to kittya - it is Cake Boy, at Battersea Reach. Eric Lanlard (sp?) is the chef.

Fuzzywood · 07/06/2010 22:26

I can't believe how rude she was to that baker they went to visit. If that was me I'd have asked her to leave.

GoingPostal · 07/06/2010 22:27

I reckon MP had to go round apologising to people after their meetings. Both bakers and the shop designers!

Sherbert37 · 07/06/2010 22:27

Those cakes made my childhood flash before me - no wonder I have so many fillings. But where were the cornets with mallow in the top, to look like ice cream cones? Anyone else remember those? Sadly there is a lot of resistance to change in many businesses. Glad Waitrose came out well for the quality of its bread.

kittya · 07/06/2010 22:30

I love Vanilla Slices, I can only get the proper ones when I go up north, the ones with pink sugar sprinkled on top. I think the owner was nuts tbh, her son didnt have much backbone (I wonder why?). Im glad Mary pulled out of getting the shop done up. I wonder if many people will visit it tomorrow?

AvadaKedavra · 07/06/2010 22:36

... and ask for speciality breads hahaha

Maize · 07/06/2010 22:37

I am watching it now (sky+ed it) and am speechless at how incredibly rude she was to that award winning baker! He is being so polite and friendly and she is just so hostile and beligerent.

She was an idiot, but my 7yo would go wild for those pink meringue faces.

LynetteScavo · 07/06/2010 22:43

And indeed she was very rude to the gorgeous baker she visited. I felt he was a bit used. What and where was his bakery again? 'Cos I think it deserves a plug! (And there might be a pic of him on the website!

Pancakeflipper · 07/06/2010 22:45

Hendo - if Paul is being mentally tortured by the dragon with 36 yrs experience pass him a small loaf with a message hidden inside saying we will rescue him and let him use olives, tomatoes, onions whatever he likes in his non-white bloomer bread.

Pancakeflipper · 07/06/2010 22:46

And Hendo - check out the floor and ceiling too please

JackieNo · 07/06/2010 22:49

Yes, the ceiling! Must change the ceiling. But keep the bread and cakes exactly the same

I think it was Hobbs HOuse bakery, but their website's crashed!

hendo77 · 07/06/2010 22:53

Right. I'm off up there first thing in morning. Am seriously tempted to go at midnight to see if Paul the baker is there but dh will actually disown me for madness I fear. I'll take some pictures of DD as a cover and put them on my profile for you tomorrow!!!

I will ask for speciality bread and cakes and report back by lunchtime...

BreevandercampLGJ · 07/06/2010 22:54

The charming Tom here

dustycups · 07/06/2010 22:55

fab hendo!!

i was just thinking at the end oh damn i would love to know what it looked like now!

ifancyashandy · 07/06/2010 22:57

PLEASE ask the bitter dragon cake lady for some focaccia bread? But stress that it needs to be homemade not pre-mix...

BreevandercampLGJ · 07/06/2010 22:58

Hendo

Ask for speciality bread and when they sell it to you, you must exclaim in a very loud voice, what do you mean it is a packet mix.

ifancyashandy · 07/06/2010 22:58

Breevan X posts!!

hendo77 · 07/06/2010 23:00

I have a feeling I should go in disguise or else I may end up barred alongside ousted Mary...

BreevandercampLGJ · 07/06/2010 23:00

OurLadyOfPerpetualSupper · 07/06/2010 23:05

In case it hasn't already been said, the bakery is Hobbs House in Nailsworth, Gloucestershire.

Haven't been there myself, but DD says their bread is 'lush' .

Think I'll be winging my way there pronto.

booyhoo · 07/06/2010 23:25

wow!!just watched this on iplayer.

that woman didn't deserve any help after they way she treated that dishy baker. she was incredibly rude. i have to say, if i was MP i would have taken her aside and told her i wouldn't be providing any advice or help if she continued to be rude (or if she mentioned 36 bloody years again).

i am glad she showed herself up in the end as the miserable, timewarped, rude witch that she is. poor paul. i hope he opens up his own shop with the help of MP.
