him because they had to wait 7 days for the "new owner" to claim him. So they wanted to give preference to the person who had stolen the dog in the first place! Luckily the "new owner" decided not to contest ownership when he found out it was a police matter.
