Anyone want to watch this with me? That first little boy was so sweet

OP posts:
blametheparents · 11/03/2010 21:58

Tumi, I guess, seems the most 'normal' of the boys

LynetteScavo · 11/03/2010 21:59

I really hope Tumi is happy there...let's not forget they are boarding. It's going to be a big thing for him.

harveytherabbit · 11/03/2010 21:59

Could have predicted the results at the start of the programme. They should have done a better job of making it less obvious .

Sexonlegs · 11/03/2010 21:59

I welled up when Tumi was on the phone being offered his place!

LittlePushka · 11/03/2010 21:59

Also very poor form for Captain Clippy Braces NOT to tell others in person - cowardice! Not brave,...as per one of the questions

BigBadMummy · 11/03/2010 22:00

Why do parents want their children to be social experiments? I don't get it.

ladyofshallots · 11/03/2010 22:00

The parents are so proud.

MiraMoreVino · 11/03/2010 22:00

Horrible horrible programme. Urgh.

orienteerer · 11/03/2010 22:00

Must dash off and put DS's name down!

LynetteScavo · 11/03/2010 22:01

The other lad didn't get in because he wears football shirts as leisure wear. Just not Harrow, y'know!

blametheparents · 11/03/2010 22:01

Annual speeches are a bit pukey!

ladyofshallots · 11/03/2010 22:01

Didn't like the thank you bit. Ick.

slightlystressed · 11/03/2010 22:01

I don't like this Thank you speech they do every year. Once at the end of school would be enough.

JamAndPeanutButter · 11/03/2010 22:01

Yay Tumi!!

I agree LadyofShallots- some children are better off sheltered from the 'real world'. He'd be eaten alive

pastapestofor6 · 11/03/2010 22:01

ugggh awful how they have to thank Mr Beckwith...just horrid

LittlePushka · 11/03/2010 22:02

Good for Alex!

BitterAndTwistedChoreDodger · 11/03/2010 22:02

LOL at Captain clippy braces! I've been on about a 10 min delay, just caught up. So glad Krishnan and Tumi got in!

LynetteScavo · 11/03/2010 22:02

Alex is still considering other schools. Love it!

pooka · 11/03/2010 22:02

I don't like beckwith lunch.

Read a piece in the paper recently about someone who funds I think 3 etonians a year. Insists on being anonymous to the boys (i.e. they know a scholarship has been awarded, but not by whom). All they do is send a letter once a year to anon donor saying what they've been up to.

LynetteScavo · 11/03/2010 22:03

Thank heavens I didn't have to attend the "Beckworth Lunch" That is the price they have to pay for the next 7 years.

MarshaBrady · 11/03/2010 22:05

It's a great opportunity yes and very happy for the children. But I get the impression on here that the very very brightest do mostly make it to Oxford via the state system or private. So it's not hugely life-changing in all cases perhaps.

LittlePushka · 11/03/2010 22:05

Aww...pooka, you outed me! I WAS trying to keep the Eton thing low key...!

LittlePushka · 11/03/2010 22:07

Well Toodle pip chaps! It's been a rag!

LittlePushka · 11/03/2010 22:08

PS BTW, What katie Did Next is on ITV2 +1 for our next discussion gels!

gramercy · 11/03/2010 22:10

I missed the beginning.

What constitutes poor? None of them looked particularly poor to me.
