A friend of mine rescued a dog last year who had come in from a very abusive home. He's a big lad, 9st (not sure of breed) and absolutely beautiful. The problem is that he's terrified of everything and it's got to the point that she thinks he's going to bite. He's already tried to nip her son (who has AS and has struggled to bond with the dog) and currently has to be walked on a muzzle.

She's pretty much decided he needs to be PTS, but if you know of an experienced home where he could get the attention he needs please let me know. I will add that my friend is an experienced dog owner but she's a single mum and just can't afford the behavouralists etc. It's breaking her heart to even consider PTS

There's a photo here

As I say he's a gorgeous boy, really sweet when he's comfortable with you, prefers women.

I don't expect you to work miracles, and it may be he needs out of this life so he can be reborn into a better one. He's due in for an operation on Thursday, and the official story will be that he doesn't survive the anaesthetic Sad

Dooinmecleaning, yes Trudi is the owner of Doris Banham. The rescue's named after Trudi's late mum.

K9999 - do you have an update from Rob? am hoping that owner may have changed her mind and dog will go to rescue

K9999 · 09/06/2011 17:29

chick, I've just had a quick message from Rob (who had a shitty birthday by the way and can't celebrate this weekend as he's just spent all his wages on specialist treatment for some of his rescued dogs). He said that he was going to try to fit the dog in somewhere but that the owners were not keen. So there was a possibility of an alternative. :( Angry

chickchickchicken · 09/06/2011 17:36

so a bit of hope then? ive been thinking about dog today, wondering whether its alive or dead.

would it help Rob at all if he had some donations? cant afford a lot, but every little helps. i know that wont mean extra space but may help with immediate things.

nothing we can do though if owner still wants to pts Sad Angry

K9999 · 09/06/2011 17:57

There was hope from Rob but not, it seems, from the owners. Rob offered to try to find the dog a lifeline but the owners rejected the offer.

Re helping Rob out and donations, aw, how sweet [shuffles awkwardly]. I'm sure it would help a huge amount, and can only suggest that you give him a call on the number above or find him on FB - he's known as Robert Notapplicable on there. :)

Oh, and be prepared for just how darn young he is! He's good though, his commitment is extraordinary.

chickchickchicken · 09/06/2011 19:07

so you think the dog didnt 'survive the op' today then? only 4yrs old and healthy Sad

chickchickchicken · 09/06/2011 19:08

even doctors seem young to me these days Grin

K9999 · 09/06/2011 19:14

I can't say for sure and tbh I don't think that the OPs going to be any more forthcoming than they have already. I suspect that any news won't be good news but I hope I'm wrong.

I know where you're coming from re doctors and age. Policemen too, they're waaay too young these days!
