they're freaky sorry, not normal children, why do they want to go to harrow fgs

Lizzylou · 11/03/2010 21:11

I think that this programme will annoy me...
The whole "life of privilege" thing is just wrong, just because your parents can pay £30k a year for a school?
But I shall prob watch and grrrrr

harveytherabbit · 11/03/2010 21:12

Am watching. I really like this Krishnan kid. He's funny and engaging. Just the right side of annoying.

ladyofshallots · 11/03/2010 21:13

Can't help thinking that these children don't need Harrow to be successful. Harrow could give them enriching experiences, but children this clever are surely going to be able to pick the university they want to go to later on anyway?

SebbysMum · 11/03/2010 21:15

ladyofshallots - I think you are right that they could get to a good university anyway but I suspect someone that bright probably does need a special school to keep him stretched. The boarding school bedroom would beat sharing a room with his parents too...

I like Krishnan. And his mum seemed nice and normal - just a bit overwhelmed by his intelligence.

I just worry about how these boys will cope with the possible failure. It's too much pressure.

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 11/03/2010 21:15

Have sky+ this, so will return to the thread later.

Hulababy · 11/03/2010 21:17

I assume it'll be like all the other programmes of this ilk. They will pick all the xtremes of society, from bth ends, to befeatured and make everyone look "wierd" and then portray it as the norm.

SebbysMum · 11/03/2010 21:17

Oh no, this Dad is terrible

southeastastra · 11/03/2010 21:17

the parents are deluded

Looks like the current boy's been coached because his father wants the prestige rather then the education. It's his father's ambition rather then then the child's.

ladyofshallots · 11/03/2010 21:19

Undoubtedly Harrow would stretch them academically, but they seem to have an all or nothing mentality which will be so hard to cope with if they don't get in.

I went to Oxford from a state school and am nowhere near these children in terms of intellect. This process is far more demanding than the Oxford entrance process.

LynetteScavo · 11/03/2010 21:20

Tis a lot of pressure to place on these boys....and how will they fit in with the children form wealthy homes? Is it fair on them?

Lizzylou · 11/03/2010 21:20

Hulababy is right, they are getting the extremes.

Gorgeous eyelashes on these first two boys though

thehillsarealive · 11/03/2010 21:21

i feel sorry for the boys. they are clever - but with a lot of the 'gifted' children they have no common sense or idea of the 'real' world.

LynetteScavo · 11/03/2010 21:21

These are the kind of kids that would get into Oxfor (if they wanted to) form a decent state school, though, surely?

ladyofshallots · 11/03/2010 21:23

Absolutely - Oxford would probably prefer state school kids like this who are naturally able.

Hassled · 11/03/2010 21:23

I think it's probably bollocks that the "poor" kids wil fit in easily - when your school mates are talking about expensive holidays/parental wealth etc they're never going to feel part of the in crowd.

harveytherabbit · 11/03/2010 21:23

Krishnan for future prime minister (might I say I am not his mum). He is so smart it's scary. That stuff about bravery. The next kid along was not a patch on him.

ladyofshallots · 11/03/2010 21:24

Bet the kids are terrified of disappointing their parents.

youremindmeofthebabe · 11/03/2010 21:25

Bless this kid now too. i feel sorry for him.

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 11/03/2010 21:25

Oh dear.

southeastastra · 11/03/2010 21:25

mad parents, why put your kid through that! they will be going to school with kids whose dads went there and their dads etc etc etc.

ridiculous

Hassled · 11/03/2010 21:26

Tumi's mum is scaring me. That's one committed woman.
