The doghouse

My dog is missing, and I am sad.

That's it, really. I got home from work today and after a few minutes I noticed my dog hadn't rushed up to greet me. I looked all over the house and then the garden, checked the shedsnothing. Called hubby to make sure he hadn't taken him outhe hadn't. We've asked the neighbors, called the dog warden, called the vets and shelters, searched everywhere and put up posters. Apparently someone saw a lone dog walking down the road near our local shop while we were out searching, but they hadn't seen the posters yet and didn't pick him up. This will be the first night he hasn't been with us since we brought him home as a puppy, and I'm worried sick.

Thinking of you, Fuzzy. A dog on doglost found its home after about 6 months. I hope Goya is safe wherever he is, and I do so hope he comes home. I will post on Doglost if it helps

Sad How absolutely awful. I regularly give myself nightmares imagining how it would be if I lost either of my dogs. They are quite big and can put on a good act of seeming fearsome if you don't know them, but they are both as neurotic and nervous as hell and they are not streetwise/traffic-savvy at all. I cannot bear to think about it, as I think they'd get run over in two minutes flat.

No news is good news - if your doggie had been hurt you would know by now as he is chipped.

Some kind person probably took him in and is trying to trace you as we speak. Good luck.

Sad have you had any new leads at all? It must be awful for you all.

We're still hoping. Out of the blue, my 2 year old DD started sobbing in the supermarket the other day, saying "I want my doggie to come home, I need to huggle him." It just broke my heart to see her cry with nothing I could do to fix it.

Try to keep positive, hard as it is. There are lots of dogs which turn up after a few weeks. Mini Maga was found a few days ago. Thinking of you x

He's still missing and we haven't had any leads for a little while now. We've just posted out leaflets to all of the groomers in the surrounding areas and vets as well, in case somebody brings him in. Been watching the free-ads for dogs matching his description but haven't spotted anything yet. His facebook page is here: www.facebook.com/BringGoyaBack

Fate has suddenly presented us with a foster dog (and cat) which is at least little comforting as we walk around putting up fresh flyers.

Not sure if people have made these suggestions? Local vets? Dogslost? even out of town vets? Is he chipped? Post on facebook and ask your friends to post, and their freinds etc. Local radio? they often have a lost pet spot? Dog warden? police?

I bet these have all been suggested already. Don't give up

Still no word. We've had 3 false leads over the weekend with similar dogs found that didn't turn out to be him. I've been trawling the free-ads and am shocked and dismayed by the number of "quick sale" dogs out there that may well be stolen. I understand why doglost has so many volunteers. I think i'll be posting, tweeting and sharing other people's missing pets long after goya comes home.

No news yet, but I do have a facebook page set up now:
www.facebook.com/BringGoyaBack

and a twitter account: @bringbackgoya

I'll try the farriers too--I can add them to my (now huge) mailing list. I found a blog by a woman who spent 22 months searching for her missing dog, and recently (barely) got back. He was found by a dog warden 30 miles away, but they wouldn't let her have him because they had to wait 7 days for the "new owner" to claim him. So they wanted to give preference to the person who had stolen the dog in the first place! Luckily the "new owner" decided not to contest ownership when he found out it was a police matter.
