it was better than last year's, in that it wasn't outright offensive, but it's like whatserface, caroline thingybob, has forgotten that the characters were supposed to have a native intelligence. and fuck me that golden eggcup thing.

Yeah I thought that about the characters, jim used to be quite sharp & he seems to be a bit dim now. It just doesn't work so well as when he used to be the contrast to denise & dave.

but even denise was fantastically manipulative and sly and got everyone doing everything for her. now, just pouting and stupidity. it used to be more complicated than thick vs smart.

Royle Family been going downhill since Denise's wedding imo i.e. first series. First series inspired, rest good, but all subsequent specials have been crap.

Caroline Aherne looks odd also.

all is forgiven, am watching 'What Larks!' the filming of the christmas special/diary thingybob and pmsl, it's v funny. i adore her all over again.
